The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Mon Aug 01, 2011 9:43 pm

Full Name: Felicity Rebecca Moran
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Country of Origin: Ireland
Race: Pureblood Witch
Dorm: 2nd floor 1st year female dorm 6
Personal History: Felicity’s family once were of a high social status hundreds of years ago but in the last two centuries the Moran family distanced itself from the wizarding world and its socialites, instead keeping to itself. Felicity had been to several witches academies before Astonaera but was ‘asked to remove herself’ due to dangerous behaviour. She is the younger of two siblings, having an older brother who worked in a confidential part of the Irish council, no one really knew what he did.
Likes: Causing trouble, getting involved in other people’s business (especially relationships), pushing her boundaries with teachers and her colleagues, food, exploring and duelling.
Dislikes: Losing or not having the last word, people who try and act like someone else or the over the top ‘goody two shoes’ types. Felicity isn’t a fan of sharing or being told what to do and most of all she hates the dark, though, she would never tell anyone that.
Personality: Felicity is the all in all rebellion, though very gifted in many aspects of magic tends to abuse her talents by using them to cause harm or generally cause trouble, if told to do something she will do the opposite automatically unless there is something in it for her. Underneath her extremely hardened exterior is a slightly more human girl; one with fears and feelings but only her family have seen that, no one else has tried to get past it.
Classes Taken: Compulsory: Herbology and herb lore, Defence, Charms and potions, Transfiguration and astrology.
Extracurricular: Duelling team and endurance tournaments.
Speciality: Her ability to call upon elements in duelling, the use of fire has been her most frequent.

Full Name: Lucinda Laurendale
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown
Country of Origin: England
Race: Mixed blood, the most prominent human/witch
Dorm: Professors hall, room 17
Personal History: Lucinda has never revealed much about her past all is known is that she is one of the longest serving professors at Astonaera. With serpentine in her blood and several long scars across her shoulders there has no doubt been something interesting.
Likes: Her snakes, quiet, reading, Duelling, exploring the grounds.
Dislikes: Chaos, loud noises, loudmouths, cocky purebloods and angry mixed bloods.
Personality: Lucinda has always been cool headed, she is a stern teacher but hardly ever shouts, she can command respect easily and can just as easily intimidate students. But is someone is deserving and hard working she will give them all the help they could need.
Classes Taught: Charms, Defence and Astrology
Speciality: Her bond with Snakes, she can speak to them, call upon them and control them. Lucinda herself is very much like a snake and can call upon several of their attributes when needed.

Full Name: Jacob Zodrain Elladora
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Country of Origin: England
Race: Mixed blood, part unknown, for good reasons
Dorm: Male Dorm West, room 28
Personal History: The Elladora family do not have much history to their name, and for good reasons, legend has it that they were once part of the dark circles of magic, practising forbidden arts and expelling their own souls to gain power. But this is all rumour. Jacob’s more recent family are an extremely well off family in England who sent Jacob and his two older sisters to Astonaera in order to hone their skills. Jacob is aware that he is not a pure blood but his parents have never told him anymore, he has often seen things in dreams and even during the day, hallucinations of darker things to come.
Likes: Womanizing, To win, duelling, Unicorn care, exploring the castle’s grounds and other mixed bloods
Dislikes: Cocky pure bloods, loosing at anything, be it a test or a tournament. People who think they are better than everybody else, Herbology (because he is so terrible) and vegetables
Personality: Jacob is an extremely competitive person, but does so in quiet, he can be extremely two faced and cold to those that he doesn’t want around but extremely charming to those he does. Easily frustrated and not so easily calmed down Jacob is a worthy adversary. With the need to be good at everything Jacob spends alot of time reading and studying, when not training for Duelling or Knest.
Classes Taken : Compulsory: Herb lore and Herbology, Astrology, Divination, Muggle Studies and potions
ExC: Knest and Duelling
Speciality: Divination (and dark arts).

Gender: Male
Age: 17
Country of Origin: England (Family originates from Romania)
Race: Pureblood Wizard
Dorm: West wing room 15
House: Somery - Green and Gold
Personal History: The family Whitehall have been an established pureblood wizarding family for hundreds of years. They’re one of the richest and well respected families and they know it. Ludovic is the youngest of three siblings. His oldest sibling Eleanor is now the deputy-head mistress of an all-girl witches college in the south of France and his older brother Vladimir having finished school two years ago now lives in Hungary working in their magical council. Least to say Cael has a lot to live up to.
Likes: Duelling, sports and basically anything competitive. Living in the shadow of his siblings, he has an incurable need to be the best at everything he does.
Dislikes: Annoying young girls, non-magical humans, loosing, being wrong, rejection and being compared to his older siblings.
Personality: Cael was teased by his older siblings as a child, making him both extremely competitive and driven. Due to these qualities it has made him ultimately selfish and easily hurt, his anger can be uncontrollable at times and his attitude of superiority makes him almost insufferable. To his friends however, he is funny and loyal, once he gains a friendship, it’s hard to sever.
Classes Taken: Alchemy/Potions, Astrology, Magical creatures (inc. Care and Flying), Classical studies, Charms and Transfiguration. EXTRACURRICULAR- Duelling team, political society and the Knest team (inc. Escorial and other indoor sports.)

They became inseparable friends and went to prep-school together, now finally ending up at Astonaera together a year later than they should have done.
Likes: Sports, jokes and having a good time, he often tells stories to his younger siblings.
Dislikes: Work, effort, early mornings, exams, porridge and anybody disrespecting his family.
Personality: Finn is a light-hearted and fun loving guy, he loves his family, but can get really nasty when anybody disrespects them. He gets jealous very easily due to being part of a large family and he’s an incurable layabout, but apart from that a great guy.

Gender: Female
Age: 16
Country of Origin: France
Race: Half-blood Elf
Dorm: 2nd floor 1st year female dorm 4

Personal History: Agni’s mother was a high Elf priestess who was exiled by the court for marrying a human. Her mother died giving birth to her, and so she was left to be cared for by her wizarding father Timothy. She lived a simple life until she received her acceptance letter into ‘L’Ecole du Annabeth pour filles Magique et Herbologie’ where everything went downhill. She spent two years being bullied by the other girls for various things until finally she ended up being viciously attacked by a witch due to her mixed race background. Her father pulled her out of school and sent her to Astonaera college for Witches and Wizards. They were a poor family and had to scrimp
Likes: Being left alone, plants and being with her father.
Dislikes: Any kind of female, breaking the rules, being late and bullies.
Personality: Due to her past, Agni is a naturally tentative and shy person. She steers clear of women and is too shy to talk to men, therefore leaving her a lot of the time alone with her plants and her books. Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Tue Aug 02, 2011 8:45 am

The old car trundled along the long gravel path in the late afternoon sun. The sky was streaked with brilliant blues, reds and purples, showing the heat of the day gone by. The driver was an unusual man, sat on top of a pile of thick books, his eyes only just peered over the aincent steering wheel of the old ford. The sound of the tyres going over the rubble on the road was enough to keep the young nobility awake in the back of the car, Ludovic Phillip-Cael Oberon Isembard Von Whitehall stared out of the window at the passing hills, ruins and fields filled with sheep, with the most unamused look on his face. 'How am I to be sure that they aren't sending us out into the middle of no-where to kill me and claim my inheritance?' He sighed, talking to his travelling partner in the next seat. No reply came apart from soft breathing, the mousey haired boy turned to see his companion, head resting on his propped up elbow, asleep. 'Finn...? McDognhue!' The freckle-faced redhead woke with a start. 'Wha... Oh yeah... nice isn't it?' Cael sighed moodily. 'That isn't what I said.' The two boys must have been in the car for hours now, the rusty suspension was starting to be a pain and the light was fading, Cael certainly didn't want to arrive by moonlight. 'How much further Griendfin?' He announced loudly, even the way he spoke seemed superior. The dwarf didn't answer, instead, they rounded a corner and the whole countryside seemed to flatten out to behold an extensive castle-like building on the edge of a lake that could almost be called a sea. On one side of the lake was A large forest and some other smaller buildings. The younger of the two boys whipped off of his sunglasses in pure amazement, pressing his nose up against the windows. 'Wooooaaah... Cael lad! D'you see this! Its bloody huge!' the other boy shrugged his broad shoulders, the look of boredom never leaving his face. 'It looks just like Prep... but bigger...' Finn groaned at his friend's lack of enthusiasm 'Are you kidding me!? This is insane... Oh... OHooohhh I think I just Came! Look at the Knest courts... Oh sweet Jesus Cael...'

The car came to a slow stop around a large stone clock tower looking thing outside the main gates where a group of other first-years were congregating. Ludovic's lip curled up in distate. 'I told you we'd be the oldest here Cay... they look like a bunch of pansies too... Hay wait up.' He hurridly opened the door of the car to clamber out after his best mate. He looked over to him. Finn smiled remembering the first time he'd ever seen Cael, he looked the same as he did then, arms folded with an expression on his face like he had smelled something nasty, eyes darting about at other people but still completely bored. He didn't think much of him then, but they soon grew to be friends.

The car drove away, leaving the suitcases and the boys, alone in a group of giggling witches. 'Are you Ludovic Von Whitehall?' one of them squeaked, Cael towered over them all, he was a tall lad with fabulous bone structure. His angular brow shadowed his eyes as he looked down to the girl who had dare spoken to him. It made him look all the more menacing. Before he could say anything remotely spiteful, wingman Finn stepped in 'Indeed he is ladies, and I am McDognhue. Finn McDognhue. Nice to meet you.' He flashed them a grin sending them all into fits of giggles, Cael rolled his eyes. He was always doing that, a bit of a casinova, or a bit of a dick head in his opinion. Suddenly a noise arose from the front of the group, somebody was speaking.

Agni had been dropped off early by her Father, his nervousness only slightly less than hers. 'Now have you got everything? Your books... where's your glasses? Oh you're wearing them, now Agni.' He turned to his daughter, looking her in the eyes and smiling, a hand on her arm. She was literally shaking all over. 'It's all going to be okay, okay?' he sounded like he was reassuring himself more than anyone else 'The headmaster and your teachers have all been informed on your situation, you don't have to speak to anyone if you don't want to, and you know how to contact me if anything goes... well... nothing will go wrong so we wont worry about that will we? Okay... Okay, well.' He patted her arm and she nearly jumped out of her skin. 'Daddy...?' came a small whimper from behind him, he turned back around to see his daughters eyes clouded with dark-blue tears. 'Oh, oh god, Aggs, it's alright, come here.' She ran into his open arms for a loving embrace. 'Shh, it's alright, i'm not going anywhere. You can come back for holidays, and I'll visit you mid-term to see how you're getting on okay?'

Agni watched her father go, her heart sinking. There was no running away now, she had no idea where she was. The one goos thing about getting there early was, she was the only one there, so she had time to collect her thoughts. She uncurled a peice of paper from her shirt pocket on the inside of her school vest. It had one word scrawled on it 'Thrisdin.' she muttered repeatedly, attempting to get herself to remember it.

More and more students began to arrive until the clock-tower was almost full. She stood alone conservitavely for a while before an older, distinguished woman stepped forth 'Students! Excuse me!' silence took over. 'I am Professor Eature. Deputy Head. If you would kindly listen to me as I fill out the formalities. You were all assigned a house before arrival, either Hadinas, Thrisdin or Somery. The house system is for points, dining emergencies and common rooms. Dorm rooms and lessons will rely on age and skill rather than your house. HOWEVER, you will first be shown to your common rooms and then your dorms before collecting back together in the main hall for an official welcome.' Agni looked around shakily, she was right at the front and was sure everyone could see her. 'Please, come with me.

They were all shown to their respective common rooms, their cases and belongings being left behind to be taken up by the servants. Soonafter was dinner in the Great Hall.

Cael and Finn had thankfully been assigned the same house, so sat together at the Somery table for dinner. They were greeted by the Head, who looked like Old Merlin if ever anybody saw him, and then they introduced the teachers. One that stood out to him was the woman at the end, black hair and long fingernails, by her posture he could just tell they might not get on. 'Thank God.' Finley muttered next to him 'I'm starving.' Cael turned back to face the table and saw the unimaginable spread of food infront of him, not that he was interested in most of it. He waved his hand over his goblet and muttered an incantation. To his surprise, the goblet merely sparked and then remained empty. 'What the hell...' he grumbled, Finn turned to him 'Sorry mate, that might work at home but... well you're technichally still underage eh?' He'd guessed that he wanted something a little stronger than cranberry juice. 'Mm whatever. Just eat will you?' Finn grinned and proceeded to do so, tucking into his roasted chicken legs and apple sauce. Cael scanned the long table, nobody particularly interesting was sat there, he recognised a few faces, the alabaster twins were sat a few seats down from him, Emma Schrieber from Germany on the Hadinas table chatting away with her loggerhead of a boyfiend Gron Lifterin. There were some beautiful women there, no doubt Finley had already spotted them, but as he was about to bring his goblet of sparkling water to his mouth, he spotted sombody unusual. 'Finn.' The scottish lad looked up to his friend, his mouth smeared with what looked like gravy, but really could be anything. He had that distant look in his eyes again, that one that Cael only got when he was really thinking hard about something. His brow was furrowed too 'What?' he grunted, wanting to get back to his food. 'Who is that?' he needed his head toward the end of the table, Finn looked up, straightening up a little to try and see 'Who's who?' 'That girl, with the dark eyes. Who is she?' Finn spotted her and flicked through his personal archive of names in his head, 'Err...' he screwed up his face in deep consentration, not something you saw every day. 'I believe... no...' Cael snapped his head around to face his friend, his eyes still fixed on the girl however. 'What? McDognhue...' he growled 'Nah, she uh, well, she looks like a Moran... but I thought there was only one Moran child... Oh no wait, she is a Moran, youngest one. Got some airy-fairy name, Flora or something...' he said, his voice muffled by half-masticated carrot. 'Moran.' Cael repeated, studying her face before finally taking a drink and lowering his eyes.

Agni spent the whole evening trying to get out of people's way. She was often in the way. Her almost-white hair was plaited over her shoulder loosely and her white uniform socks falling down her thin legs. Her glasses were far too big for her and she looked like a frightened mouse. At dinner, she sat alone at the Thrisdin table, eating vegetables in moderation before finally being sent up to their dorm-rooms. Once there, she panicked. 'Oh no oh no oh no...' she muttered to herself, walking into the room of girls. She ran over to her four-poster bed and collected a few things, taking off of her shoes, socks and cloak, she threw her glasses on the bed, grabbed a book and her favourite potted plant and ran out of the dorm. There was no way she couls sleep in there with a bunch of girls. No way, no how. She walked out of the coridoor, her feet padding lightly on the cold stone, all the way to the Thrisdin common room. Once there, she shut the door behind her and took a big sigh of relief. She seemed to be alone. The log fire roared into life as she took a step into the room. She walked over to one of the comfortable armchairs in her house's colours of green and gold and sat down, carefully placing her potted plant beside her on a low table, she opened her book and flicked through the pages.
Agni always felt best at home when she was with her plants, of course that was probably due to her being half elf, but she felt it to be more than that. She pulled her plait around her shoulder to wind her delicate fingers in her hair, her bare feet up on the arm of the sofa and her dark, short uniform skirt contrasting her milky-white skin, she felt more relaxed than she had all week. That was, until she heard a noise. 'What?! Oh my goodness... I'm so sorry, I thought I was the only one here, oh gosh, I'm sorry, I'll just leave...' she fumbled around a little, her face flushed at the realisation that she wasn't alone. She was shaking so much that she dropped her book. 'Oh, I'm sorry!' She exclaimed, bending down hurridly to pick it up, holding it now firmly in her hand, she looked back up to the person in the room. It was a young wizard, perhaps a little older than her but certainly taller than her. 'I'm Agni.' She blurted out, before she knew what she was doing. Shocked at her boldness, she held the book infront of her face to shield herself from any further embaressment. 'I'm sorry, I'll leave you alone now.' She picked up her plant and walked past him hurridly, about to walk back out of the door when he spoke.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Tue Aug 02, 2011 12:24 pm

Felicity’s mother was only willing to drive her so far. “But mam!” Felicity whined in the back of the car, surrounded by bags and cases. “I don’t even need all of these things, how d’you suppose I get to there w’all this on my bloody back?” Felicity’s rather flustered mother turned back to look her in the eye sternly. “Not all of these bags are yours, I’m going away to visit grampa whilst you’re gone. And besides, you haven’t seen aunt aggie in months now have ya?” Felicity rolled her eyes and crossed her arms dramatically. “They’re just gonna get rid’a me you know that mam?” “No, they won’t! Felicity please I am trying to drive and we have gone over this a thousand times! Your father knows a few people at the school, explained the situation and has assured me that no first years are expelled unless they actively kill another student! And if y’do that I swear on m’mam’s grave you’ll wish y’were never born!” There was a tense silence for the rest of the journey; it was a tradition of the family on both sides to go to Astonaera and her mother and father weren’t about to let that stop. Pulling the car up outside of an old tavern an eccentrically dressed woman ran out to greet the pair. “Oh hush Aggie! Just get her to the gates before she makes a run for it!” Felicity sat up front with her aunt but kept her attention on the countryside, she was desperate not to go to the school, everyone said that her talents were great so she didn’t see the reason of going at all if they weren’t going to teach her something that she couldn’t learn from a book at home. But just as the thought sprung to mind she could see her dad before her with that uncompromising look on his face. “Darlin’” He would say. “You’re a pure blood, naturally talented. But you need to learn to control your talent. You cannot just go around doing what you like! Hopefully Astonaera will teach you that better than your mother or I.” Felicity smirked. as if!
Her aunt drove up to the second set of gates but decided to turn around there. “You don’t need me wasting your time here, go on have some fun you miserable child! You’re parents can’t see you here!”

