Re: National Socalists
Carl didn't know when he fell asleep that evening, but the sun was still shining. It disorientated him slightly to wake up with the sun just as it had been before. Not sure if it was the evening still Carl turned on his side to see if Raeulf was still asleep but was greeted with an empty bed. He rubbed his bleary eyes and groaned, wondering where she had gotten to, he didn't want to be on his own in this place. Before Carl worked with gaining information from youths mainly, the beef-heads from before were no problem but these were educated, intelligent people and Rae knew them better, together they'd be fine but on his own he didn't want to be corned. He managed to pull himself out of the bed begrudgingly- he had been so tired for the last few days and just wanted to sleep and eat. But Carl needed a shower and wanted to find out where Raeulf had gotten to, after reading her letter he took his time, assured she hasn't vanished.
Carl stood in the slightly smaller room and had gotten dressed. It still felt strange after all of these months to wear civilian clothes, and interact like a civilian, he still walked and thought like an officer. He sometimes wondered if his nature had rubbed off on her; she had certainly had an effect on him. A pair of slightly casual trousers and a White shirt; collar button undone for a change, Carl felt confident with himself and decided to grab some food. A few men looked at Carl with caution, purely because he was new and rather bruised still; the vast majority were easy to get along with. He didn't hang around for long, sitting relatively by himself and eating quickly. He was going to head out towards the tennis courts and see if he could catch the end of Raeulf's match with her friends. Walking out into the later german summer sun Carl hardly saw Raeulf running at him at and was a little taken a back by her hug, but he was pleased and wrapped his arms around her waist, picking her up and returning her kiss. 'Hello to you too." He smiled, putting Raeulf down.
"uh...well...yeah? No..." Carl struggled to keep up with Raeulf, but he was happy to see her so enthusiastic, it was a great change to before, "Yeah, a walk sounds good." He took Raeulf's hand and followed her through the gardens, he hadn't ever been a fan of gardening, his mother had always been in the garden and had often roped Carl into helping so he could tell how well kept the gardens were. But Carl kept his floral thoughts to himself and stole the occasional kiss as they walked through the high walled maze. He felt butterflies in his stomach and it couldn't have been better, it was as if they had met under different circumstances, like a normal couple would have, he followed Raeulf around the maze and listened to her stories about the place, some were interesting whereas the others about other men she had met here weren’t so . But he enjoyed the time with her all the same. The pair came onto the rose garden and it had to be at least early afternoon, there was a small commotion the other side of where they were, a few raised voices but cheerful. “What’s going on?” Carl could make out the voices of Raeulf’s friends and followed them back to the main drive to the manor to see Smithe. He hadn’t seen that boy since everything had really kicked off, Carl never really had much against him, but as his glance passed over him Carl got the impression that something was going to happen. He felt the tug of Rae at his shirt sleeve and turned to follow her back the way they had came. Sat in the rose garden on the grass Carl spoke quietly. “What was that all about then?” Genuinely curious. “No really, I thought he was your sidekick and he nearly burnt with those eyes.” Of course he knew what was going on, but rather was prompting Rae to think of a way out of this, after all she knew Smithe better than perhaps Carl knew his father.