Jacob Zodrain Elladora! You get back here this instance!” A woman cried as the tall boy flew down the stairs, carrying his suitcase effortlessly. He had been staying with his cousins and aunt not too far from the school in preparation for his second year. But sure enough before he reached the kitchen the small get haired woman had caught up with him. “You think you can just leave without doing your chores? Well you are far from wrong mister, you may be an Elladora but you aren’t above getting your hands dirty. Your cousins are starting this year and do you see them lazing around the house like I am their maid? no. Now you get back up those stairs right now or you won’t be stepping outside of this house for the rest of the year!” But Jacob had already started to flee the little woman, taking three steps at a time in order to get to the door. Bursting into the midday sun he flew down the path to see a few friend of his waiting in a car. “Zodrain! C’mon!” He laughed and piled into the back of the car, suitcase uncomfortably leant on his lap. “Ready for duelling this year?” He asked the rest of the full car, causing an uproar of cheers. It seemed to be a male thing, the duelling team. There were very few girls and the boys took it very seriously, sometimes more than Knest.

The five young men piled out of the car by the clock tower and watched the car as it reversed by itself and by the end of the drive had disappeared. “Bloody love that car.” One of the boys remarked, quickly silencing with the voice of the deputy head. Jacob already knew that he was a part of Thrisdin house so decided to take a moment to relax, he was only with the first years because he failed Herbology last year. How he hated plants. Jacob even had the same room in the dorms this year, his parents paying extra for him to have his own space. It had been cleaned and all of his things were back at home, apart from books and uniform that is. With twenty minutes or so until they had to be in the main dining hall Jacob lay back on his bed mentally re picturing some of the first year girls, they were a lot better looking than last year.

Felicity’s parents however had thought it were best if she learnt the art of cooperation and sharing and let her stay in one of the dorms. From the second she was in the room she hated it. It was far too noisy and there were other girls who couldn’t control themselves, running around and desperate to make friends, Felicity didn’t care for that yet, she got the bed closest to the main door placed her suitcase on it and headed off towards the common room. It was impressive to say the least but a little dull. Walking further in Felicity caught sight of herself in a large mirror, the flames from the fire giving her face a pinkish hue. She looked ridiculous in the school uniform; Skirt, white blouse and jumper, all with the emblem of her house; Somery. But at least everyone else looked ridiculous too. Down in the main dining hall everyone was having a good time, eating and drinking. Felicity however wasn’t too focused on eating however with her wand half up her sleeve she was knocking over drinks halfway up to table and seeing if anyone noticed. But all that was taking the girls eyes at her end of the table was the famed Von Whitehall boy. “I couldn’t care less.” She sighed, only eating jelly. “Posny by name, probably ponsy by nature.”

Thrisdin’s table was extremely up beat this evening, Jacob was sat at the furthest end with his friends , charming their food in to wandering about the table and fighting; currently a chicken leg squaring up to what looked like a half eaten pastry. They didn’t pay too much attention to what was going on with the teachers and the other tables, they were too concerned with what lessons they had the next day; it seemed that for Jacob Divination was first on the menu.

Miss Lucinda Laurendale was the first professor to be introduced. She looked out at the vast sea of students and wondered what was in store, of course she could pick out the troublemakers in each of the houses but they didn’t interest her, it was the students that looked promising that she set her eyes on. Straightening the sleeves of her robes she caught sight of Ludovic Von Whitehall, the famed young man. They caught sight of each other briefly and Lucinda could tell that the year was going to be an interesting one; there was something about him that she wasn’t quite sure about. I’ll be keeping a close eye on that one... She thought, assuming he was going to be yet another rich pure blood out to cause trouble. Another student she actively searched for was Agatetcher à Belle, being one of the more superior staff members she was made aware of special situations and she was one of them. Hearing about her bullying Lucinda was going to keep a watch over her; knowing exactly how it felt to be outcast and pushed for being a mixed blood. Eating slowly she kept watch, not really talking to any of the other teachers; they didn’t seem to mind, seeing this as one of Lucinda’s ways at the start of the year. She usually came around by Christmas. Until then she was like a statuette of a hawk; simply watching.

The feast in the Grand hall was coming to an end, students were just starting to leave as Felicity made her quick escape, but too preoccupied in trying to remember which dorm she was in, she walked straight into two boys. Looking up to see the one that the girls were talking about and his friend she pushed past “Watch where you’re blood going! Bloody ‘ell” And continued out of the Grand Hall and up to flights of stairs to her correct dorm. No doubt there was going to be little sleep, Felicity called upon a little spell she knew, making herself temporarily deaf, only for a few hours in order to get some sleep. She had Divination first thing in the morning so wanted to start sussing out her fellow students quickly, and perhaps seeing what she didn’t already know.

Jacob however had no interest in going back to his room just yet, the common room fire seemed much, more inviting. He sat in the shadows of the room with a book in hand. Jacob was all up for the fun with his friends and the messing around, but now and again he genuinely did like the quiet, and with a book in his hand Jacob did look the intellectual part. He was in there for a considerable amount of time before he heard any movement. Looking around the corner he saw a first year, obviously part elf. Putting his book back on the shelf he walked into the firelight, though a little surprised by her reaction. “Hey... no.” He put an arm out. “Don’t leave on my account, sorry for startling you!” Jacob spoke softly and laughed a little, she was obviously nervous still. He leant down to help her pick up the book but she was quicker. As the young elvish girl stood up Jacob felt more aware about how tall he was. He smiled at her outburst and followed her as she went towards the door. “Hey, don’t do that.” Jacob effortlessly took the plant pot from her hands and walked in back onto a table. “Come back Agni, it’s nice to meet you!” Jacob sat down and shrugged gently. “I’m Jacob, sorry I didn’t say before, and sorry for being so quiet earlier, I just like reading up here on my own and assumed you were probably here to do the same.” He looked at the plant pot. “I’ve never seen anyone carry a plant around with them, you must really like Herbology...” Jacob smiled. “I’m terrible at it, I’ve failed nearly everything to do with it!” He spoke with Agni for a while longer but looked to the clock and sighed. “I think it’s time I left you alone now, it’s late and I don’t want to fall asleep in potions like I did last year on my first proper day.” He got up to the door and turned back to the young girl. “Good night Agni, sleep well.”

Felicity got up late as usual, but only late for breakfast, instead of her hair up neatly like her mother had insisted the day before it now hung loosely just below her shoulders a dark brown. Walking into the grand hall casually she sat at the end closest to the door and grabbed an apple quickly, there had to be only five minutes before her first lesson. Astrology. “Great.” A few hours of theory.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Tue Aug 02, 2011 8:26 pm

Cael and Finn walked up to the private rooms in the west wing together, of course because Finn hadn't much money, Cael had forced his parent to pay for a single room for him, the only thing bad about it was that they were on different coridoors to eachother. They were walking up the stairs, Cael casually talking to Finn in his same, slow tone he used with everything, and Finn was unashamedly checking out the women and completely ignoring him. Cael stopped talking for a moment and Finn looked up, only to be bashed through by the same girl his friend had pointed out at dinner “Watch where you’re blood going! Bloody ‘ell” she shouted back at them. Finn turned around to where she was going, his blood boiling 'Well how about you... you... yeah! That's right, walk away!' he was never one for comebacks. Cael smiled, nearly taking out a group of first year girls as he did. 'How come you don't get mad at stuff like that?' Finn grumbled as they made their way again 'I'm not a hot-blooded, red-headed half-blood.' he said with a smirk in reply, his eyes somewhere else. 'Oh I'm sorry Mr Von Eatyoursoul!' Cael looked back to his friend with a grin 'You should start worshipping my superiortiy right about now.'

Before Agni knew what was happening, her plant was snatched from her and he was walking away with it, she snapped around quickly, her fists clenches and her brow furrowed 'You bring that right back now Mr!' he had already slunk sown on one of the sofa's, her plant on the table. “I’m Jacob, sorry I didn’t say before, and sorry for being so quiet earlier, I just like reading up here on my own and assumed you were probably here to do the same.” She studied his face, her expression softening slightly as she realised he was being genuine. 'Oh... It's okay... and no, I was just going to sleep here tonight... a mix up with the rooms... probably didn't have any money to pay for a single room...' she mumbled to herself, a nervous habit of hers. There was an akward pause, akward on her part anyway as he seemed to be perfectly comfortable. “I’ve never seen anyone carry a plant around with them, you must really like Herbology...” She took a few steps toward him as she spoke 'Oh yes, I really like it... it's probably the one thing I'm good at... maybe...' “I’m terrible at it, I’ve failed nearly everything to do with it!” She looked up at him with wide eyes, her golden eyes reflecting the firelight 'Oh no that's terrible!' she ran over to the sofa to sit next to him 'You must be really bad at it because it's a really simple subject... Oh i'm sorry... I didn't mean that, what I meant was...' she looked up to him, but thankfully, he was smiling. 'Oh, um, anyway, We all have astrology in the morning but, um, Herbology is afterward, and um, you'll be in my class because I' a frist year and you... well... you failed... but I could, I could help you if... if you like... I mean I don't want to impose, oh nevermind, it doesn't matter. Are you on the Knest team?' her nervousness seemed to melt away as she carried on talking to him, there was something about him that seemed to exude calm. “I think it’s time I left you alone now, it’s late and I don’t want to fall asleep in potions like I did last year on my first proper day.” She glanced at the clock too, frowning at how late it was getting. 'Yes, potions is a terrible place to fall asleep.' “Good night Agni, sleep well.” He was by the door now, she stood up. 'Goobye Jacob, see you in Herbology.' he left as she was still stood looking at the door. Suddenly she turned, looking for the waterbasin, once she found it she passed her hand over it, closing her eyes, and opened them again to see her father. 'Daddy! Sorry to call you so late but... I've just made a friend!'

There was a sharp rap on Finn's bedroom door in the morning. Finn was still in bed, one leg hanging out and half the covers on the floor. He groaned as the knocking persisted. 'Ughhhhh... what is this noise at this ungodly hour...?' He rolled over, realizing a little too late that there wasn't any more bed to roll over into. 'Gah! Jaysus...' He got up, his red hair sticking out in all kinds of directions and his now grubby white shirt crinkled. He started stepping over clothes and books, his room already a tip after his first night of being there. He finally reached the door and opened it, only to see Cael standing there, looking grumpy (as always), dressed, and ready to go. 'What the hell man?' 'It's breakfast time. Get dressed.' He walked past him into his room, standing in one of the only clear spaces of floor. 'Ugh. You are a pig.' Finn closed the door behind him in bemusement. 'I'm giving the cleaners a chance to earn their money.' He muttered, rubbing his eyes. 'What time is it?' Cael turned around to him 'Six.' 'IN THE MORNING!? What are you bloody crazy!? Insane!' he exclaimed, throwing his arms up in the air as a sign of his disgust. Cael merely looked at him, one eyebrow raised. 'You take half an hour fiding your things, another 10 minutes playing with your hair and then god knows how long to eat the hoards of food you call breakfast.' Finn was now rumaging about in a pile of clothes. 'Most important meal of the day that is. And I'm sorry...' he came up with a shirt 'Aha! And I'm sorry we can't all have perfect hair that magically falls into place without messing with it Fuzz-face.' cael rolled his eyes 'Oh go eat a hamburger.' 'Go grow some facial hair.' The two boys glared at eachother before cracking out into bursts of laughter. 'Just get some clothes on already! I don't want to be late.'

Agni woke with a sharp pain in her side. She opened her eyes and slowly the sound of laughter rang in her ears 'Look at it, pathetic...' She quickly stood up, her plant pot firmly in her arms 'Wha... what time is it?' she asked the group of girls that had circled her in the common room. 'What you doing sleeping on the floor? Not used to beds are you mongrel?' Agni looked down to the floor as the laughter started again. 'Excuse me please' she whispered, trying to make her way through the group 'Not so fast Half-Blood. What are you anyway, a dryad, clinging onto that plant.' 'Excuse me.' She pushed her way through as they were laughing 'Run run little piggy!' one of them called, sending a charm after her. She ran through the door, slamming it shut behind her to escape the consequences of the spell. Sighing, she made her way back to the dorm to get dressed in some fresh clothes. Nothing had changed, it was just like her last school.

'What a load of rubbish!' Cael was squaring up with the teacher, who was considerably shorter than him. 'Mr Whitehall listen...' 'No you listen, I know the theory, I have been to prep school, why the hell do I need to be in here with a bunch of first years?!' The room was quiet as they watched what was going on. Finn however, used to this behaviour, sat with his head in his hands absent-mindedly making a paper crane fly about the room with his wand. 'Mr Whitehall please, no matter who your brother and sister were, it does not excuse the fact that you are a first year.' 'MY DAMN SIBLINGS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!' his shout nearly knocked the little woman over. She was just the theory teacher they had discovered over breakfast. The practical teacher was the woman he had seen at dinner, with the black hair and the eyes like a hawk. 'Give me that.' He growled, grabbing his theaory book off of her. 'I shall read-over this crap in my own time.' he turned around to Finn 'I'll see you in the practical lesson.' Finn waved his arms about lacidasically, frankly embaressed by being associated with that behaviour. Cael left the room, descending the stairs and heading for Classical Studies which he would take instead.

Agni was fortunate enough to be in another class to the outburst. Since she was part elf, she was in the advaced class as she already knew alot. She spent the lesson having girls pull her hair and sending threatening notes over to her from other tables. She was sat alone, as usual, but couldn't get out of the room fast enough for Herbology. She made her way out of the main castle and around the lake to the greenhouses. Waiting outside were alot of people, most of them looked like they'd been held back a year, a few were noticable half-bloods like her, fome faeries, some dryads and piskies, none of them looked very interested in herbology however. She looked around for Jacob, but he wasn't there. Her heart dipped a little, but not much, still she was amongst her plants. They were led inside the greenhouse to see rows of potted Fennocks. 'Now ladies and gentlemen, what can you tell me about these plants. Agni raised her hand sheepishly 'They uhm, they only flower under the most scrict circumstances, a Fennock will die if they aren't over a temperature of...' 'Yes thankyou Miss Belle. So, this in mind, your task will be to repot these plants, not seriously injure more than one and to follow my instructions as to their care... Ah... Mr Elladora... Late I see... Is this Dejavu?' The stout man shook his head at the late arrival, Agni looked over a leaf to see who it was and grinned, jacob had turned up afterall. 'Seeming as you are utterly hopeless at my lesson, go and sit with miss know-it-all over there, maybe some of her knowledge will rub off on you.' Agni turned to see who the professor was talking about but there was no-one behind her, confused she turned back around to see everyone looking at her. Her face flushed red. 'Right! Grab a sheet of parchment with the instructions on and get to work!' Agni didn't even botherr to wait for Jacob, or to take the instructions, instead she set straight to work. Within the first four minutes, she had re-potted her first plant. She smiled at her handiwork, looking over to Jacob. 'Oh my goodness... No!' she grabbed his dying plant off of him. 'What are you doing!?' she grabbed some water and doused the plant with it. 'Come here.' she demanded, grabbing his wrist and placing his hand on the bottom of the soil the plant was clinging to. 'Hold it under the light. No under My light. Closer, closer! Good. Now stay there while I just...' She reached up on her tiptoes to try and grab his light but couldn't reach. 'Darn...' she muttered, looking around on the floor before dragging a pot over and standing on it. From there she fiddled around with the light's settings, making it hotter and brighter. 'Pass me my wand.' She said, her mouth holding onto a wire. 'My wand, in my back pocket. Don't put the plant down!... Thankyoup!' She waved her wand about the lamp, it fizzled and then brightened considerably. 'There you go.' she said stepping down and wiping her hands on her apron. 'Now, come here.' She took the plant off of him, putting it under his light again and grabbed him, pulling him right next to her. 'How, here...' she took his hans and placed them on either side of the plant, holding them there. 'Now, breathe on it... just do it!' she watched him breathe on it before grinning broadly. 'Good...' she whispered, as a bud appeared at the top of the plant. She let go of his hands. 'Watch.' she whispered, leaning into the plant, watering it a little, then feeding it, holding the soil in her hands, repotting it, and then holding her hands over it. She closed her eyes, concentrating her whole energy on the plant. After a few seconds of doing this, somebody gasped. She opened her eyes and smiled, wiping her hand across her face. 'Good Lord girl, how did you manage that!?' The plant had gone from near-death, to having the most spectacular flower. 'Everybody! Gather around, see what miss Belle has accomplished.' 'Oh, no, this is Jacob's plant.' she said, glancing up to him. 'Well! Maybe I mis-judged you Mr Elladora.' Agni got on to her other plants, repotting them all as the Professor praised Jacob. 'Here, seeming as you did this...' the Teacher picked off the flower and gave it to Jacob 'This flower has the power to give the beholder luck for a whole day, nothing will go wrong for them. Congratulations Mr Elladora!' Agni smiled to herself. 'Class dismissed!'. The half-blood gathered her things and left the greenhouse before anybody could talk to her, walking across the green with a cutting in her pocket.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Thu Aug 04, 2011 9:07 am

Jacob’s room, though private, was still one of the smaller rooms in the castle; his parents hadn’t wanted him to become too high above his station. Jacob was still aware that his family wasn’t well liked, even if their crimes against the magic world were only rumour; society seemed to thrive on rumour and superstition. Jacob getting big headed wasn’t going to help anything. So in his modest privileges Jacob woke up at sunrise, even with the heavy curtains blocking out the beautiful sunrise he still knew that it was dawn and time to rise. His suitcases were still packed and his own wash room very much as the maids had left it. Jacob liked to think he was a very tidy and organized person but the truth was he didn’t want to unpack, in case something arose where he would have to leave; the truth was he was an overly cautious boy, one with good reason. Washing his face and brushing his teeth didn’t take too long; Jacob looked at the clock to see that he was in fact a good forty-five minutes early for breakfast. For a while Jacob stayed in the washroom, looking into the mirror at himself with an expression of deep confusion. He ran a hand through his dark auburn hair and let out a sigh, he nails were sharp again and he would have to file them down again. He pressed a hand against the cool glass to look at them; his nails had a natural point to them that he had to keep under control, as a child he often drew blood from his playmates accidentally. Uniform on, he filed his nails back down to a regular human style and left his private room.

Jacob surprisingly ate alone that morning, it seemed the rest of his second year friends had either slept in or completely forgotten that they need to eat in the mornings. He didn’t mind it gave him time to look around to see the rest of his house and it’s new members, along with the other houses. He caught sight of Cael, a boy he had heard about before and was very interested about. Jacob had been the best first year dueler in the last century and had heard that the Von Whitehall chap was just as good, if not better. If there was one thing that Jacob truly despised, it was being beaten or humiliated and he wasn’t going to let that happen. Jacob was good friends with the professor who ran the extra class’ daughter so would see that they were paired off on the first meeting in the next few days, but until then he had other things to be dealing with. Such as eating his several pieces of toast and preparing for his first lesson- the study of non-magical humans. He found them fascinating and really wondered what it would be like to have no magical ability, he once stayed in Somerset and had been intrigued ever since.