Re: National Socalists
Rae didn't want to go with Carl around that corner, she knew who was going to be there. Once they were there however, a small gasp escaped her lips. Smithe turned to look at them, his stare cold and totally unrecognisable. She pulled Carl away, letting go of him and slumping on the grass.“What was that all about then?” she looked down to the floor 'Shut up Carl.' “No really, I thought he was your sidekick and he nearly burnt with those eyes.” 'Will you just shut up? Let me think...' She stared at the green grass, a rarity in Cologne. 'He looked so...' he didn't look like Smithe, he looked like someone different, he even looked a little taller, broader, and a little meaner. She looked up to Carl 'Aren't you supposed to be my superior? Do something! Lieutenant, I don't know what to do...' she was a little angry with him for expecting her to know what to do. 'Come on!' she stood, glaring at me 'He's my friend? Did you not see how he looked at me? He hates me Carl, he said last time we met that he never wants to see me again... all I want to do is give him a hug.' She turned away from him, still a little furious. 'Maybe if I try to speak to him, perhaps he'll come round.' At that moment, she froze, feeling an icy stare run through her. 'Raeulf.' She turned slowly. 'Smithe! How are you?' the happy routine obviously wasn't working, he turned his head slowly towards Carl, and with a curled lip growled 'Piss off will you mate?' His tone was a little too threatening for her liking, she implored Carl not to leave with her eyes, but unfortunately he didn't see, instead nodding to Smithe and walking off calmly. The two were left alone. 'Wh... what are you doing here Smithe?' 'Lets take a walk shall we?' He grabbed her arm roughly, leaving her to let out a small yelp before nodding hurriedly and walking with him. He led her to the circle. A large circle of gravel surrounded by another of grass, it was where they performed open air plays and performances. 'What am I doing here...' he muttered 'Pardon?' she asked with a small voice. 'You asked what I was doing here.' She nodded, swallowing nervously as she did. 'They sent me home. Told me I wasn't good enough after basic training. Not good enough for cannon fodder.' 'You... you joined the army?' she was shocked, Smithe was always terrified that they'd recruit him. 'A few weeks later, they tell me I'm going to Poland. So I go to Poland. Have you ever seen a dead body Rae?' she shuddered, the way he talked to her was like he was talking to the enemy. She shook her head. 'N... not in real life.' 'I've seen hundreds. Men, boys, children. All Jews. They sent me to work at a Camp Raeulf. Of all places!' She shuddered, taking a step towards him 'James you didn't!' 'No.' he held a hand out to stop her touching him 'I didn't. I couldn't do it, so they've sent me to work the fields in Poland under a Lieutenant Naam. Nasty fellow.' She looked at him, her eyes welling up with tears. 'James I...' 'Imagine my surprise when I hear back at camp of some 'Lucky Bastard' Lieutenant Bauer had been sleeping with the famous pin-up girl Rune.' Her large green eyes looked up to him now, he was a little taller, perhaps it was from the training.
Gerhard ran along the gravel, his feet crunching on the ground with every step until he literally ran into his sister, them both stumbling back a little 'Whoa! Slow down will you?' 'Where's Raeulf?' Trula looked confused, her brother stood in front of her gasping for air with his hands on his knees. 'What... With Smithe I suppose but wh...' 'God Damn it!' 'What's the matter?' Luckily, The Nazi walked past. 'You! Wh... Where's Princess? YOU LEFT HER ON HER OWN WITH HIM? ARE YOU A COMPLETE FOOL!? Ugh. Come on. Trula, you too.' They all ran towards the open space that the two were speaking in, but it seemed that they had already gathered a crowd. 'He left on bad terms with her, and guess what, he told her to stay away from this freak.' He growled, glaring at the aryan. 'Looks like she's got a death wish.' 'Should we stop this?' 'No. Let it play out.'
Raeulf didn't notice the crowd gathering around them. 'W... well what business is it of yours anyway? Last thing I knew was that you wanted me out of your life for good.' The air seemed to crackle with tension. 'What business? WHAT BUSINESS!? Of course it's my bloody business Rae! Why the hell do you think I joined the war Raeulf? I heard you had given yourself up, that you'd gone to the Nazi's and that they'd probably kill you or torture you for all you'd done. I was bloody inconsolable, I had nothing left to live for!' Rae was so confused, he wasn't making any sense 'Inconsolable? You suggested it!' 'I loved you Rae! You were my best friend, my everything, I bloody worshipped you! I thought you were dead... and when I find out you're alive, and with... with that bastard that I told you to stay away from. What did you do... why didn't you listen to me!?' 'Because I didn't have to! You're pathetic Smithe!' suddenly something inside him snapped, he backhanded her with a crack that sounded across the courtyard, things sped up very quickly then. 'How FUCKING dare you! COME OVER HERE AND SAY THAT!'
Gerhard watched what was happening with baited breath. 'Should we stop this?' he held his hand out to his sister, that was until he heard the sound of her being hurt. 'Back off Smithe!' his attempts of getting between the two of them were futile, he pushed him out of the way only to shove her to the ground aggressively.