Felicity made her way into the theory of Astronomy with her regular ‘could be anywhere else right now’ expression. She knew from the start of the lesson that she wasn’t going to be paying attention, she wasn’t interested in the stars at the best of times, but reading about them in a book was just going to send her straight back asleep. She recognized a few faces, notably the two boys who she had ran into the night before, the posh one sat a behind her, the mouthy one to her left. She didn’t think much of either of them for the time being, there were people weaker than her that were going to be fun to aggravate. There was a girl sat in front of her who had obviously been held back a year, light brown curled hair to the bottom of her back. As Cael refused to stay in the lesson Felicity slowly wound the girls hair into a tight plait against one of the spindles in the chair’s back; nobody said anything but she assumed it was because no one was watching. Carefully putting her wand on the desk she looked around to see the red head floating a paper crane around and this instantly annoyed Felicity, she didn’t know why- most boys annoyed her. But with a whisper and a slight movement of her wand in her sleeve the crane made a small whistling noise before burning up without a flame and falling to the floor in a small pile of ash. She immediately looked to the red head with a wide eyed, yet smug expression. “Don’t look at me, I didn’t do it…” With a smirk she opened the theory book to the first page and read though the instructions and guides to naming the different constellations and their particular environments; dull things, things she already knew. She could feel eyes watching her, but she didn’t mind Felicity always felt the need to have fun when she could. As the lesson ended she looked out of the tall windows to see the end of the school grounds and where it leads on to mountains and valleys that seemed to have no bottom to them, darkened by a heavy pine forest. She knew that it was strictly forbidden to be outside of the dorms after hours let alone in the grounds, even more so outside the school walls. But with all the rules in place, it made her want to go more, there had to be so much out there that people didn’t really know about. Felicity had a defense lesson instead of herbology, something that she could really get into. Her parents had managed to get her into the third year lesson in order to improve her skills for dueling, though if anyone asked she would be going to something like excelled Charms studies.

Herbology was next on Jacob’s agenda and he was dreading the very thought of it. He hated the thought so much that he took his sweet time in getting to the lesson. He strolled in with as much confidence as he could muster. “Good morning to you too Professor, it’s good to see you again.” He paid little attention to her and instead smiled towards Agni as he saw the small evlish girl. “Well good morning, how did you sleep?” He looked at the plants in front of him, not exactly sure what they did. “I can imagine, those chairs are only comfy for a short while…” Jacob didn’t remember much of the rest of the lesson, but he knew that Agni was as brilliant as she made out to be; she was his ticket to flying through the lesson. He followed her out of the greenhouse, calling out. “Agni, hey Agni!” He caught up to her. “ Thanks for that, you know, that was amazing. What are you? Plant lady…Oh, sorry did I touch a nerve there? I meant it as a compliment.” He sighed. “You’ve got a real talent for that sort of stuff, mine is all in divination, especially Oneiromancy.” He stood close to her as they walked towards potions. “It isn’t great for fighting plants or whatever is out there, but I’m sure it will have its use.” He only knew too well that it did. “Can I walk with you to potions?” He paused “I mean since we are both walking that way, doesn’t make too much sense to go separate ways.” He walked by Agni towards potions in quiet, but it didn’t feel awkward; he could sense that she was a little more at ease around him.

Felicity had made it on time to her potions lesson, mainly due to Professor Laurendale had been teaching the third year defense lesson that she was in. But even getting to the lesson when there were seats to spare and to choose from Felicity still chose to stand near the back and close to the door there were a couple of cauldrons either side of her but given the reputation she had already given herself people were already starting to avoid her.

Jacob and Agni came in just afterwards taking two cauldrons near the front of the class. It wasn’t soon after that Professor Laurendale spoke. “Good afternoon students, my name is Professor Laurendale and I will be your potions mistress for the next year, and most likely the rest of your time her at the school.” She looked around at the classroom with a stern glare, she was assessing each and every student, and she could tell who wasn’t going to be worth her time and who was. But she was going to give each student a chance; only time would show those who had the talents to stay in her lessons, and those who would do better cleaning the cauldrons afterwards. “You, over there.” Felicity looked up, she had been moving around in the corner of Lucinda’s eyes. “Do you think it is acceptable not to be paying attention on the first day of your potions education? In a room with objects and liquids that could render you dead with a single drop?” Felicity shrugged. “It couldn’t have been me Professor.” “And why not?” “Because I’ve just been stood here, listening.” “Well tell me, what did I say?” And, with a self assured smile, Felicity read off everything that Lucinda had said. The class was silent. “Let’s hope your potion skills are a good as your hearing Miss Moran.” She then turned to the rest of the class, continuing with her usual first lesson instructions.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Fri Aug 05, 2011 12:07 am

Agni could hear Jacob calling to her, but decided not to look back just in case he decided to shout at her for taking over his work. Unfortunately however, he caught up with her, and what he did have to say was much worse - praise. “Thanks for that, you know, that was amazing." she turned the slight shade redder, smiling a little, but still looking straight ahead, her books clasped in her arms. "What are you? Plant lady…?" with the memories coming flooding back of how she was taunted with names such as that, she flinched, looking up to him with her big eyes filling slowly with tears. She stopped walking, dropped her gaze to the floor and muttered 'I'm sorry.' in a shaky and venerable sounding voice. "Oh, sorry did I touch a nerve there? I meant it as a compliment.” she looked back up to him again. 'Oh.' “You’ve got a real talent for that sort of stuff, mine is all in divination, especially Oneiromancy.” he continued, she smiled, relaxing again. 'Maybe that's because you don't have to try hard at It.' she said, taking a quiet dig at his intellectual level. “It isn’t great for fighting plants or whatever is out there, but I’m sure it will have its use.” 'What like... predicting the weather?' she said, grinning at her joke. They started walking along together around the lake and towards the main castle when he turned to her “Can I walk with you to potions?” she raised an eyebrow as he paused “I mean since we are both walking that way, doesn’t make too much sense to go separate ways.” she smiled as he walked closer to her 'I thought you already were... besides, I am in your class.' They walked in silence the rest of the way, she was just happy to have found a friend; she assumed he was comfortable in her company. They arrived at potions and sat next to each other, she had promised him that she would take the flower and make it into something more durable and perhaps increase its power a little.

Finn spent the rest of astronomy revelling in the boredom of theory lessons. He did however find some enjoyment in checking out all the girls and sending them little messages. All apart from the Moran girl who sat in front of him. She had killed his crane, which totally wasn't cool. He'd have to deal with her later. However, when the lesson finished, he really didn't fancy going to grade 1 charms, it would only be an introductory lesson and he was already bored out of his skull by astrology. He decided to skip also because Cael wasn't in his class; he was taking advanced charms and defence class with some professor or something. To cure his boredom therefore, he decided to go to the Somery common room, there were bound to be some good looking girls in there.
Luckily for Finn, there was. When swaggering into the room, he almost immediately spied a group of girls sat around a study table doing something that looked boring. He sauntered over to them, perching himself at the corner of the table. 'And what are you beautiful lass' up to eh?' he said, with the most suave voice he could muster. They looked up to him 'And whom do we have the... pleasure of addressing?' Said one brunette third year. 'I'm...' he was cut off mid-flow by a blonde second year with huge... eyes. 'I know you, you're the Scottish lad that hangs around with Ludovic Von Whitehall!' the other girls chattered and nodded in agreement. 'Yeah, I thought I recognised your face! Finnegan isn't it?' 'Finley but...' 'Aren't you a storyteller?' he sighed happily able to get a word in 'Why yes, yes I am.' they giggled to each other 'Tell us a story then Finley.' He grinned 'My Pleasure' he stood, the girls turning to them. 'Once, there was a handsome, Scottish prince',' he looked to the girls who began to giggle. Moving his palm in a crescent shape in front of him, suddenly the whole room disappeared and a blue sky appeared , it was like it had been painted with oils, a whole land had been created with hills and trees. He looked out into it, dotting the grass with flowers and rabbits. Looking back up to the girls, he grinned, watching them look around in awe. It was going to be a good day.

Cael arrived after a hard lesson of classical studies in the deputy-head's office. He sat in a comfortable looking chair whilst waiting for someone to arrive. He jumped when his name was called. 'Mr Whitehall I presume?' He stood and turned in one fluid movement to see her stood there. 'Professor Eature.' he nodded, then turning to the man stood next to her. He held out his hand 'I don't believe we have been introduced. Ludovic Von Whitehall.' The man smiled, shaking his hand 'I know who you are. I believe you have already achieved your third year certificate in charms?' he nodded in answer. 'Well... that certainly is impressive for a young man of your age. Then, I remember when your brother was here, quite the talented wizard he was...' Cael's expression seemed to freeze up 'I think you'll find my talent far exceeds that of Vladimir.' The man smiled, clearly impressed by his surety 'Well, we'll see about that. Professor Eature here has consented for me to personally teach you with he forth year students. But for today, we will have a one on one session, so I can see what you're capable of. My name is Professor Peram. But you may call me Kipp.' Cael nodded. 'Now Mr Whitehall, I caution you to use your talents wisely and adhere to the wizarding duel rules while in lessons.' Ludovic smiled at the deputy-head 'Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way.'

'The end.' Finn waved his arm through the mist that had created his dreamlike world, it whirled around his hands before thinning and eventually disappearing, leaving him with a table full of girls crying with joy. They clapped him vigorously as he bowed for them. ‘That... was the most... the most...’ one of them burst into tears again. Finn was soon by her side. ‘Oh there there princess, you know, my powers have the most powerful effect on people, sometimes even evoking emotions that you can’t possibly begin to understand.’ He caressed her face as the other girls crowded into him ‘Finley I...’ he turned to the third year who was about to speak and put a finger over her mouth ‘Please, call me Finn.’
‘Abstergo!’ A flash of blue light flew across the room at a panting defence teacher, his floppy blonde hair was in front of his face and his cloak thrown to the floor revealing his sweat soaked shirt. The Professor deflected the spell with expert skill and sent another one back ‘Anguis incantator!’ From the end of his wand, a long green smoke curled along the floor of the empty duelling room. When the smoke cleared, a cobra the length of the professor’s arm reared its ugly head, its fangs dripping with toxic venom. The teacher laughed at the look on his young opponents face. Cael hesitated, wondering what to do next. With a split second decision, he fired a spell at the snake ‘Stagno!’ The snake froze, and then expired into a pile of ashes. Ludovic, panting and no longer looking pristine with his shirt sleeved rolled up and his hair singed, then fired another spell at his mentor, only for the man to create a large mirror in front of him, before Cael could even think about doing anything else, his spell re-bounded right back at him, he tried to move but he was too slow as the spell hurtled past him, slicing open his arm. He cried out in pain and anger, throwing his wand to the floor to signal his defeat. ‘Damn!’ he shouted, gripping his now heavily bleeding arm with his free hand. ‘DAMN!’ he screamed, outraged with himself. He slunk to sit on one of the benches as his mentor ran over. ‘Let me look at that...’ Cael shrugged him off ‘Just give me my wand.’ The man did so, leaving the boy to tend to his wound. Hot steam curled out from the tip of his wand and onto the slash in his skin. Kipp watched him curiously before holding his hand out ‘Stop it; put your wand down... I insist you... Whitehall!’ he deflected the wand from his hand. ‘Now you listen to me boy. I don’t care how good you are, there is no shame in being beaten by me. I have trained all my life in the art of defence and attack and some kid ‘aint gonna change that. Now, let me see that.’ Cael glared at the man, his sleeve sodden with blood. ‘Hmm, powerful spell you have there, where did you learn this?’ Cael winced as he pointed his wand at it ‘Father...’ ‘Well your father sure knows a thing or two. Tantum sanguinis was it? Hmm, I suspected so. It cuts the victim about an inch, but causes the blood loss to increase tenfold.’ ‘I know.’ Growled Cael, looking at his arm, the blood now reversing back into his skin and the cut healing itself. ‘Very good, but you don’t know everything.’ ‘Then teach me.’ Ludovic nearly jumped at the chance ‘I want to learn more to...’ Kipp laughed ‘Ah my dear boy, I will. But now, it is time you changed your shirt... and then got off to your next lesson. I hear Professor Laurendale hates people being late.’
Cael climbed the stone stairs to look for Finn, he was well aware that he would’ve skipped charms, so looked first in the dining hall. Not finding him there, his second option was the common room. He could almost taste the estrogen when he walked in, and knew instantly that he must have been in there, he guessed amongst the congregation of women by the fire. Approaching the girls, his presence didn’t go unnoticed. ‘Hay, look its Whitehall...’ one of the girls pointed out, they all turned to look at him, then standing and flocking around him, leaving Finn sat on the floor with a defeated and frankly annoyed look on his face ‘oh my god what happened?’ ‘Did you get in a fight?’ ‘Wait you’re not hurt...’ ‘Can I have your phone number?’ ‘Are you really better than Vlad at charms?’ ‘Is it true that you have a pet griffin?’ Cael looked around utterly confused and bombarded by question. ‘Ughh...’ he groaned ‘Silentium.’ With one wave of his wand the girls froze, not a sound coming from them. Finn stood up ‘Dude totally un-cool, you just ruined my fl... woaahhh... what happened to you!?’ Cael grinned ‘You should see the other guy... Can I borrow a shirt?’ Finn laughed ‘What you think I just carry a spare around with me?’ ‘No, I know you carry a spare one around with you.’ Finn laughed ‘Alright alright, sure thing man, don’t be surprised if it’s too big for you though, my guns are quite impressive’ ‘Oh is that what you call them?’ ‘Shut up!’ Finn exclaimed, throwing a clean shirt from his bag at his friend’s face. ‘If I get something down this one, you’re running up to the dorms to get me a new one you know? Whatever man, I’ll see you in potions.’ He clicked his fingers and the girls all came out from their dreamlike state ‘Now, who wants to walk me to alchemy?’
Cael ran down to the dungeons with a fit of curses, cursing himself for being late. The bell had rang about ten minutes ago; he had to go back up to the dueling room to collect his books that he forgot despite meticulous planning. Finally, unbuttoning his shirt to replace it for the clean one, he reached the door, standing outside until he was appropriately dressed. Cael then pushed the door open in a flurry of confidence ‘I’m sorry I’m late Professor Laurendale, it won’t happen again.’ He found his way to a desk at the front of the room and sat down, slinging his bloody shirt over the back of his stool. He eyed the woman suspiciously; he didn’t know what to make of her. He set to work at the potion they were making. He thought to himself how unconventional it was to start straight with practical work, but he liked it; sort the wheat from the chaff, immediately showing who had some talent and who didn’t. Cael had the one they were supposed to be making completed by the time the fool next to him had finished weighing her ingredients.
On first sight of Cael, most people would have thought him to be the same snobby, pompous pureblood as his siblings before him, assuming he was better than everyone else just because of his bloodline, but Finn knew he wasn’t like that, looking over at his friend from a few rows behind, he could see his friend slaving away at the caldron, meticulously choosing the perfect ingredients and weighing them out exactly. Finn knew only too well how determined he was to excel, he had refused to go to watch Knest tournaments with him, and instead locked himself inside his room learning his theory and practicing his spells, he even enrolled in a summer school in order to prepare him for the workload. He wasn’t all that he looked, and if he was, he had the right to be pompous.

Agni looked at the purple bubbling substance in her cauldron with a look of confusion, then back to the instructions in her book, then over to Jacob’s deep blue mixture. ‘It’s not supposed to bubble is it...?’ she whispered over to him ‘well yours looks fine, I did exactly what it said to do in the... oh... three bottles of Aqua Liquidium...’ she was pretty good at potions... usually... but only ones that included plant ingredients, none of this magical liquid ingredient stuff. She added another vial of the missing liquid in hope that it would look like Jacob’s, unfortunately not, from purple it grew lighter and lighter until it churned like orange, liquid magma ‘Oh gosh... oh no... uh... uh...’ she grabbed a spoon from beside her and stirred the mixture, pulling it out again to see that the end of it had burnt off. ‘Oh Gosh! Um... Help?!’ she exclaimed, throwing her hand up in the air.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Fri Aug 05, 2011 11:58 am

“Miss Belle, what on earth have you d... how did you...quietus aperio! ” Professor Laurendale looked down into the cauldron as the burning hot magma slowly fizzled away into a very dark brown liquid and then reducing itself back to what looked like thick water. “Miss Belle, I suggest you read over the potion ingredients twice in future, but good try for a first effort.” Lucinda’s facial expression gave off no sympathy, though she meant well; a couple of students ruined their first potions but at least Agni asked for help whereas the others stood around with their hands in their pockets looking gormlessly at their cauldrons and most likely chewing their knuckles through their school jumpers. But there was hope in this class, talent. There were those who were getting along with the work fine, not struggling but not excelling; Felicity for example, along with a few half blood and another wizard. Those who weren’t doing too badly like Jacob and a handful of the first years but then there was the Whitehall boy. Walking past his cauldron Professor Laurendale noticed how fast he had completed the task she had set. “Well done Mr .Whitehall, well done indeed.” Again, her facial expression betrayed her emotion. The thin woman returned to the front of the class and spoke, her voice practically demanding the attention of each student in the room; and successfully received it. “Students, I have to say that this is going to be one of the simpler lessons and certainly one of the easiest potions to master. I suggest that after this lesson you all take your books and read over the main temperatures for the basic potions we will be covering in the next few lessons; and believe me, I will know who has done the work.”

Professor Laurendale set the class off onto their second and final potion of the lesson, “Students, this is potion that will most likely come in handy to you from today so I suggest that you learn this one carefully, here are the ingredients for the Invigoration Draught. Energising the drinker after a few mouthfuls, I know many a final year student use this to get through their exams, careful though, if done incorrectly you will come out in what can only be described as a nasty red rash and who knows, you could be taking your first trip to the medical wing...” Lucinda cast her hand out over the class and on the wooden boards beside the cauldron appeared the ingredients, nothing too complicated but she could already sense that something was going to go wrong.

As soon as felicity heard the medical warning her ears pricked up and she actually paid attention to the lesson; her potion had come out alright before, but she wanted to get this one right and perhaps make a few other people’s go wrong. Placing the items and liquids into the cauldron Felicity herself was surprised to see that her potion had come out more or less perfect the first time, she didn’t make a fuss and call over the professor, instead looked around the room to see what was going on. To look at Felicity, no one could really tell what she was like, only when she had that signature deviant look in her eye could anyone be sure what she was thinking. Not ever having that many friends, she had gotten used to being a lone wolf; a few people would talk to her now and then when back in Ireland but most were afraid of her turning around and doing something horrible, just because it felt like a good idea at the time; and most of the time, her ‘friends’ and family were right, there was always a trail of problems following her. Felicity scanned the room, looking for the weak, those who were struggling or not really paying attention. She found one girl grab her attention, she looked a bit like an elf or something and was struggling with a potion, Felicity didn’t know her name or care to know it, she just leant over her cauldron, took out her wand and whispered ever so quietly “aestus.” rapidly changing Agni’s cauldron temperature, ruining the invigoration draught. Felicity stood back, smug in the knowing that no one had saw her, or at least to her awareness no one had.

Jacob found the invigoration draught a little more difficult than the last one, he turned to Agni looking a little flustered from standing over the steam. “I bet this is what the cooks feel like.” He picked up the small pouch of arrowroot and stared at it intently. “Why can’t they just make these potions have rounded numbers, I can’t make 78 on this scale... can you try mine, your scale seems to work better.” He watched Agni with the arrowroot and the scales she seemed to be so articulate with what she did. “You’re very precise.” Jacob didn’t continue the comment, but took back the arrowroot and put it in his cauldron. The potion looked a little murky at first but after a few minutes of frantic stirring he managed to get the slightly lumpy, pea green liquid to settle. “Bon.” He smiled, hoping she liked his French. “How’s yours coming along?” Jacob leant over, looking into the cauldron, it was a better colour than his but as soon as it was stirred the liquid got very runny very quickly and suddenly went dark. “What the...” Jacob hadn’t ever seen an invigoration draught do that before. “Hey, step back!” Jacob took Agni by the shoulders, pulling her towards his cauldron as the liquid began to spill over and bubble madly. Professor Laurendale hurried over but just looked at the potion gloomily. “Well,” she looked to Agni. “It’s either your cauldron is faulty here or you need to learn how to pay attention Miss Belle.” She turned to the class, in the same stern manor. “Next lesson bring the larger textbook, I feel we need to go back to basics with a little theory...”

With the class over Lunch was called, Felicity didn’t care too much about filling her face again; she had free time after lunch to do as she saw fit which in the school’s eyes meant personal study, but to Felicity it meant have a look around the forest to see what was at the end. She had to see how high the wall in the forest was that separated the school’s grounds from the wilderness outside, she didn’t want to get there and not be able to get over, especially in the middle of the night, she would have to take a lantern or something, the thought of being lost in the darkness of the woods wasn’t something that she wanted to think about. Finishing off her bowl of soup Felicity slunk away out of the grand hall and casually walked down the hall towards the gardens, she could get into the forests from there.

Jacob left Agni as they entered the Grand hall; he had a lesson after lunch unlike the first years, so he was happy for the break and the food. He felt bad for leaving Agni to eat on her own but he was being called over by his friends and had a funny feeling that they would be a little overwhelming for her. But as he ate Jacob occasionally looked over to her, to make sure no one was giving her too much grief. Occasionally their eyes met but Jacob would calmly look away again to his food or to whoever was talking in his group. They were all dreading second year magical creature care as there was an assignment to complete over the summer that so far nobody he had asked had done. As soon as Jacob got outside to the lesson it seemed that anyone who hadn’t completed the assignment wasn’t to come back to the lesson until they had, which nobody seemed to mind, Jacob wondered where Agni might be and walked into the common room not to find her there, instead he found the knest tournament signup sheet, he gladly wrote his name down and instead of sitting down and starting the assignment he went back outside to look for Agni, he wondered if she was a knest watcher. But outside in the dim sunshine he could hear a little commotion coming from around the corner, he raised an eyebrow as he saw Agni have her books kicked over by another girl. “Excuse me!” Jacob laughed abruptly. “But do you think it’s funny to kick my books over?” He raised his voice a little, getting closer to the girl. “Do you have any idea how much these were to buy? I can’t leave my books with a friend for two minutes? What’s wrong with you, bugger off!!” The girl left sheepishly and in a hurry, Jacob then turned his attention to Agni, “What was that? Did she just come over and do ...that? I mean, kick your books over? How pathetic.” Jacob sat down next to her. “Are you alright?” He smiled. “I don’t get why people do that, girls especially...” Jacob looked at his watch; they had a couple of hours left until dinner. “Say, I need to go back to the common room, I have an assignment that I really should have done last term. You could come with me if you like... you know, at least people won’t kick your books then. Mainly because they’ll be too high and all the first years a kinda small.” He looked to Agni who was considerably shorter than him, “Not a bad thing, just inconvenient if you plan on kicking books off of a table... well, what do you say?”

Felicity however had found herself a little lost in the forest, she hadn’t gone in that deep but not paying attention to which way she was turning wasn’t proving to be a good strategy, she couldn’t tell which way led back to the castle; not that she was particularly worried, defence was one of her strong points, but didn’t want to miss dinner, she couldn’t sleep on an empty stomach. “I have t’be going in circles now...” She mumbled, swearing that she had seen a particular tree at least twice. But she began to doubt herself when she heard noises coming from not too far ahead. Wand drawn she edged closer, keeping out of sight she listened carefully to the peculiar noises, looking around a tree to see a couple hundred feet in front her Ludovic Von Whitehall, suddenly she was far less concerned and very much interested in what he was doing, it was almost as if he was fighting himself. She quickly made her presence known. “Practising for duelling?” She raised a knowing eyebrow, even if she had no idea at all. “You’ll need to practise if you’re against me...” She didn’t stay any longer, but picked another direction to walk in. To her surprise and pleasure Felicity found herself back at the castle with in good time for dinner. She sat in near enough the same place, surrounded by near enough the same people who still were trying to politely include her into their conversation, this time she actually listened to them about Whitehall, she was curious about him, why would he be practising out in the woods, there were training and practise rooms for that on the upper levels. She looked over to him now and then, but soon found that setting alight the end of a third year’s robe on the next table was far more entertaining, especially as the boy thought it was his cousin a few places down that had done it.

In the dorm that Felicity shared with five other girls she had the most sheltered bed, around a corner from the rest, next to the main door. It meant two things, no one bothered her at night and that she could have her light without people thinking too much of it, Felicity couldn’t sleep in darkness at all. She didn’t go to the common room after dinner, she refused to do the potions theory, it was prep school tripe. She changed into her sapphire blue pyjamas and sat cross-legged on the bed looking out of the window, itching to go out there and have a look around, or even the rest of the dorm wing. But it was still the start of the year and felicity knew only too well what her mother would do if she got a letter home this early into the year so for now she would have to look out the window, occasionally seeing the reflection of herself in the glass as the candlelight flickered.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Sat Aug 06, 2011 5:38 am

A shadow was cast over Cael as Professor Laurendale stood over his cauldron whilst he was busying himself bottling the potion. “Well done Mr .Whitehall, well done indeed.” he nodded to her in gratitude of his praise, or at least he assumed it was praise, seeming as she didn't really say much. When she announced the Invigoration draught he smiled to himself, having brewed up that particular draught many times. He was sat next to a girl who had quite obviously flunked last year’s potions class. She was much more interested on plaiting her hair than the lesson. This infuriated Cael; he hated how some people had no interest for learning or progressing. It was one of the few things he couldn’t stand about Finn, although he had the natural talent to pull it out of the bag at the last minute. He had fixed up the draught in a matter of moments, the cool colour of it brightening a little as he added some extra ingredients of his own. ‘Might you pass me the bat-wing?’ He said with an un-amused tone to the girl next to him, she looked up at him with sleepy eyes ‘What?’ He sighed angrily. ‘I’ll get it myself.’ He stood and walked around her to the ingredients table, there he found some spare bat-wing hanging about, the ingredient wasn’t in the instructions, but he was well used through reading to what it was for. He brought it back to his table and started heating up his cauldron a little more carefully until it was just simmering; he then dissected the lumpy concoction, taking out any large chunks before pouring it in one drop at a time. ‘Hay there posh boy what’s...’ ‘Shhh.’ Cael interrupted with a face full of concentration. Finn scowled and instead watched what his friend was doing ‘Hay that’s not in the instruct...’ ‘Shhh.’ The red-headed boy rolled his eyes ‘Fine.’ He sat down on a nearby stool and crossed his arms, staying quiet until Ludovic looked up ‘It prolongs its effect and eliminates any impurities... I believe.’ He said, flicking through his book to the back pages where he had scribbled notes the night before they turned up at the castle. ‘Anyway, what do you want?’ Finn raised an eyebrow ‘Charming, I merely came over here to bow to your expertise... mines kinda yellowy... should it be yellowy?’ Cael shook his head, holding the bridge of his nose in sheer dismay ‘you have to put the wormwood in before the arrowroot or it will turn yellow and sour.’ Finn had that gormless expression on his face that often graced him ‘So...’ ‘The brown one before the thin green one.’ ‘Ah yeah... that’s where I went wrong... so...’ ‘Put another green one in then stir it about seven-ish times... I think, if that doesn’t work, you’ve completely cocked it up.’ Finn laughed ‘Alrighty then I won’t bother you again maybe... see you!’
Agni sighed at the forgiving nature of the Professor, she was afraid that she might eat her or something. When she announced yet another potion, she was adamant to make it well. The heat of the room was bad, but for an elf, it was much worse. ‘Oh goodness...’ she muttered to herself, stepping away from the fire for a moment “I bet this is what the cooks feel like.” Agni nodded, her hands on her knees and her glasses steaming up. She only wore her glasses when she really had to concentrate incase she got a headache. Agni was meticulously measuring arrowroot on her scales when Jacob sighed “Why can’t they just make these potions have rounded numbers, I can’t make 78 on this scale... can you try mine, your scale seems to work better.” she nodded, happily taking it off of him and slicing off shavings of the root until it was almost perfect. ‘There’ she said with achievement “You’re very precise.” she nodded ‘I don’t want to get it wrong again; it’s such a shame to waste roots like these.’ She trailed off, watching his mixture, smiling at his French Oui, bon, la couleur est parfaite!’ she said naturally, speaking English was second nature but her French accent was still thick and she loved to speak her native language whenever possible. With the mention of her potion, she looked over to her cauldron in amazement ‘I... what?’ Her liquid changed rapidly to a dangerous looking colour, but she was too confused to remember to move out of the way, thankfully, Jacob grabbed her just in time. Miss Laurendale walked over again, that disappointed look in her eyes “It’s either your cauldron is faulty here or you need to learn how to pay attention Miss Belle.” Agni looked up to her, ‘But... I... I did everything right...’ as she addressed the rest of the class, Agni took a closer look at her potion, it looked pretty toxic but she was so sure she followed the instructions. Suddenly she spotted the fire, it was far too hot, and it certainly wasn’t her that raised the temperature. She glanced at Jacob; she hadn’t seen anyone else near her potion. Angrily, she left the room for the great hall, and to no surprise wasn’t invited to sit with Jacob and his friends, instead she sat alone again, eating a lunch of fruit salad. She glanced up at him every so often; he looked like he was really enjoying himself with his friends. She wondered what they were talking about, perhaps how he ruined some stupid elf girl’s potion last lesson. She left the hall to collect some of her potion books to read over. Looking out of the window of her dorm room that had yet to be used, she saw how nice a day it was, it was like summer still. Feeling the need to study somewhere apart from the crowded common room and seeming as it was so nice outside, she headed towards a nice tree she had spotted earlier out by the lake.
Once outside, Agni felt it time to relax a little, as soon as she sat down on the grass, tiny delicate daisy’s and forget-me-nots sprung up from the grass. She sighed, opening the first of her theory books; with her glasses on the end of her nose, she began to read. She was in that state of silent studying for almost three minutes when the girl from the morning snuck up on her, kicking her book from her hands and into her face. Agni yelped with the shock of it which only encouraged a malicious laugh from the girl ‘I didn’t know elves could read.’ She spat at Agni’s feet. The half-blood’s face was directed at the floor; with the smallest voice she whispered ‘I’m sorry. Will you go away please...?’ The girl ignored her, only kicking her book away again when she tried to pick it back up, suddenly from across the grass she heard a familiar voice. “Excuse me!” Agni really wasn’t having the best of days. “But do you think it’s funny to kick my books over?” great, so first he ruins my potion, and then he steals my books, Agni thought. She didn’t catch what he said next, all she knew was that the girl walked off in a huff. “What was that? Did she just come over and do ...that? I mean, kick your books over? How pathetic.” Agni moved slightly to the left as he sat down, crushing some of her daisy’s. He said some other things which she assumed were insults before inviting her back to the common room, at this point she was already crying ‘I didn’t go to the common room in the first place to get away from people like you but I guess they’ll just keep following me.’ She stood up, trembling and now tears running down her face ‘Why are you pretending to be my friend? It’s just... It’s just mean!’ with his obvious lies and gabbles of not knowing what she was talking about, she turned away from him, shaking with tears. ‘You... you changed the heat of my... fire in potions... you... you did it on p...purpose...’ She turned around and started to run in the opposite direction, but due to tears, she couldn’t see where she was going and was knocked to the floor. She looked up, seeing the cold hard face of a young man looking down at her.

Finn and Cael went to lunch together, sitting at the head of their house table, Finn’s arm around the blonde second year from earlier in the common room. ‘So then I said to him a...’ ‘Was the Moran girl in astrology this morning?’ Finn turned to his rather rude friend, his mouth full of half-masticated cow ‘Excuse me! I was telling uh...’ he turned to look at the girl ‘Lou-Lou’ He smiled ‘that’s right, telling Lou-Lou here the story of how we battled that komodo dragon whilst on our trip to Asia...’ Cael laughed ‘You mean of how I battled that komodo dragon whilst you hid behind me yeah? Listen toots, will you wait just one moment?’ he said patronizingly Finn huffed in annoyance ‘All I know is she’s a bit of a bully, she totally ruined my crane this morning in astrology and I saw her tangle this girl’s hair for no reason... Bad egg she is...’ Cael grinned ‘Speaking of bad eggs...’ he pointed behind his friend, Finn then turned around to see a brunette half-blood ‘Who’s this?’ she demanded ‘Uh, Phoebe! Meet Lou-Lou, Lou-Lou meet...’ he didn’t get chance to finish his sentence as Phoebe slapped him across the face and stormed off. Finn laughed; rubbing his jaw ‘Well, I kinda deserved that, anyways as I was saying princess...’ a second thwack across the face caused the lads at the table to jeer at his misfortune. By the time he got over it, Cael was laughing hard. ‘Oh... Oh man... second day! Pffft!’ he trailed off into uncontrollable laughter. ‘Alright laugh it up. At least I’ve seen some action Duckweed!’
Finn promised the twins that he’d tell them a story later that afternoon, so Cael was free to practice his spells. All of the training rooms were empty, but he wasn’t about to go there in a hurry, his born talent for Skin-walking was controversial, many of the dark wizards were skin-walkers and he didn’t want it let out that he was one. People thought he was an Anamorphic wizard, which was good enough for him. He made his way towards the forest, that way if anyone caught him changed, they would mistake him for an animal that was native to the woods. Half-way there however, he was literally run in to by a girl. ‘Good Lord! Will you watch where you are going you stupid...? Oh God, I’m sorry, don’t cry, here... there now... is this man bothering you?’ one thing Cael couldn’t stand was bullying, he was greatly teased by his brother and sister when he was little and now he abhorred it. Staring down the other guy, he brushed himself down whilst the girl babbled on to him. ‘He what? Oh... you’re the terrible woman that spoilt both her potions this morning... you can’t just go around blaming people for your silly mistakes.’ His tone was quite sharp but nevertheless, he meant it in a good way. Good just wasn’t in his nature. Cael thought back to the lesson in the morning, and then it hit him. ‘Oh you absolute fool!’ he exclaimed angrily at her, scaring her a little; the other bloke didn’t seem to like that ‘Of course it wasn’t him you damned idiot! It was... well... I did it. It was me.’ It wasn’t him, but seeming as he had no idea of the culprit’s name he thought it plausible to name himself as the arsonist, his tone was unfortunately unconvincing ‘Oh fine it wasn’t me... get your hands off of me!’ he bellowed, brushing himself down for the second time ‘it was the... the Moran girl... that one from... Oh I don’t know, but it certainly wasn’t him! However I would think you wise to stay away from this hot-blooded pessimist, after you have apologized of course. Good-day.’ He walked off without a second glance back at the couple.
Agni was left stunned by how both of the young men had acted, and then a little ashamed at her own actions. After a moment of awkward silence, she turned to Jacob ‘I’m sorry.’ She said, sniffling again ‘It’s just, nobody’s ever been nice to me before and they’d do things like this all the time and... And... I’m sorry...’ she broke down crying again.

Cael was battering the hell out of the trees for a while, casting odd and sometimes unpronounceable spells around in the dark. He wasn’t afraid of the dark, mostly because he could transform his eyes to be able to see perfectly even in pitch black. He was angrily hacking his at a fern after it somehow rebounded his spell back at him, narrowly missing when he heard some twigs snap behind him. He turned instinctively, wand raised. To the young man’s surprise it was another student, and not just any student, but the Moran girl that had crossed his path a few times before. “Practicing for dueling?” she questioned, leading him to quickly recognize her Irish accent. He said nothing, not lowering his wand from a defensive height either. She looked him up and down like she knew what he was doing, Cael panted heavily due to the quick stop in his labored practice “You’ll need to practice if you’re against me...” he just stared her down again as she turned and left. Thinking back at it, he wished he had asked her name, but in that small moment, her presence had left him speechless.