Re: National Socalists
‘I am your superior, but you are the one gaining intel for me, I am your chaperone, your supervisor in all of this.’ Carl listened to her frustration and couldn’t help but relate to her situation. It was exactly how he felt about her, but of course their relationship was in a constant state of flux at the moment. Carl didn’t know where he stood with Raeulf, he couldn’t blame her for not knowing herself, but all he wanted to do was hug her and for everything to be like it was before, when nobody knew each other’s intentions fully. But he had shot himself in the foot by lying from the start, for now he would remain as her supervisor and commander. Carl noticed the young man walking up behind Raeulf. He kept quiet as he did, guessing it would be the most opportune time for them to speak. He immediately didn’t like his tone but seeing as Rae said nothing, he nodded and walked away, only a few meters away into the sun, he was out of earshot of the two but he wasn’t just going to leave her with a man who reminded him of himself eight months ago. He watched them walk away and slowly followed them, Carl’s eyes narrowed at the way he was treating Raeulf but he knew she was a strong girl and waited for events to play out. He lost the pair for a moment as Raeulf’s friends urged him to follow them further, all looking towards the gravel circle, a small audience around Raeulf and Smithe as if they were performing.
It was all getting far too much too quickly. Carl had left the siblings and joined the group who were watching the commotion, he was about to stand in himself when Gerhard bombed past Carl and tried to break up what was happening only for him and Raeulf to be pushed into the gravel. “Enough Smithe!” Carl bellowed, the group in front of him parting, he walked to Raeulf and helped her up, ignoring the protests to leave things as they were. “No, I will not have this! Not anymore!” He turned Smithe, practically baring his teeth with rage. “Do you not thing that she has gone through enough without your petty jealousy? That’s exactly what it is! no. listen to me. I couldn’t care any less than I do now about what you think about me, all you ever did was despise me and that’s fine, I deserve that hatred, but Raeulf? The girl you so desperately adored, you are able to beat her publically?! You are pathetic, no more than the dirt under my shoes!” Carl advanced towards Smithe, the pair squaring off towards one another, Carl was not frightened to throw the first punch, nearly flooring Smithe but it seemed that the army training really had toughened him up and Carl was sent back a few staggered steps. “You won’t win this way…” Carl chuckled with a threatening sneer, he didn’t care about the overly curious eyes watching him, and he was defending what he held dear. However the siblings finally came in between the pair and Carl was forced to walk in the other direction. He couldn’t see Raeulf anymore; a funny, sinking feeling filled his stomach, thinking that perhaps he had made the wrong choice impulsively but he continued to walk away from the situation in fear of turning back to Smithe and putting a pistol to his head.
It had to be half an hour or so after Carl had broken up one commotion and caused another, he saw a few people looking at him, whispering. He felt ostracised and there was no one around to tell him otherwise. He was sure that Raeulf’s friends would comfort her for the moment, instead Carl walked up the incredibly long drive that led to the estate, lighting a cigarette as he walked, reminding himself that he was here to complete a task, for his leader, for the good of Germany.

Re: National Socalists
Rae’s head was spinning from being pushed back, she hated all the fighting, all the shouting, and it was the thing she was supposed to be fighting against. It was Carl’s voice that seemed to be the one of reason however as he stepped in. The whole crowd of people seemed to look on with baited breath anticipating what would happen next. He held a strong out to her, she looked at him before taking it, feeling his arm around her, she stood, looking at how her friend had changed, practically hiding behind Carl, however she didn’t want to see what was inevitable, she turned, trailing her hand along Carl’s arm although it was lost upon him.
Rae found herself in the same spot all afternoon, she couldn’t think what she would like less than to hear he two favourite people fight each other, so took off and climbed a tree near the front of the estate. It was a little later when she spotted a familiar plume of smoke coming out from the mouth of her superior. She watched him, until he was almost directly below her, kicking off a shoe and watching as it tumbled and narrowly missed his face. ‘Damn.’ She muttered under her breath before calling down to him ‘No, no don’t go… please…’ she watched him loiter around the roots for a moment ‘Oh, I forgot, you’re too square to climb trees.’ She giggled, before seeing him remove his shoes in a very neat and organized fashion, roll up his sleeves and proceed to climb up awkwardly. She looked at him with an amused expression when he finally sat next to her on the branch. ‘Oh nothing.’ She mused, pouting a little. ‘Thank you by the way.’ She said, looking out onto the countryside. She hated conflict, but always found it admirable when people fought for something honourable. She paused a little before speaking again. ‘It seems I attract all the freaks… An abusive fiancée, a rapist of a Pirate, a bully of a friend…’ she looked to him ‘and a Nazi…’ she sighed, taking everything a little too lightly ‘Perhaps I should stop posing naked…’ she didn’t know what else to do but laugh. She couldn’t cry, she couldn’t shout, she was too passive for that. Resting her head on his shoulder, she kicked her other shoe off, it landing just next to her other one. ‘I’d be dead if it wasn’t for you.’ She said, absentmindedly feeling the line of the scar along her neck.