It was late and Finn was knocking at his best mate’s door loudly. Soon the other guy opened the door, looking like a pissed off math teacher ‘What.’ He said bluntly. Finn grinned ‘you got any... hay man, where you going?’ he looked him up and down, noticing his lack of clothes. ‘To bed. Do I have to be wearing puff the magic dragon pj’s to sleep?’ ‘That was one time man. And seriously, where you going, you don’t sleep looking that pristine, your hair’s not even out of place.’ ‘Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.’ He replied ‘Anyway, where are your clothes?’ Finn grinned again, his signature look of mischief in his eyes. ‘You got any rubbers on you?’ Cael looked to his friend in sheer disgust ‘You are a sick man. Tell that poor young girl to go back to her dorm, she’s only going to be disappointed... better yet, send her here, I bet you only got her by namedropping me again.’ Finn rolled his eyes ‘whatever man, I’ll ask Connor... have fun on your late night trip.’ Cael shut the door in his face, truth was, he was going out. He had intimidated some girl into telling him where the Moran girl’s dorm was earlier and he was going to make a little late night visit. Transforming slowly into the figure of a small black cat, he jumped out of the window onto the ledge, walking around until he found an open corridor window.
Cael reached her dorm room quickly, padding down the aisle between sleeping teens he soon found her right by the door. He watched her for a moment before turning back around, what was he doing? He couldn’t just go in people’s dorms. He then thought back to what she had done to the girl from earlier. He hated bullies. Noticing her light, he casually jumped back on the window ledge, creeping around to her window, he stood by it of a moment, before jumping out just as the candle light flickered, leaving her staring back at a black cat where there wasn’t one before. Secure in the knowledge that he’d shaken her up a bit, he jumped back in the dorm, not feeling satisfied with leaving her scared. He walked up to her, mewing gently. Cael sat on the floor looking at her for a moment, before nodding at her and leaving back for his dorm.

Finn woke in the morning once again to Cael rapping on his door. ‘I see that you found one then?’ he commented, seeing the girl’s foot hanging out of his friend’s bed. ‘What time is it?’ ‘Same as usual.’ Finn groaned, trying to shut the door again, Cael however lodged his foot between it. ‘You’re coming with me. Knest tryouts.’

Agni woke up early enough for nobody to bother her in the common room again; she still couldn’t face the shared dorms. She made her way down to breakfast and ate modestly, then she heading towards the Knest court changing rooms. To her surprise, there was only one changing room. ‘Excuse me...’ she questioned a young man turning into the room. He grunted in recognition of her presence ‘Um, where are the girl’s changing rooms?’ he looked her up and down ‘Now don’t tell me little miss that you’re about to try out for the big bad Knest team are ya?’ she furrowed her brow in annoyance ‘No, actually I am the ref. So if you would kindly tell me where...’ ‘The ref? Ha! Little thing like you? Well imma just eat you up! Awh princess, I’m only kiddin, there’s only one changing room, you’re going to have to slug it out with us.’ She looked a little nervous, but keept her composure, that was until she walked in.
In the room were a load of guys, maybe one or two butch looking girls, a small group of pretty pureblood girls for the Lab-ten trials perhaps, but it was all very intimidating for a girl of her size. It was then she spotted Jacob, walking slowly over to him, trying desperately not to bump into any half-naked man, she wished she hadn’t signed up for it. ‘Hay there...’ she said awkwardly. ‘Yeah I’m... well, you’ll see... can I use this hook?’ She turned away from him, hoping to the heavens that he wouldn’t ask questions. She un-buttoned her shirt, hanging it up on the peg. Her skin was very pale as was common with most elves, but hers kind of shone in the light, like it was luminous. The one thing that really stood out though, were the large slashes through her skin. There were a few of them, the most noticeable however, were the ones that crossed her entire back. They were deep and still looked sore, with tiny marks lining them where the stitches would have been. She quickly dressed again into her plain black tee shirt and riding trousers. She laced up her leather boots and sat back down on the bench, waiting for Jacob.

Post  Rosé on Mon Aug 08, 2011 5:39 am

A gust of wind fluttered the candle by Felicity’s side, dimming it quickly, dangerously close to putting the flame out, she quickly turned to the small flame and cupped it, as the wind died away the flame flicked up again, she turned back to where she was looking but a black cat instead gave her a considerable fright. She didn’t make a sound but her eyes were wide, the fright was short lived as the small cat jumped to the floor beside her, with its gentle meow she leant down to it, no touching it but examining the cat closely; Felicity liked cats. With a small not it seemed that the cat had finished with her, she didn’t see anything peculiar about the late night visit. Settling to sleep she looked over to her candle, it was starting to melt around the edges but she didn’t blow it out, it was the only way for her to get to sleep soundly. Turning in her covers to face the small light she closed her eyes and on the inside of her eyelids the flickering light still danced around, she was sure that the light would be out by the time she had to get up and try out for the endurance team. Not having closed her curtains the sun woke her up earlier than normal. The Dorm was still quiet, only one other bed was empty so Felicity walked through the dorm to the bathroom and showered and dressed, ready for her trial. Her hair was tired back in a high ponytail and her eyes darkened slightly from the lack of sleep.

Jacob sat in the great hall eating breakfast with his friends again, they were discussing tryouts. “I don’t understand why we have to try out again this year, we were all on the winning team last year, and surely that’s enough.” One of his pureblood friends moaned over several pieces of toast, Jacob put his spoon down, “It’s to let all the first years have a go.” He laughed. “But it’s not like that many will get onto the team anyway, have you seen this year’s lot? The majority of them look about twelve!” The whole section of the table roared with laughter, until a few fourth years turned around. “And what makes you think you’ll get on any team Elladora? You only got on last year because your sister was a final year. Face it, she got you in everywhere.” The higher years began to laugh but Jacob looked at the older group, completely expressionless, he stayed like that until the group turned away from him slowly “Freak.” A friend of his hit him on the back. “Hah, Jacob you creepy bugger, let’s get down to the changing rooms before we aren’t even allowed to try out!” Jacob came back to his senses and turned to the group who looked a little bewildered at his behaviour. “Uh, yeah let’s go.”

Jacob hung his bag onto a hook and began to change, his Knest uniform just fit him still, he’d change it if he got onto the team again; which in his opinion was more of a ‘when’ opposed to an ‘if’. He had his trousers and boots fastened as Felicity came over. “Oh, hi.” He turned away only to double take. “Wait your... you’re, huh?” He hadn’t taken her as the sporting type but shrugged, each to their own, and all of that. “Yeah, that hook’s free, go for it.” He took his shirt off and put on the knest shirt, striped in red and silver. Folding his uniform shirt Jacob turned to see the aggressive looking slashes on her back; some looked fit to bleed again. His eyes widened and a hand stretched out to her shoulder, as if to ask what they were, but something held Jacob back. He turned back, buttoning the sides of his trousers to his boots; he hoped that Agni would tell him what had happened in her own time, but for now he would mull it over. He stood over Agni, holding out a hand to help her up from the bench. “Ready?” They walked out onto the field with the rest of the hopefuls.

In the changing room Felicity couldn’t see any other girls trying out for the endurance team, but this didn’t bother her at all, the boys couldn’t and wouldn’t intimidate her. However Felicity caught eye of the little elf girl looking at her as she walked in to a nearest empty space, so Felicity looked straight back intensely; only to be interrupted. “What are you trying out for then little miss?” A rather large fifth year asked her as she got dressed. “Endurance. Why?” “Whoa, why so frosty? Besides, seeing as you are Somery too I was going to say good luck. We ain’t got much of an endurance team at the moment.” “I don’t need luck, but thanks...” She gave flashed a slightly irritated smile before changing into her endurance wears. She could tell just from the get up that it was going to be completely different to prep school; there she could just wear her school uniform but here she had been a very specific outfit to wear, which she would get to keep if she made the team. The trousers were tight and made out of some hardwearing material, a little scratchy, the shirt equally tight and held the Somery crest on the left and on the back a stripe down the side of the trousers displayed the Somery colours, Red and Silver. Wand in hand she certainly looked the part, but then again so did everyone else, from those trying out for sports to the chess tryouts, they all seemed to be in the same room, talking to each other, wishing each other luck and giving each other tips on how to do certain things. But as Felicity made her way to the door that led out onto the main knest field, she looked back, wondering who she would be up against.

On the field the large group was split into two groups, Knest- sports and Knest-endurance. The duelling team trails for each house would be conducted at a later date. Jacob stood in the Sports group in his house group. Felicity in Somery for Endurance, she looked around to see who she was against for the team, the majority of the team was made up of higher years, there were only three first years, this included her and Cael, she looked at him, not taking him for the nitty-gritty sort of guy. Shrugging her shoulders she listened to the deputy head speak up. “Sport tryouts; follow Professor Grippe, whilst Endurance tryouts follow Professor Laurandale and Professor Sazeric.” The two groups split off, the sports team staying on the pitch whereas the Endurance was led off towards the forest.

“Right you lot!” Shouted Professor Grippe. “The tryout game is Escorial, if you don’t know what it is or what the rules are you can leave now, I will not be explaining them to you. But keep the games clean !” Several games were going to be going on at the same time, each house was split into two teams, and teams would play each other and then the three remaining house teams would fight it out, just like a real tournament. Jacob looked around to see his teammates and grinned, he had a few of his friends but the rest looked pathetic, the other teams looked the same, he had a good feeling about getting on the team this year. Jacob was in position, he looked to the sidelines and finally realised what Agni was doing there, she was a referee, he smiled and as the whistle sounded ran towards the other team, it was in Knest that he could really let off some steam.

Professor Sazeric called out over the hum of voices. “This isn’t a sport and it isn’t a game. Do you understand first years? Endurance is exactly what it claims to be, a direct test of all of your skills over a long period of time, Endurance tournaments usually last up to three days without stopping but today we will only be giving you a taste with three hours.” Professor Laurendale stood forward, “Yes, so keep your wits about you, we will be monitoring the whole task today but if you get into any trouble cast a flare and you will be sent back here safely; it won’t affect your chances of getting onto each of your houses teams.” Of course Lucinda lied, it made all the difference if you wimped out or not, students could go missing for weeks after an Endurance tournament, they had to learn these survival skills, it was rare but they all had to be prepared for it. That was why she co managed the team, because she believed that it was a worthy team that had actual use, opposed to the Knest sports that only gave the members shiny trophies and a few moments of glory.

Re: The Final Circle

Cael had been practicing since the early hours in the morning, stretching, flicking through books of magical creatures, plants and spells to deflect them. When he finally arrived at Finn’s door, he was fully dressed in his new Knest uniform. He had bought it because he was fairly confident that he would make the endurance team. He had already made the sports team, which made Finn increasingly angry; one of the professors had offered him a place on the team after seeing one of his more triumphant games in the national Escorial team, however, he turned it down, spots was all well and good, but if he really wanted to progress, he would be on the endurance teams. Both Eleanor and Vladimir were on the endurance teams every year since year three, being on the team from the start would give him an advantage they wouldn’t be able to prosecute him for.
Cael’s Knest kit consisted of a black sleeveless top with the Somery crest embroidered on it. On the back was his second name in red, a pair of black shorts and his trusty leather Escorial boots. Also for an extra measure, a leather strap around his leg holding a silver knife and a leather wrist guard. Finn took one look at his mate and scowled ‘How come you always look so bloody confidant in the morning?’ he muttered, walking down the corridor towards the main hall. ‘Because I am perhaps? You have a stain on your shirt.’ He muttered, pointing to a dark patch on Finns tight-fit black tee. Finn was trying out for the sports side of it, he was a mean athlete, although to look at him you’d probably more associate him with weight lifting, he was built like a tank with arms the size of the average person’s neck. They swaggered into the main hall, ate an extortionate amount of food and headed out to the fields.
They were split up almost immediately, Finn heading off to lead the new Somery team, and Cael towards the forest. He had spotted the Moran girl in the crowd already, she looked like she was taking it seriously, not like the blonde haired girls chatting away to each other and totally ignoring the rules. Three hours sounded simple enough, it was finding the relic that would be difficult. The forest was huge, he had tried to scout around the perimeter in human form and had considerably failed, and at the mention of a locket, his brow furrowed in concentration even more. Lockets were small, easily hidden and easily guarded; he’d have to stay on his toes. When the crack of the starting pistol sounded, he transformed to his assumed anamorphic figure, a large black panther. Running into he dark forest wasn’t so difficult if you could run twice the speed of a human, climb trees with no effort and see in the dark, still it would have been a little unnerving for the toughest of wizards. Cael however, had only one thing on his mind, winning, and doing so as quickly as possible.
In the third half of his second game, Finn’s score was beginning to pick up. His team were quite frankly terrible, but by the time he realized that, they were already loosing. He figured the only way to pull it back into their favour, was being the one man team he was so used to being. He ploughed the pitch, using mostly brute force but also sheer skill to take hold of the game. The other team didn’t seem to like that, and when he had just made their winning point, one lad especially decided to play dirty. Members of Finn’s team were being tripped over and injured, at one point, he could have sword he saw a wand. The ref must have seen it too, because she called another break while some kid was taken to the hospital wing. ‘Hay, hay misses...’ he called over to the little half-blood that was reffing. She looked far too fragile to be watching over such a violent sport, but she was doing a pretty good job. ‘Hay miss, excuse me but, I believe I saw that young man pull a wand out on a kid earlier.’ ‘You a second year?’ he laughed charmingly ‘No ma’am, I’m a first year, joined up a year late.’ She looked him up and down. He was much taller than her, and looked as if she would snap if he breathed in her direction, but she was clearly half-elf, and he had only heard good things about elven women. Girl or not, Finn had always been taught to respect the referee, it had done him a world of good in the past. ‘Finley right?’ He focussed back into her again ‘Yeah right... how did you...’ ‘Our dads know each other... we used to play together as kids...’ he studied her face for a while, he wasn’t sure if he did remember. ‘Anyway, I’ll look into that...’ she paused, looking at him ‘You’re a good player, haven’t seen a better one in a while.’ He grinned, walking back to the sorry state of a team he had left.
Agni recognised Finley as soon as he spoke, he sounded the same (if not a little deeper) as he did when he was younger. He had a poor memory for faces then too. Glancing over at Jacob, who had definitely been cheating since they’d been losing, she nodded at Finley’s accusations. ‘Jacob, may I have a word?’ she called, motioning him to come over with her finger. ‘Look, I saw your wand alright, now I know I’m not the scariest of people, but at the end of the day, I can’t abide bullies or cheats.’ She looked up into his face for a fleeting second before feeling her face go slightly pinker. ‘Look Jacob,’ she put a hand on his warm arm ‘you’re a great player, but you need to admit that... well Finley might just be a little ... better than you...’ she smiled lop-sidedly, wondering if she had put it the right way. ‘Just play a clean game. Alright boys! Off you go!’
Cael had been in the forest for about an hour and a half. He’d gotten past a heard of territorial centaurs quite quietly without much effort, but had got in a pretty bad scrape with a giant tarantula. Now walking around in his human form, a rather nasty slash across his cheek and a cut in his shirt, he had his wand instinctively out ready. He tripped over something, pushing himself back up again, he turned to see one of the blonde girls, definitely unconscious, and bleeding by the looks of it. He groaned his moral conscious overtaking slightly. ‘Well I can’t just leave her here!’ he exclaimed to his conflicting personalities ‘I could send up a flare...’ he looked around for her wand, it was snapped ‘Damn!’ If he sent up a flare with his wand, they would think it him and exclude him from play. He growled in anger, picking the girl up off the floor and slinging her over his shoulders.
The Escorial games finally ended. Agni had her fair share of agro from the older players who decided that cheating was better than losing to a first-year, namely Finley James-McDognhue. She got changed quickly whilst the players were given a de-briefing, as she was walking out again onto the pitch to give her results and resign, she was stopped. ‘Hay! Miss!’ she turned around, smiling at the red-headed Scott. ‘You remembered me then?’ she grinned, he laughed, crossing the rest of the distance in a few quick strides to get right up close to her ‘No, but I’d like to.’ she stepped a little back from him ‘Hay hay princess, it’s cool. That was some nice reffing out there by the way.’ he grinned ‘yeah... thanks.’ He blatantly looked her up and down, biting his lip a little ‘You know, you should come hang out in my room some time Princess, see if we could do something about you being so... tense...’ He stood directly opposite her now, pressing a little closer to her. ‘Give me a call sometime...’ he started walking backwards towards the changing rooms when his mated came along. He watched her for a little while, shaking his head and grinning ‘Damn.’
She hadn’t seen Finley since she was little, but they had been good friends then, still that kind of physical contact with anyone made her jumpy. He was totally different to the shy kid she remembered. Perhaps hanging out with the Whitehall guy changed that, she didn’t know.

With an unconscious first year on his back, making his way through the forest was getting a lot more difficult. Just when he thought he might dump the girl, he approached a small lake. In the centre of the blackness, something was shining. He rolled his eyes ‘Just great.’ Gently putting the girl down, placing a protection bubble around her in case any beasties tried to grab her. He then pulled of this shirt, knowing too well he’d have to put something dry back on after he got out of the freezing water. Cael dived into the black water, instantly feeling the bone-chilling cold. He felt as if he might curl up and die right there, but pushed on. With holding his breath alone, he managed to almost touch the chain of the Somery locket. He rose up again to catch his breath, diving deeper this time. Finally, he grabbed it. Rising above the surface, he was momentarily triumphant, that was, until he saw the creature sniffing around his protection bubble charm. He froze, moving out of the water ever so slowly as not to catch its attention. Unfortunately, his foot snagged on a twig and the... thing turned. It was a humanoid of some sort, its top half most certainly a woman... well; it looked as if it were starved, its ribcage jutting out with large slits along each rib. Its fingers were gnarled and its mouth filled with rows of pointed teeth. Its lower half was something different, it was some sort of rotting flesh, it stank no end and even some bones were visible. It was a tail. The creature slowly dragged its lower half along the floor towards him, shrieking and hissing, its fingers digging into the earth like talons. Ludovic reached down to the strap on his leg that his wand was in, but it wasn’t there, turning his head to the water he panicked, it must have slipped out in the water. Making a rash, split second decision, he dived into the water again, his eyes taking a moment to adjust to the water, that moment however was to slow, as his ankle was grabbed by the creature, he turned to it, having just enough time to reach for his knife and cut open its wrist, leaving it to let go for a moment so he could search for his wand. He reached the bottom of the lake, just, his lungs screaming out for air. Suddenly he spotted it, lying in the silt. He took one last stroke towards it but was intercepted by the creature again; she tore his skin with her claws and he tried to scream out, only taking in a mouthful of heavy black water. He stabbed the creature with one last effort, sinking to the bottom and grabbing his wand. The next thing he knew, he was back on the land again, the creature rapidly following him. The spell he had cast to take him back to the girl had worked; he laced the locket around his neck, pulled on his shirt in a flurry of adrenaline and picked the girl up again. The creature was considerably slower on land, but now so was he, his energy had been zapped by her last poison laced attack and all he could do was stagger back through the trees.
With what seemed like an age, Cael finally saw light. Staggering through the trees out into the daylight, he collapsed on the floor in front of Professor Laurendale herself. He could almost feel her scrutinizing glare ‘Freshwater... mermaid...’ he gasped, rolling over to show his stained shirt. The other Professor ran over, taking the shirt off of him and sucking air through his teeth when seeing the gashes. ‘It looks like you’ve taken a nasty beating there lad... in the water with it were we?’ his words almost interrupted by loudest scream of horror ‘Melanie! Oh God! What did you do to her!?’ Cael’s head rolled to the side, still in agonizing pain he saw the other blonde girl, and it was obvious now that they were sisters. ‘Found her... attacked... her wand was... was broken...’ ‘Good lord Mr. Whitehall! Do you mean to say you carried this girl with you? To the lakes and back with these terrible injuries?!’ the Professor was sincerely aghast. ‘Couldn’t just... leave her...’ he let out a shrill cry of pain as his torso felt like it was burning. In a moment however, it was gone. He sat up, looking down at himself, he was healed. He looked up towards his potions teacher, her wand outstretched. ‘Thank you...’ he breathed, handing over his locket to her.
Agni sat on her own again in the great hall at dinnertime, however the fairy girls felt it their duty as woodland beings to try and encourage her to talk with them. Agni was too shy for them, and they eventually moved away again. The headmaster stood and a hush fell. ‘Students, I have a few announcements to make. Firstly, congratulations to everyone who participated in today’s Knest trials. This brings me on to the second piece of news. Today’s successful athletes will be announced, at the welcome ball on the eve of Friday next week.’ A hive of exited chatter arose ‘to those older years, who have attended this ball before, you will know what an exiting opportunity it is to mix with lower years, and make new friends. To the younger years, we advise you to behave accordingly, and dress well. Good luck.’
Finn turned to Cael, who was sucking some rancid looking brown liquid through a straw. ‘You mean, you didn’t just leave her there? Man what has gotten into you?!’ Ludovic nodded ‘I know... this stuff is rancid.’ Finn looked at it with turned up nose ‘What is it?’ ‘Some sort of potion to stop the any remaining toxins seeping into my blood...’ Finn looked horrified ‘Ah... Soooooo... who are you asking to the ball then?’ Cael laughed a little ‘Well Kitten I was thinking of asking you.’

Agni made her way yet again to the common room, her plant in hand. The common room had acquired several more pot plants since her arrival. Most of the girls were too busy fretting about the ball to pick on her, which suited her fine. She didn’t plan on going to the ball anyway. ‘What about Elladora?’ her ears turned to listen into the conversation ‘Who?’ ‘You know, that fit one, with the dark hair... the one sat next to weed girl in potions?’ ‘Oh no seriously? He gives me the creeps!’ ‘Who cares? He’s fit isn’t he?’ ‘True...’ ‘Well fitter than that Cheals guy, you know with the eyebrows...?’ she stopped listening, girls talking about boys wasn’t really that interesting, but Agni hadn’t really realized how potentially attractive Jacob was, in fact, she hadn’t really looked at him at all. The people slowly filtered out until she was left alone again. Putting on an alarm on her watch, she sat in front of the fire for a while.

”COME ON YOU LAZY BASTARDS!” Jacob practically screamed at his teammates, they were mostly snivelling first years and the occasional arrogant fourth year that preferred to hover about at the back of the field looking cool and occasionally winking at a girl on the sidelines, they had won their first match by pure luck alone, their other house team was worse than them again. Now against Somery house Jacob was determined to win; he had to get a place on the Knest team again or face constant ridicule from his peers, not to mention those third years who had been laying into him this morning. Jacob had managed to get a couple of his friends to trip other players up as they ran past, one even breaking a shoulder. Jacob wasn’t the best at charms, but he was sure if he could get close enough to one of the other team’s better defenders he could charm him into going a little haywire for a moment; no coordination or something like that, that’d give Jacob enough time to score the final few points they needed to get through to the final matches but he was quickly cut up by a redhead on the opposite team, he was a good flyer and it seemed an even better Knest player. Jacob’s blood was set to boil; his charm went off the wrong way and only had minimal effect on the defender. Jacob was too caught up in the game to listen to Agni he was close to shouting abuse back at her, but he quickly remembered that it wouldn’t go down to well with her, she wouldn’t understand how pumped he got in sports; it wasn’t in his nature to get this competitive. Running over to Agni, he looked her in the eyes directly, he was breathing heavily. “Better? You have to be joking; I’m pulling a deadweight team on my shoulders.” He didn’t even acknowledge her accusations of cheating, that was what had gotten him through tournaments last year and they won the cup, he wasn’t going to let Agni ruin his chances of getting into the team, even if she was a friend. It was a close call but his team still lost, Jacob walked off of the pitch swearing loudly, a couple of his friend doing the same, he didn’t stay for most of the debriefing; he was connived he hadn’t made the Escorial team.

Jacob walked back to the changing room slowly, he had noticed the red head speaking to Agni and scowled, he had heard about him before, he was a womaniser good enough to rival his date score in his first year. Jacob immediately felt protective, he had no reason to, but he couldn’t stand the thought of someone sliming over her. He walked past the pair, not even looking sideways, he needed a shower before dinner, and Jacob had to get out of his sportsman frame of mind. He undressed quickly and let the water of the showers calm him down, he wasn’t particularly annoyed anymore about the Escorial match, and he now just wanted to eat. Jacob was easy to anger but was easily calmed down again, depending on the situation.

Felicity ran into the woods at a good speed, a few people stopped to gasp at Cael turn into a panther-type creature and disappear, but she had to get a locket; her heart was set on the Endurance team. The centaurs were no problem to avoid; in fact she got past them in minutes. The spiders however proved a little more difficult, she was being surrounded quickly. A quick curse knocked several over, giving her time to escape their grasps unharmed. “Yes!” She shouted aloud, punching the air. Her eyes darted about the place as she ran, not slowing for a second; but lockets were difficult to see in the dim forest, it was early afternoon and the light was already leaving the forest. “Come on come on.” She was getting annoyed, an hour in she hadn’t seen anything, after the spiders there was nothing, no other participants, no creatures, nothing. So Felicity stopped and looked around, the trees were getting thicker and further apart, she hadn’t gotten this far into the forest before and was exercising some caution, but from directly above her she heard a blood curling cry, it was a winged creature she wasn’t familiar with; she knew she should have done some research to the native creatures here, but regardless, caught on its claw like foot was one of the lockets that she needed and Felicity could be sure this was her only opportunity to get one. Without thinking she shot a charm at the creature, causing it to swoop down at her, deafening felicity with its cry. It knocked her straight off of her feet. Winded Felicity scrambled to her feet, quickly deflecting its attacks. Adrenaline kicked in and Felicity shouted “Come one!” Shooting several charms at the being, taunting it, keeping it around; encouraging it to attack her and then deflecting all attacks. Felicity laughed, seeing the creature was tired, she was ready to take the locket but she tripped on a tree root, the creature came down close and with one swift movement sliced through the side of her trouser leg and up the side of her shirt. It’s talons left very deep gashes, three marks beside each other, from the middle of her thigh to her waist.

Even Felicity couldn’t cover the expression of pain as se cried out loudly, shouting madly at the creature, now giving it now mercy, she wasn’t going to stun it or petrify it. Felicity screamed a curse and killed the creature in one blow. Felicity crawled lopsidedly on her hands and knees over to the dead creature and ripped the locket from it viciously, breaking the chain. She had no idea how deep into the forest she wanted to teleport out but knew it was against the rules. She was closer than she thought but was still bleeding out. Proffessor Laurendale saw her coming through the trees and shouted. “And what on this earth happened to you!?!” Looking at her blood soaked side and bloodied lips. Even in pain Felicity laughed. “I don’t even know what it was!” But she held the locket up triumphantly; confident she would get on the team. Professor Laurendale rolled her eyes violently and healed Felicity’s wound, she hadn’t lost so much blood that she had to go to the hospital ward but it was still a considerable injury. Lucinda looked to Felicity and Cael, “You two are the only two with serious injuries...” She didn’t say anymore but couldn’t help but wonder if it was due to recklessness or punching above their weight, she could be sure that Cael had done the right thing but she couldn’t tell with Felicity. After a debriefing the students went back to the changing room, a group of girls and even a few boys crowded Cael there, gawping over his heroism, but Felicity repelled a couple second years, not interested to hear chat up lines. She did however accept the fourth year’s invite to eat dinner with them.

Back in the Somery common room Felicity watched boys nervously ask girls to the dance and girls nervously accept. She sat by the fire and sighed, Felicity somehow knew she wasn’t going to be asked, but she didn’t mind; she wasn’t planning on going anyway. Jacob however had waited for a while before going into the common room; he had been avoiding Agni in case he had upset her earlier. But it was late now and he hadn’t seen her leave so he took a breath in and walked in, sure enough she was sat where she had been sat the day he saw her the first time. “Hi.” He said quietly, his usual composure regained. Jacob sat down beside her, his fringe that was usually pushed back fell by his face. “Look, I didn’t mean to be so rude before, I just got a little too pumped up, first match of the season and all... I’m sorry, it won’t happen again...” There was a long pause. “Say, I didn’t know if you were...” Jacob quickly became a little nervous. “Uh, actually don’t worry about it, I’ll tell you in Herbology tomorrow...” Jacob stood up to leave. “Good night, it’s getting late.” He quickly left the common room to his personal room, cursing himself for not having the courage to ask her now. He would have to do it in the afternoon tomorrow.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Tue Aug 09, 2011 9:42 am

Finley had already thought of asking a million girls to the ball by the time it had gotten dark, Cael however was little less than unimpressed by the commotion the ball was causing in the commonroom. 'Finley will you just shut up? I don't care. I'm not feeling too well.' 'Sorry Lord Fontelroy... actually, you do look a little pale...' Finn frowned, that cut he had taken to his chest obviously didn't do him any good. Cael cast a glance to the side of him, only to send a group of girls into a fit of giggles, he sighed, turning back to Finn who looked unusually anxious 'What're you fretting about?' there was a pause 'Well... I was thinking about asking that Agni girl, the elf' 'Ugh' 'Shut up, she's hot. She looks well up for it too.' Cael rolled his eyes 'Whatever. I'll be right back.' He had been watching the Moran girl for a while now, and it looked like she was about to leave. Standing up with a little bit of a wobble, he began to walk over to her, his hand clutching his side for support. Approaching her, his icy disposition returned. He was finally facing her, he held out his hand. 'Ludovic Von Whitehall. Impressive game you gave in endurance today. Thought you might want to know, It was a harpy.' he thought he might have to explain himself 'Those injuries you sustained were sufficient with the attack form of an agitated Harpy. I suggest you read up on magical creatures if you are to be on the endurance team. Harpies should never be attacked, but they respond pretty well to an imobilization charm I believe.' he was very cold and matter of fact. 'I assume you are going to the ball.' he commented. 'Fine. Goodbye.' he turned around, her sarcastic comment deemed unnecessary. Turning back to her, he looked down at her with the same expressionless face. 'I was planning on going by myself.' Without so much as a word of apology, he turned away again. As he sat down again in his chair next to the fire, he felt a little lightheaded. 'Yo heartbreaker, what was that about?' Finn's voice was growing fainter 'Mate? Cael!'

Cael woke up in the morning in an unfamiliar bed. 'Good morning son, how're you feeling.' a little dwarf-like woman was looking at him. 'What the hell happened?' he groaned, feeling like he'd been hit over the head by a mallet. 'It seems Professor Laurendale underestimated the amount of poison you took in to your body young man. You have a very good corse strength you see, don't bow down to pain easily.' he looked around for a clock 'what time is it?' she smiled 'Don't worry, you have a permit to miss Transfiguration today.' he panicked, it must have been late in the day if she was talking about Transfiguration, he had a free in the morning. 'Stupid woman! I'm fine! Fetch me my clothes.' He grabbed the awful healinig potion and downed most of it, dressing in a flash and making his way to Transfiguration.

Finn had approached the elf girl during brekfast, taking advantage of the fact that she was sat alone. 'Haaaaaay there. Agni isn't it?' she smiled a little, like she was tolerating him or something. Finn made a special effort to make sure the Elladora lad he was taunting the day before in Escorial, saw what he was doing; for some reason it felt like it would bother him for some reason, Finn liked the idea of bothering him.

Cael arrived noticably late to Tranfiguration, looking terribly gaunt and not imaculate for once. 'Apologies Professor, the nurse thought it would be benifitial to keep me from my studies.' he said in a laboured voice. There were hardly any spare seats, then he noticed the girl he had talked to in the common room and the spare seat next to her. 'Perfect.' Sitting down, he opened his books, straightened his posture and han a hand through his hair. 'You know, I was thinking.' he whispered in the girl's ear, leaning in a little closer to her 'Perhaps, if I was planning on going to this insufferable ball alone, and you were planning on not attending at all, perhaps you should go alone too. With me.' he said what he wanted to say in the most confusing terminology he could think of. He wasn't asking her, it was more of a demand. 'I hear the advanced herbology students are making corsarges. I'll pick you up at eight.'

Agni arrived in herbology frowning. Their task was to flower as many non-magical plants as possible for the welcoming ball the next week, hardly a difficult task. She set to work straight away, ignorning the chatter about the ball the other students were making, infact she didn't say anything at all until Jacob turned up. 'You were very rude to me yesterday.' she huffed, showing a plant in his hands for him to hold while she flowered yet another one. 'But i'll forgive you if you actually learn something today, here...' she took the plant off of him, placing it on his bench and patting around in her pockets 'Oh fiddlesticks...' she muttered 'Professor, I believe i've left my wand in my room, may I g and collect it?' with permission, she quickly ran her way across the fields and back, now with wand in hand and a little breathless. 'I'm a terrible witch. Forgetting my stupid wand... anyway! Where were we? Ah yes, you, learning, right, hold out your wand, and copy me, but with this plant. Ready? flos et custodiunt!... yeah look! You flowered it! Yay!' she clapped her hands for him. 'Now you are forgiven.' she put his plant aside and grabbed another for herself, focussing all her attention on it. 'Now, what was it you wanted to tell me?' she asked, not even looking up at him. When he spoke however she felt obliged for turn her focus towards him 'Oh... um... Finley's already asked me...' she said slowly, watching his aura turn a little darker. It was the end of the lesson, and he rushed off quicker than she could have time to collect her books. Agni ran out after him. 'Jacob! Jacob wait!' She ran a little quicker, a trail of flowers blooming in the grass with every footstep, she finally caught up with him 'I said... I said no...' she exclaimed through deep breaths. 'I didn't want to hurt... any of your... hold on...' she put her hands on her knees, catching her breath a little, standing upright again after a moment or two. 'I wasn't planning on going at all so I turned him down. Oh, why do you all have to be so akward! I... I heard some girls in the common room talking earlier, they wanted to go with you, perhaps you should ask them, besides, you'd have more fun without me...' she looked up at his face, she'd never really looked at it before, his dark eyes had a certain mystery about them 'I'd only be laughed at if I went. And so would you for going with me... Don't look at e like that Jacob... Jacob! Oh fine!' she grrumbed, crossing her arms in fake-annoyance 'I'll go.'

Finn was still feeling cock-blocked by the elf girl's rejection at breakfast, but he soon got over it, asking an American pureblood to go with him instead. Of course she accepted, as did the rest of the girls he asked. He was in for a tough night.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Tue Aug 09, 2011 12:49 pm

Felicity was getting sick with all the talk about the ball, every girl in the common room was talking about their date, or lack of date, their hair and makeup, or how they were going to look hideous. She was quickly feeling the need to let something loose or perhaps ‘accidentally push somebody down the stairs for a moment’s peace; but of course she could remember what her mother had told her and the consequences of her actions. Felicity thought it would be best to just leave whilst she still felt physically able to. However after being curled up on a chair for a few hours she was now starting to feel her side and leg weren’t quite healed, especially when she sat up straight. About to stand the came face to face with the Whitehall boy. She stood and looked at his hand for a moment before taking it in a firm handshake. “I know who you are.” She didn’t feel the need to give her name back to him, Felicity watched the boy carefully as he spoke; she was suitably unimpressed that he called her out in front of the whole common room about her lack of knowledge; still she stayed calm “Thanks.” That is, until even Ludovic himself brought the topic of the ball to the table. “You assume that I want to sit in a room of pretentious airheads?” Of course no one there appreciated her dry sense of humour, especially to the son of one of, if not the most respected Wizard in the Wizarding world, still; he didn’t scare her. “Well I hope you have a wonderful time on your own!” She wasn’t about to be shot down by him, she quickly left the common room before he could say anything else to her.

Jacob sat on his bed with his head resting in his palms. He couldn’t believe that he bottled out of asking Agni, who had to be the shyest girl at the school to the dance; he felt like a complete idiot. Throwing himself dramatically on the bed he looked up at the ceiling and promised himself that he would get her to go to the dance with him, he had to let her know that she did have a friend and that he wasn’t a complete arse. But now Jacob had to get some sleep, he had Animal care first thing, and from memory of last year, it wasn’t the easiest subject he had studied. But sat at the breakfast table that morning he saw the McDognhue sat by Agni and already Jacob had no appetite, he couldn’t do anything in the grand hall, especially not approaching the redhead, the professors were all sat at the top of the room and it would be an immediate attention to case a scene like that, so Jacob stood up and left quickly, deciding it would be better if he was early to Animal care than to knock out another student. He wasn’t even sure how he saw Agni, he had grown to like her over the past two days, but only as a friend, she was refreshing, Jacob assumed he didn’t want somebody else changing that; it was one of Jacob’s flaws, his possessive nature.