Re: National Socalists
As CARL finally clambered next to Raeulf he smiled, a little relieved that she had not wanted him to leave so quickly. “What was that?” He grinned whilst rolling down his sleeves and buttoning them appropriately. “I uh…” He didn’t really know what to say, he had fought for Raeulf but it seemed that it could have been at much a much greater cost for her. Carl didn’t care for where they were or the people there, but he could tell that Raeulf was happy here, or at least she once was happy. “Freaks eh?” Looking out over the German countryside reminded Carl of his childhoods with his aunt and uncle in the black forest, he knew how to climb then. “Well I wouldn’t say… that I am a complete freak...” Alexander couldn’t help but smile, he guessed that in the world’s eyes he was somewhat of a freak. Not even the average soldier. ‘Perhaps I should stop posing naked…’ Carl put his arm around Raeulf as she leant on him. “Well I wouldn’t want to see you dead now, would I?” He sighed before thinking back to her earlier comment. “Why would you want to stop doing something you are good at? No really. But think about it, I didn’t even know about your naked photos when I first met you.”
He didn’t speak much for the rest of the time they were sat in the tree, he was for the first time in a while, comfortable with their silence; he could have sat there for hours if it weren’t for the weather changing, a sharp wind cutting though his thick shirt. “Come on.” He looked to Raeulf’s fragile frame and didn’t want her to catch an awful cold. Carl quickly got out of the tree (it being far easier than actually climbing) and put his shoes on, waiting for Raeulf to go the same. He walked her back to the large house. Eyes were looking at them, some in a confused state of wonder, others more judgemental or condemning. But as far as they knew Carl wasn’t a particular threat when it came to the war, he would just have to keep any intelligence he obtained quiet and to himself. “Come on.” He half grinned walking up the sets of stairs towards the room they had recently changed to. “I want to hide from your friends. I’m sure that they are going to tell be off quite a bit.” Carl’s hair was getting too long for his liking, flicking around his eyebrows and getting into his eyes a little t the right angle. “I will stay away from him, but only if you want me to. I don’t mind sitting outside of this place until you are ready to leave and have information, if you would want me to keep him away from you… I know he was you good friend. I…” He didn’t want to see her hurt again, but he couldn’t manage the sentence; knowing how much hurt he had caused her before now.

Re: National Socalists
“Why would you want to stop doing something you are good at? No really. But think about it, I didn’t even know about your naked photos when I first met you.” She laughed at him at first, thinking he was joking but when he turned to her, she stopped, smiling a little before dropping her eyes down to her hands in her lap. ‘When you first met me,’ she started, then looking up to him ‘you couldn’t dance.’ She smiled, resting her head on his shoulder. Staying silent until the sun began to go down and the wind began to pick up. She began to shiver a little in the cold, only wearing her little tennis dress from earlier and a white cardigan. At his request, she climbed down after him, her bare feet apt for gripping onto the bark ‘stop looking at my ass would ya?’ she laughed, hopping down onto the floor and pulling on her white plimsolls. Raeulf was good at pretending, she did it for a job, she did it in her spare time. She often thought that she would be better as an actress, or would have been before the theatre was banned. Walking through the house, she held her head high, like nothing had happened. It was like she was the regular Raeulf, brash, bold, intimidating and demanding. She stopped herself at the stairs, looking around for where Carl was but soon spotting him walking up in front of her. “Come on.” his grin made her smile; she had missed it – perhaps beating up another person made him happier.