Felicity however had slept through her first two lessons and only just made it to lunch. Nobody had woke her up, and by the looks of it, no teachers had noticed her absence, she assumed it was the price to pay when you threaten every girl in the dorm room that you will destroy their beds if they so much as bother her. She didn’t mind, having only missed Theory for potions and astrology, at lunch she was swarmed by a group of girls questioning how she acted with Whitehall. “But he was going to ask you, I know it!” “I would kill for him to even notice me...” “You can’t just be all rude to one of the richest people in the world Felicity.” She looked up from her soup “Why can’t I? His dad is rich, not him. Besides, he is a weirdo, he only spoke to me to tell me he was going alone...” The girls carried on quizzing her and shaming her for her actions, but Felicity felt mentally drained from staring at the theory books, only knowing too well that Transfiguration next lesson was going to be worse, at least after that she had a free lesson to hide out somewhere, perhaps the library, or the forests again; she was going to try and a harpy and cast an immobilisation charm.

During Transfiguration Ludovic burst it, grabbing the attention as always, she looked up to him briefly as he entered, but then went back to memorising incantations and charms that they would be using soon. She noticed him sit next to her but Felicity didn’t even glance sideways, she kept her eyes on her book. “Oh.” She whispered, not sure what to make of his closeness, her heart rate picking up a little. She could hear the mad flurry of whispers behind her from girls but for the first time, Cael had her undivided attention, though her eyes were still boring into her textbook. “Okay.” She couldn’t believe she was going to the bloody welcome ball.

Jacob’s heart was pounding when he walked into Herbology, he wasn’t in the mood to arrange flowers or whatever they had been told to do, but with Agni at his side, he could be sure that slacking off wasn’t an option. “Agni..” He was cut off by her. “Yeah, I know I was but what...” He looked down to the plants, “But don’t they do that on their own anyway....okay... flos et custodiunt!...” He did a few flowers before the end of the lesson was due, He turned around to Agni and sighed. “I well... last night I wanted to ask if you know, you would like to go with me to the ball... wait? Oh.” He had heard enough, grabbing his bag he left the room as soon as the door was opened, he felt like a complete idiot. He could hear her coming after him but he didn’t slow down. Once she finally caught up with him, he stopped. “But I don’t want to go with them Agni, I want to go with you... come on, you’ll have fun with me, come onn.... come oooonnn... come one....I’ll pick you up at eight ish?” Jacob smiled walking along, he had a defence class to get to.

Felicity left the Tranfiguration classroom quickly, she didn’t want to be torn apart by girls again, with a text book in one hand and her wand in the other she decided to find a harpy, she had the immobilisation charm and was determined to do the job properly this time. She was certain she was on the endurance team, but she needed to be better if she wanted to win.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Tue Aug 09, 2011 8:14 pm

As soon as Jacob left, Agni felt like dying inside. She had given the excuse to Finley that she wasn't going, it would look like she just didn't want to go with him now that she was, truth be told, she really didn't want to go. She ran back to the dorm room, having a free lesson before she had to go back to magical creatures. There was only one person she could talk to about it. '...Hello?' 'Oh, hay Dad...' 'Hello there princess! How's it going? Are you okay? Are the other girls behaving themselves?' 'Yeah kind of, anyway dad, I was going to ask your advice on something...' she rattled on about how both Finn and Jacob had asked her and how she really didn't want to go and that she didn't even have anything to wear. After about a pain-inducing half hour, her dad finally got to speak. 'Well, looks like you're just going to have to go peaches... I don't like the sound of Finley now he's been hanging around with those purebloods anyways. As for something to wear... I think I can sort that out. Trust me peaches, everything’s going to be fine.’
As the ball was approaching, Cael was beginning to get a little anxious, not for the ball, but for the result of the Knest trials. What he did was either very heroic or very stupid; he was still looking very pale and gaunt from the freshwater mermaid attack and he couldn’t determine whether Professor Laurendale would look kindly upon his actions. Finn however was confident that he’d been placed upon the Somery Knest-sports team and he voiced those opinions whilst enjoying some sun with Ludovic. ‘There’s no way that they can afford not to have me on the team... I mean...’ ‘Nice catch loser.’ ‘Shut up...’ the boys were playing a small game of catch, just non-magical catch, that game the humans played where you got down on one knee if you dropped it. Of course, Cael never dropped it. ‘Anyway as I was...’ ‘One knee.’ ‘Alright! Sheesh! As I was saying I pretty much walked it! It’s the other guy’s they’re going to have to decide on. What dress robes are you wearing for the ball? Have they arrived yet? No doubt tailored from unicorn hide or something.’ Cael decided not to rise to his taunts today. ‘No actually. Were you planning on wearing your mothers then?’ Finn threw the ball harder this time ‘Very funny princess. No actually, I wanted to know if I could borrow some.’ Cael laughed as Finn missed the ball again, leading to him sitting down ‘Borrow some?! They’d hardly fit you. Mine are all tailored to fit me. I’m sorry but no. I’ll order you some.’ ‘Thanks mate.’
Agni grabbed the parcel addressed to her off of the table before anyone could see it. It was obviously the dress that her father had said he’d sort out. Quickly finishing her breakfast, she silently cursed her father as she ran up to her dorm, If only he’d sent it sooner, if she didn’t like it, or it didn’t fit, she’d have to deal with it, there were only a few more days before the ball and she couldn’t just magic something up! Opening the envelope that was attached, she began to read. ‘These were your mothers, treat them well.’ Oh great, she thought, guilt tripping her into wearing it whether it was hideous or not.
Cael, dressed and ready, waited outside of Finn’s room patiently. When he finally did come out, the swearing was loud and obtuse. ‘What are you wearing?’ ‘It’s called a suit.’ ‘A suit? A suit!? Where are your dress robes!?’ Cael looked as pompous and grumpy as he ever did. ‘I didn’t want to wear them.’ Finn looked as if he was about to burst. ‘You mean to say that you got me these stupid things knowing full well you were going to wear a suit?!’ Cael grinned ‘I think you look rather fetching in dress robes.’ Finn calmed down a little ‘Oh really?’ ‘Yeah, I just didn’t want to wear mine, be a bit different. There’s nothing wrong with them.’ ‘Something wrong with you though mate.’
Cael was wearing a skinny fit black suit. It was obvious how expensive it was by the sheer quality of the cut. His shirt was fitted like a second skin, crisp and white, buttoned to his neck with a thin black silk tie to set the whole suit off. Finn had on a shirt too, but it was teamed with a black bow tie around his thick neck and low-cut waistcoat, black trousers and a black cloak. They walked together towards the female dorms.
Agni looked at herself in the mirror, she looked just like her mother in pictures that she’d seen of her, if not a little shorter. Her dress was definitely of elven origins, the material was unlike anything she’d ever seen before. It clung to her skin and was so light that she could hardly feel it there. The dress was primarily white... or blue... or perhaps pink... it was the colour of pearls and bubbles, that shimmering colour that never really stayed one colour for long. As she looked at herself it was definitely pale blue, but if she’d moved, it would have shimmered into another colour. It looked as if it had no stitching at all, and as if it had been draped to fit her body completely. Despite her pale skin, it suited her complexion perfectly and made her amber eyes stand out even more if possible. Her almost-white hair was pulled back off of her face, showing the intricate silver headdress that was the mark of an elven princess. Her hair was then plaited in a band around her head, and then fell in delicate curls over her shoulders. Her ear was pierced in more than one place, dressed with silver studs, hoops and finally one pair of silver drop earrings. The cut of her dress was particularly elven, around her tiny ribcage was a thin silver band that crossed over up to her shoulders, it was backless, sideless and could have been in two pieces if it weren’t for the silver. She looked at herself frowning. ‘Well, I most certainly can’t go now.’ She muttered, ‘I shall attract too much attention.’
Elves were defined by two species – Dark elves and Ami elves. They were almost undistinguishable in looks, elves even having pale or black skin and hair, both were stunningly beautiful and both had powers over nature. Dark elves however were responsible for mass murder of wizards and witches and were never trusted. Agni was an Ami elf, not that the purebloods cared what kind they were, they hated elves, and probably for good reason. Witches especially hated the elf race, the women being exceptionally beautiful.
Agni always tried her best to look ugly, her oversized clothes, hair plaited and her glasses, but there was always something about her that was elf. Now, in her mother’s dress, there was no doubt that she was elven and most certainly exceptionally beautiful too, not that she’d see it herself. She turned around, looking at the scars on her back. ‘Goodness I’m hideous...’ she muttered, pulling out her wand. She cast a temporary spell on her scars to lessen. It meant that nobody would really see them unless they were specifically looking for them. It would only last the night, but that was enough for her. At that moment, there was a knock at the dorm room door. All the other girls had already left, so it must have been for her. Finely crafted ballet slippers adorned her feet as she tentatively walked over to the door, grabbing an old brown cloak to pull over her, feeling embarrassed already. She opened the door and smiled at Jacob, he looked good. She stopped breathing for a moment upon looking at him; he certainly was handsome, for a wizard boy. ‘You look nice.’ She said shakily, looking down to the floor again, feeling his eyes on her. ‘Should we go? Oh, no actually, I was thinking about wearing this cloak for the whole time... I don’t really want to... fine. Wait for me downstairs then, I’ll be out in a minute.’ She closed the door again, leaning against it and breathing heavily, ‘What was my dad thinking!’ she exclaimed ‘I can’t wear this! It’s suicide! Oh blast. Stuff it then!’ With some courage from somewhere, she took off the cloak, opened the door, walked down the corridor and stopped at the top of the stairs, looking down at Jacob. ‘Are you happy now?’ she grumbled, delicately stepping down the stairs in such a way that couldn’t be described.
Cael split off with Finn when they arrived at the common room. ‘See you in there.’ He muttered, walking up the stairs towards his date’s room. Knocking on the door, he remembered that he still didn’t know her name, but that wasn’t too much bother. As the door opened, looked her up and down. ‘You look... acceptable.’ He paused ‘I was half expecting jeans.’ With her reply he laughed, genuinely smiling for once. ‘Glad to hear it Miss Moran.’ He offered her his arm, feeling satisfied with his choice to ask her to accompany him. He walked her down towards the hall. ‘May I ask your name? I’d look terribly stupid if I called you Moran all evening. One feels almost weighed down by ones family name don’t you think? Expectations to live up to. People associating you with your family... I don’t wish to do that with you.’ He looked to her as she spoke. ‘Felicity. It means Happiness in Latin I believe, an old name. I won’t go into what my names mean, we’ll be here forever. You can call me Ludovic.’

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Thu Aug 11, 2011 4:10 am

Jacob walked away to his next classroom with a grin fixed to his face, when the ball came around he was determined to make it a good one, the ball last year had been so dry and dull; he had had no date and went back to his room early. But Jacob had the slightly awkward problem of other girls quickly getting closer to him, offering to help in potions, or perhaps sit next to him in Divination and watch, he knew what they wanted, ever since Agni had pointed out that girls wanted to go to the ball with him it had all become very obvious. It was no doubt that Jacob had gotten more handsome over the summer, last year he had been thin, weedy and rather reclusive. It wasn't until his older sister encouraged him onto the Knest sports team later in the year that he properly made friends. He had wondered if that was why he liked Agni, because there was a part of him that would have loved a second year to talk to and guide him.

The night of the ball was here and he stood in front of his floor length mirror to sort out his dress robes. They were smart and fitted; just what a wizard should wear. But he wasn’t a complete wizard, not by this world’s eyes anyway, he was incomplete. He hadn’t had time to sort out or file his nails that night; they were still pretty filed but sharper than the average magicing human. He curled his hands into fists in nervous anticipation; no one had ever mistaken him for anything else but a pure blood. Most of the witches and wizards were too stupid to tell the difference unless your skin was a different colour or you had a tail, he didn’t look especially like anything, but he wasn’t the same, he didn’t feel normal. “Come on.” Jacob spoke to himself in the mirror “You’ll just ruin the night for yourself.” He laughed, acting like some teenaged drama queen. With a hand through his hair, Jacob left the room to meet up with a few friends before going to Agni’s dorm room, with them, obviously picking up their dates from there as well. But they separated once they saw each of their dates, he let them walk in first and instead stood in the doorway looking for Agni. He wondered for a moment if he had gotten the right room when she turned around, he wasn't sure why she was wearing a cloak. "Thank you? I'd say the same but... Are you thinking on wearing... Agni you were the one worried about being laughed at, let me see your dress... I'm sure you look lovely." Jacob left the room, leaning on the wall, a little confused; he didn't understand elves. He walked down to the ballroom alone, he was getting looks and he was Beginning to wonder if Agni was going to come down stairs at all. "W...wow." Jacob looked up at his date with a smile, he hadn't noticed how beautiful she truly was; of course he had seen that Agni was pretty, but in that dress her true beauty shone.

Felicity however wasn't concerned with displaying her beauty that night, she had spent a long time arguing with her mother about what to wear, felicity insisting that she didn't want a dress because e didn't plan on going, but the reply was the standard. "Don't you take that tone with me young lady, you are at a prestigious school and you will act in a way that is expected. Besides, I sent you your dress last week, it will arrive later today." Felicity opened the package with distaste, the dress was dark blue, slightly fitted but all in all rather plain and rather modest, it didn't suit her personality at all; but it was only for tonight, after that she would make her own or refuse all together. Her hair was again loose but where other girls were curling or straightening, she left hers as it was. A knock on the door caused the remaining girls to jump up in anticipation and tense up when they saw Whitehall, a few stray giggles here and there. "Acceptable? well you look... Hmm...I'll keep this polite, I don't want to offend these delicate ears," girls fit to faint were listening in. She took his arm and walked towards the ball, she could already hear laughter and chattering. "My name is felicity." She already knew what her name meant but was intrigued by his. "You'll have to tell me the rest another time...Say, Ludovic" She made sure no prefect of professor was around. "You wouldn't happen to drink would you?" She raised an eyebrow with a flirtatious smile; was curious, and had hip flask strapped to the inside of her leg. Of course she was convinced Ludovic wasn’t her type, for starter he was English and was too far up himself for his own good, not to mention she guessed e was a bit of a know it all. She didn’t understand why he had invited her to join him, there had to be hundreds of girls who would have gladly dressed up, been the perfect date and even put out for him.

Jacob took the arm of his date with a confident smile, walking her into the ball room he leant down to her. “You look really beautiful, you really do.” In truth she had taken his breath away.

The pair walked into the ball room and Jacob wondered what Agni was thinking, he was a little nervous himself but that was generally the excitement of it all, he could tell she was nervous before at her dorm room but now she didn’t seem to bad. Slowing his pace Jacob quickly glanced at Agni’s back and was shocked to see the sore and open wounds that had been there before were almost gone. "Do you want a drink?" He ran a hand through his hair, locating where the large punch bowl was. "Stay here a second, I got get some."

Lucinda had spent the whole week with Saberio debating harshly over who should make the teams for Endurance, Somery house was n doubt the hardest to decide upon, everyone who managed to get locket and return within the time limit did so in good time; in fact a better time than had been expected by the two professors. "But Saberio! Lucinda hissed at the taller professor, one of her snakes curling itself up her arm. "No Lucinda, we need one like that on the team, not afraid of injury, able to jump straight into a task without question, able to think on their feet." There was no winning with Saberio, They sealed in envelopes together. "I hope you are right, the first tournament is soon are you sure they can actually work as a team." Saberio smiled knowingly. "They'll have to."

The teachers stood at the head of the room and Saberio handed the envelopes for the Knest teams and for Endurance teams to the head master who dimmed the candles and immediately gained the room’s attention “Good evening, It’s time to announce those who have been accepted onto the teams..."As each name was read out a roar of applause erupted and the team members were invited to come and collect a small pin from the headmaster, the pin was a sign to show the rest of the school they were on their specific team. The endurance teams were announced first, Somery were first to announced, Felicity watched the headmaster intently, she had to be on the team, she was the third to be called up. Walking up to the headmaster Felicity smiled; it had to be the first genuine smile since she arrived, though it was a very smug one. With the pin fastened to the top of her dress she stood at the front of the hall looking at all the others, she wondered why. “And Somery’s Endurance team captain is, Ludovic Von Whitehall.” She couldn’t believe it. The team left the front of the ballroom and the other endurance teams were announced and then it was time for the Knest teams, again Somery were first, Jacob was returning to Agni as Finn’s name was called. He rolled his eyes, a little nervous now about whether he would make the team; he had been friendly with the coach’s daughter last year and asked her to put in a good word this year. Thrisdin were last to be announced, he looked to Agni nervously as his name still hadn’t been called. “And captain on Thrisdin’s Knest squad is Jacob Elladora.” As the crowd applauded Jacob could hear the voices of his friends cheering loudly, he looked for the coach’s daughter and winked, he would have to return the favour at some point. He passed Finn on the way to collect his captain’s pin, smug in knowing that him dobbing Jacob in didn’t stop him getting on the team.

“Now I would like to invite all of the team members to lead the first dance of the evening.” Jacob turned to Agni. “Would you like to?” He did. “Come on Agni, I bet you dance wonderfully; you’ll be better than me, no doubt... come on...” He flashed her a smile and led her onto the dance floor, Jacob had had dancing lessons as a child, his parents wanting him to be as well rounded as possible but as the music started he could tell she was a wonderful dancer, she was the perfect dance partner. Felicity looked to Ludovic but didn’t say anything, she wasn’t rushing up to dance, but when offered she took his hand and followed Ludovic to the centre of the room. Her mother had insisted on Felicity learning to dance, it was apparently traditional of a Moran lady to be able to dance; and she could dance, it was one of the few things her mother was proud of her for, but much like her partner she was taught to dance in a very strict condition, Felicity hardly expressed herself whilst dancing, but it was still beautiful to watch.

Jacob took her arm as she straightened her posture a little. “You look really beautiful, you really do.” she smiled a little, looking down to where she was going. ‘Thank you.’ She said her voice a little bolder as she raised her head to walk into the ballroom.
The whole dining hall had been dressed in flowers, the large tables moved away somewhere and now a large ballroom with a stage at the front which was being set up with amps and various other technical equipment ready for the band later that evening, for now, there was a classical string quartet playing. She looked out to the crowd of faces as she walked through them, her head held high, of course inside she was silently wishing that any moment now a hole would appear in the floor and the earth would swallow her up and save everybody the trouble of battering her later; but on the outside she looked calm and collected. She looked over to Jacob, who looked decidedly more nervous, handsome admittedly, but nervous. His aura was flitting around wildly. They stopped to the right of the crowd, girls turning around and pointing at her in an obsolete way, whispering things wide-eyed and careless. "Do you want a drink?" she looked up at him, her large amber eyes scanning his face, checking to see if that was just an excuse to get away. Seeing that he looked genuine she smiled, ‘Yeah sure. Only a small one though.’ He looked around, running a hand through his dark hair before running off to find some punch or something. At that moment, she was approached by Finley.