She followed him up to their room, closing the door after them. She stood at the door for a moment, waiting for him to say something. “I want to hide from your friends. I’m sure that they are going to tell me off quite a bit.” she laughed, walking over to where he was sat on the edge of the bed and sitting behind him and playing with his hair. ‘Gerhard will stay away from you anyway… but yes I would give Trula a wide birth.’ Trula, being a little more educated than herself, was often stricter and more eloquent in her reprimands than Raeulf who was more easy going. “I will stay away from him, but only if you want me to. I don’t mind sitting outside of this place until you are ready to leave and have information, if you would want me to keep him away from you… I know he was you good friend. I…” she smiled, sweeping his hair out from him eyes and taking his face in her palm. ‘You’re a bitch you know that.’ She grinned, knowing that he would take it negatively and kissing his neck. ‘You beat someone off me, sit with me in a damn tree and still can’t say it?’ she pulled away, looking in his pretty blue eyes. ‘I’ll go have a meeting with them tomorrow, get some leads… but right now…’ she played with his collar ‘Right now, I wanna be with you.’ Taking off her cardigan and hanging it over one of the corners of the metal bed frame, she sat on the bed, legs outstretched and kicking off her shoes and socks. Patting the bed next to her, she waited until he was comfortable before speaking again, drawing circles with her finger on his hand 'You know, your hair's getting pretty long.' she said, leaning into him a little before pulling away again 'So you didn't know about my pictures?' she said, a little pout on her face. 'Did you not get any when you were fighting? Come on! You didn't read any of that kinda stuff?' She looked at him with a complete aghast expression. 'What do you mean they were circulated...My God... you are square...' she giggled a little a his response 'Oh really?' raising an eyebrow, she rolled over, kicking one leg over him and sitting up again, now straddling him. 'Well if you never got any of my pictures...' she said, playing with his buttons 'then you must've been getting excited over some other girl's pictures... oops.' she said, undoing one of his shirt buttons. 'Don't look at me like that pretty boy' she was slowly leaning into him, her chest now pressed up against his, a carefully articulated innocent expression on her face 'don't you wanna play with me?' tugging on his shirt a little, she stared at him, goading him with her eyes. Just as he was about to cave in, she rolled off of him again, crossing the room with a laugh 'I've got something in my suitcase...' bending over and opening the clasps only to be pulled up again 'Carl!' she exclaimed 'No, no I've got a present for you...' she giggled 'come on, come on pretty boy, you'll like it, I promise...' prizing herself away from him again, she rooted around her suitcase, finally pulling out a rectangular paper bag and clasping it to her, grinning at him again with pursed lips before backing out of the room and into one of the bathrooms on the hall, changing into what she had brought with her.
Poking her head out of the bathroom door again to check if anybody was around, she was suitably impressed. Finding the coast clear, the click of her heels along the wooden corridor echoed as she grabbed the handle to the door once more, opening it slowly and slipping inside. Smiling at his comment, she walked into the room a little further, standing at the foot of the bed that he was still laid in. 'I felt bad that you haven't had any of my pictures.' untying the silk sash from her waist, she dropped the robe to the floor. 'So I thought that i'd give you one.' She was dressed in a black one peice with lace and clipped on suspenders. Her flame red hair was curled around her shoulders as it usually was, but the mischievous smile on her face made the whole picture more inciting. Moving to stand by the side of the bed, she looked at him for a brief moment before deciding against the shoes, bending over almost folding herself in half in front of him to slip them off. Flicking her head back again, she crawled onto the bed with him, 'take your shoes off honey.' she said, wondering what he was going to do next, weather he was going to go quietly or take control. Once his shoes were gone, she placed herself between his legs, her back against his chest, then, slowly, began to unclip her suspenders and roll down her stockings. The night had fallen, not that you would know, the noise outside from the gale was blasting against the thin windows and the rain was hammering down on the roof. One of the windows must have been slightly ajar as a gust of wind flowed through the room, expelling any further light from the lamps. They were now in the dark together, Rae's heart rate increased with every movement he made, her small gasps being drowned out by the wind but they were close enough for him to hear. She lifted her hands to grip onto his strong thighs, her breaths echoing out in the large room. A small smile still played on her lips, waiting for his next move.