Finn had swaggered into the hall with a couple of girls, a pair of twins to be exact, one on each arm; thankfully they were used to sharing. The girls seemed totally engrossed in his company until they started pointing towards the door and hurriedly gossiping with each other, he felt the need to turn and see what all the fuss about was, he soon wished he hadn’t. He glared at the Elf girl, arm in arm with his rival from Knest. ‘Excuse me Ladies.’ He muttered, walking over to her as soon as he was gone. ‘Didn’t think you’d come eh? Got a better offer I suppose?’ She turned to him, looking like a rabbit in the headlights. ‘Whatever.’ He muttered, going to turn away, but changing his mind at the last moment, leaning into her almost threateningly ‘If that... cheat gets on the team... I’ll know why.’ He growled, staring her down a little moment longer before walking away again, back to his girls.

Cael looked to Felicity as she addressed him. "You wouldn't happen to drink would you?" He smiled, looking up again ‘Like a fish.’ She raised an eyebrow at him, the slight hint of mischief in them; he took her arm, and led her to the ballroom.
Cael was silent in anticipation, he was almost sure that he would be on the team, there was that one niggling doubt in his mind however, the one that told him getting hurt on the first trial wasn’t such a good idea. The room fell quiet when the names were read out. He watched Felicity walk to the stand, the other girls glaring in her wake. That was it, no more names, only the captain which was sure to be a second year at least. “And Somery’s Endurance team captain is, Ludovic Von Whitehall.” He let out a small sigh, the confidant coldness returning in his eyes, he stood in front of the school, quiet in the knowledge that he’d finally done it. On the announcement of a dance for the teams, he paused, finally turning to Felicity, standing to his right, ‘May I?’ he presumptuously asked, holding a hand out to her, she took it and they danced. They were a conservative pairing, putting no soul into dancing, but still executing it with complete perfection.

Agni watched Jacob as he left her to collect his captain’s pin. She had of course been the reason that he was put forward ; he had played well in his previous patches, and if she hadn’t of ignored his cheating in relaying the information to the Professors, he would have been banned, not made captain. Not that she would tell him any of that. “Now I would like to invite all of the team members to lead the first dance of the evening.” She rolled her eyes Fantastic, she thought, as if she wasn’t attracting enough attention as it was, she was about to hide herself in the crowd when Jacob found her again. “Would you like to?” ‘Not really. Now if you excuse me...’ “Come on Agni, I bet you dance wonderfully; you’ll be better than me, no doubt... come on...” she sighed, never being the one to stand her ground. With the most minimal effort, she placed her hand in his, making it perfectly known that she was grumpy about her decision. As soon as she was on the dance floor however, all her worries seemed to melt away. She danced effortlessly, almost floating. He was the perfect partner, directing her, leading her, he danced wonderfully. She looked up to his face, a large smile spreading across her face. She laughed, the sound almost like bells.

‘Where the hell is this place?’ High up in the dark night, sky, a young witch was flying on her broom elegantly, a small leather suitcase looped by the handle over the front and a pink hairless cat wearing a knitted hat and jumper set, sat comfortably on the back. ‘I swear it’s harder to find in the dark...’ she muttered to the cat, who mewed in reply. ‘Yeah... that’s what I thought... hold on, turn that music off will ya? It’s distracting me.’ The cat got up out of its basket that was strapped onto the broom, and pawed at the dial on the portable radio, turning down the blaring music coming from it. ‘Thank you! Now, I took the first left... or was it right... Hold on, what’s that...’ she squinted into the darkness, seeing a whole host of flickering lights. ‘Looks like our stop Jimmy!’
Toughing down in the lantern-lit courtyard of her new school, the young woman looked around, a grin appearing on her face. She looked down to her cat. ‘I give it five minutes.’
They walked through the empty school together, their footsteps echoing down the cold stone hallways. The witch held her broom in one hand and her suitcase in the other, Jimmy the cat however, had the portable radio strapped to his knitted covered back as he trotted beside his master. She kicked open the door to her room. ‘Well, isn’t this cosy...’ she took another moment to look around before sighing and dropping her things, then moving to un-strap the radio from the cat. ‘Where the hell is everybody?’ she asked herself, picking up the cat and stroking its hat-covered head. She decided to explore, finally winding up to the source of the chatter she had heard a little earlier. Walking into the ballroom she smirked ‘Well well well. A party and we weren’t invited eh kitty?’ She wore a pair of skinny fit jeans, a transparent black blouse and a pair of high black heels. Her light brown hair was neatly pulled back by a pair of designer sunglasses. ‘These British kids are a bore.’ A young man older than her approached. ‘Hay, you lost princess... Hay aren’t you...?’ ‘Going to ask you to dance? Yeah, I was. The name’s Ephemera, Polly Ephemera.’

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Thu Aug 25, 2011 6:20 am

Jacob had laughed at how Agni had protested to dancing, she was so reserved and he couldn’t make sense of it; as soon as she relaxed and followed his lead it was like dancing with Lily petals caught in a summer breeze, she was the perfect partner. Not one for dancing himself Jacob actually enjoyed himself, relaxing as well. He smiled as she laughed, it was delicate, carefree; he enjoyed every second of it. Jacob looked at the other couples, they all looked anxious and unsure, of course they could dance; those who excelled tended to be from well off families or families with status so were trained to do so. Any family like that trained their children to be well rounded. (Which of course led to hours upon hours of dance lessons). But they didn’t seem to enjoy what they were doing; one couple in particular stood out to him. Ludovic Von Whitehall and Felicity Moran. He had heard of both before but couldn’t help notice the distance in both of their eyes; as if they were dancing alone, but together. The Felicity was pretty in most guy’s eyes but from what he had seen of her she didn’t do much to make friends almost repelling others, he wondered why. Ludovic he had tried to avoid, he didn’t know much about him other than his family’s reputation; but if his friend Finley was anything to go by; they wouldn’t get on.

As the music slowed he took Agni by the hand and lead her away from the dance floor, he was well aware of the girls glaring at her, some whispering maliciously other in total awe and jealousy. He hoped however for tonight he could help her ignore them.

Felicity caught the dark haired boy looking at the pair when they were dancing and frowned, not sure what he was up to, like most of the school’s residents she knew the stories and rumours about the Elladora family’s past; she didn’t personally believe a word of it, but he still had an heir about him that made him all the more interesting. As the music came to the end of the first song she quickly broke away from Ludovic, not wanting him to get the wrong idea about her. Walking away from the dancing couples she lowered her voice and produced in her hand a miniature hipflask- the enchanted sort, taking the form of one much smaller than it actually was. “So you drink?” She covertly took a sip from the flask and handed it to her date. “There’s enough in there to floor a half giant, try not to drink it all.” Looking around the great hall she noticed how full it was, far fuller than during any meal time, it was getting hot and she needed some air. “Would you excuse me for a moment?” Felicity said, looking a little irritated and flustered, looking down to the flask she shook her head. “You can keep a hold of that, I’ll be back.” She left the conversation at that and headed towards the doors, pushing through the elf girl and her mysterious date for the evening, she didn’t even look back to apologise.

Jacob looked to Felicity with a scowl, “Ignore her, it’s girls like that who will get nowhere in life.” Of course he knew he was lying, it was girls with her determination that got everywhere, even if it meant hurting others. He turned back to Agni with a smile, “You should dance more, I mean, I have never had a partner dance like that? How many lessons have you had?” He looked surprised. “No kidding! Well, I was right when I said you would put me to shame, or should I say you brought out the best in me?” Taking Agni’s arm he led her over to get another drink where a few foot away was Finley, Jacob couldn’t help himself. “Oh mate, well done on making the team.” His voice was laced with a smug sense of satisfaction and Jacob relished in irritating Finn with it. “See you out of the field.” He offered his hand in a hand shake, gripping Finn’s hand tightly, as to bear warning. But he quickly turned back to Agni with a set of drinks and walked away with her again.

Outside, Felicity looked over the castle wall to the lover levels of the castle, there were so many places left untouched for centuries, rooms that hadn’t been entered since the castle was built. She wanted to find them. The breeze was cooling, she felt a lot better, but she kept close to the firelight; behind her were heckles and fits of laughter, at first she ignored them but soon realised that they were aimed at her. A group of five girls coming towards her. “So, what did you do to get a date with Ludovic then?” Felicity raised an eyebrow. “What do you-“ She was quickly cut off. “You know exactly what she meant,” another snarled “I bet you’re a right little slut, what did you promise him? Hah, we don’t even want to know.” Felicity wasn’t shocked by the insults at first, but as she tried to enter the castle the girls followed and continued the taunts, grating at her. “He wouldn’t go for a girl like you, he probably just feels sorry for you, a little loner; no friends, no life, nothing! Haha, I bet he just wants a quick one and you’ll be pushed to one side! Stupid cow.” Felicity wasn’t going to take this anymore. Offended and a little hurt she didn’t go back to the ball, but straight to her dorm. She sat at the foot of her bed, candles lit, looking through a certain charms book, set on making those girls pay for what they did, whether it was tomorrow or next week. Tears prickled her eyes but she fought them back, they were tears of frustration and anger, she should have never gone in the first place.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Thu Aug 25, 2011 8:17 am

The first dance of the evening had finished and Jacob took Agni's hand to lead her away from the floor, just as he did however, the Moran girl pushed through them. Agni glared, looking frightfully annoyed. 'Well. How rude.' After his comment, Jacob turned back round to her with a smile. She caught her breath a little. There was something a little different about it. “You should dance more, I mean, I have never had a partner dance like that? How many lessons have you had?” She looked bewildered 'People have lessons? You mean... that's ridiculous! I'm an Elf stupid, we don’t need lessons!' she laughed a little more “No kidding! Well, I was right when I said you would put me to shame, or should I say you brought out the best in me?” her face seemed to glow a little in embarrassment ‘Don’t be silly. You’re the best dance partner I’ve ever had...’ They walked over to the drinks table; thankfully no alcoholic beverages were being served. As she clutched a glass of water, her eyes flickered around to see a group of girls whispering. It was evident they were talking about her, they glared, looking her up and down murderously as if they were going to slit her throat right there and then. Agni merely smiled at them, taking Jacob’s arm a little tighter.

Ludovic separated from Felicity as quickly as she had from him, like magnets repelling each other. “So you drink?” He looked down to her hand, an almost unrecognizable smirk creeping on his face as she handed the flask to him “There’s enough in there to floor a half giant, try not to drink it all.” He laughed, actually laughed. ‘Half giants have the stamina of gnomes compared to me.' As he took a drink, wincing from the strength of it, she began to excuse herself. Cael held out the flask for her to take with her but she refused, he was about to offer to go with her when she professed that she would be back. Watching her go, he could already feel the swarms of adolescent females closing in.

Finn stayed mostly to the drinks table, being half Scottish, the heat didn’t agree well with him. The reject of a second year’s voice shocked him a little, he turned, his face soon flushing with anger as a smug expression revealed itself on his opponents face. “See you out of the field.” Finn took the other man’s hand, gripping it almost tighter than he was his. ‘If you make it there.’ He growled as the couple walked away.

Agni rolled her eyes as they walked away. ‘Did you have to do that? You know what, taunt him! He got in through merit. You only got in because... well, not for your playing anyway...’ as she took her last sip of drink, a young man approached, he must have been at least three years older than her ‘Excuse me, would you mind if I took this next dance?’ she looked at him horrified. Somewhere in his past must have been elven blood by the look of him, but way back in his past. The mere thought of dancing with anyone suddenly crippled her with fear. ‘Uh... I... um... Actually... I was just going to... um... go outside for a moment...? Do you mind if you have the one after this one?’ she went to make a quick exit ‘No Jacob, it’s okay... I’ll be fine.’

‘GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF ME! I AM A STUDANT UGH!’ Polly’s cries were hardly heard over the music, but anyone watching would know that she was kicking up a fuss. Two beasts of men were hauling her outside of the hall after she was caught in there. Apparently it was a no dress no dance policy. She kicked and screamed all the way to the cold stone floor, Jimmy being sent hurtling onto her lap behind her. ‘WELL FINE! I’LL HAVE MY OWN DAMN PARTY!’ She stood up, brushing herself off angrily. ‘What kind of a welcome was...’ her attention was caught suddenly by some cackling nearby. She set out to investigate, her heels in hand after she broke one flinging it at a bouncer. Peering around a corner, she saw a group of girls. Raising her eyebrow a little, she could instantly see what was going on, but not who it was directed at. That was until she was sent running the other way. She was wearing a rather plain dress, and her dark hair was pretty conservative, so there was, point blank, no way the things the other girls were saying true. She waited for a moment, the anger building in her.
‘What was he playing at?’ ‘I bet it was just because he’s such a nice guy and wouldn’t let her go on her own.’ ‘Yeah right, did you see the slag...?’ ‘Hello ladies.’ The girls stopped, not seeing where the voice had come from. Polly stood in the dark, she would have towered over them if they were any closer, she was easily five foot ten. ‘Who’s there?’ one brave girl called. Polly laughed a little before stepping into the light. ‘What’s the matter princess? You scared? Hi, my name’s Polly.’ The lead bitch took one look at her before curling her lip in distaste. ‘What did you come as yank?’ ‘I said my name was Polly.’ ‘I heard what your bloody name was, now move!’ Polly moved in the way of the girl once more ‘I don’t think so. You see, I don’t quite like what you did to that girl back there...’ The girls laughed ‘Oh yeah? Well, she deserved it and what’s more...’ the gobby cow gasped in shock as the new girl drew her wand to her neck lightning quick. ‘I wasn’t finished...’ The girl got over her shock, pushing the wand out of the way, pulling out hers and firing a spell, Polly was too fast dodging out of the way, pulling her arm back and letting it swing square into the younger girl’s face. The girl screamed out in pain as blood streamed from her broken nose. Her friends huddled around her, leaving Polly to head for the stairs.

Agni had seen everything, she had watched the bullies that had taunted her earlier get their comeuppance, and it felt great, she only wished she could stand up to them too. Standing in the dark, she let out a small squeak in shock as a hand touched her arm ‘Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you, it’s just, you promised me this dance’ Agni looked up at the young man. ‘Oh it’s you. Oh I’m sorry I mean...’ she sighed ‘yes I did...’ Being led back into the ballroom was horrible enough, what made it that little bit worse was that she instantly spotted Jacob, dancing with the Escorial coach’s daughter. ‘Hello?!’ she snapped back into reality ‘Sorry?’ the young man laughed ‘I asked your name! Geez! That your boyfriend over there or something?’ she turned a serious shade of red ‘No! I mean... no, he isn’t... just a friend... My name is Agatetcher.’ The guy smiled dazzlingly. ‘What a beautiful name. I’m Elliott. You’re an elf right?’ why did the conversation always have to turn to that ‘Half elf.’ Elliott stared at her strangely as her eyes kept flickering over to where Jacob was. ‘You look all elf to me.’ ‘That’s because my mother was a High Priestess.’ ‘Whoa... Oh God I’m sorry!’ Agni yelped as he stood on her foot. ‘It’s okay!’ she squeaked through gritted teeth. This happened several more times throughout the dance.

After another two dances it became apparent that Felicity wasn’t returning. Cael began to weigh up the pros and cons. On the downside, he would have to put up with being hounded by ridiculous young girls, on the upside; he could find himself paralytic before the night was through to help himself deal with it. He finally decided it would be a smarter move to retrieve her, however as he was just leaving the hall, he almost collided with someone he hadn’t seen before. ‘Woahhhh there handsome... and who are you?’ He looked at the girl, bewildered. ‘You mean you don’t know who I am?’

Polly had gotten lost looking for the other girl; her bearings were totally out of whack so she decided to make her way back into the hall through some serious stealth. As she was about to make it in unnoticed, she found herself heading straight toward the tastiest bit of ass she had seen since arriving. ‘No I don’t doll, that’s why I asked your name, try to keep up.’ He looked utterly flabbergasted. ‘I...’ he struggled for words ‘You know what? That’s obviously too much effort for you, how’s about you just shut up and kiss me?’ without warning, she grabbed both sides of his collar and pulled him into her, kissing the face off of him until he finally grew some balls to push her off. ‘Madam! This is preposterous!’ she giggled, ‘But fun huh?’ he stumbled a little, giving her opportunity to kiss him again, to which he opposed more, spluttering in sheer aghast. ‘I am Ludovic Von Whitehall! Not a... A Jiggalo! Explain yourself charlatan!’ she giggled again ‘Oh you sure are funny frat boy. Don’t get your thong in a twist. Say, you ask that girl to the ball just because you wanted some ass eh Vicky?’ this time he looked like he was about to burst ‘How... How dare you assume...!’ ‘Good! Because she’s up in her room, some girls giving her some trouble about it. And I can see why...’ she growled at him, leading him to jump a little in fright ‘Ahaha, just kiddin Vicky. I sorted them bitches out anyway. You go get your woman. I’ll come back for you.’ She winked, leaving him wondering what just happened.

After Cael had recovered from the casual mouth rape that he had just received from some American no less, he headed straight for Felicity’s dorm room, not even bothering to knock on arrival. Walking in, he soon spotted her, not saying anything for a moment. ‘I can’t drink all of this by myself.’ Was the sentence he finally came up with, throwing her flask to her. He sat down on the crappy dorm bed next to her. ‘I certainly had no intentions of sleeping with you...’ he muttered ‘Oh god no, I didn’t mean for that to sound like... you’re an attractive girl I guess It’s just that I don’t... Oh Lord... give me that.’ He grabbed the flask off of her, taking a good long drink.

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Fri Aug 26, 2011 8:08 am

Jacob turned to face Agni quickly, not liking her tone. “Through with merit?” his eyes darkened; he half knew what she meant but didn’t want to peruse it. He had a hot temper and didn’t want to competition, of all types. He noticed the elven boy of sorts watching Agni earlier in the night, he looking him up and down as he asked Agni to dance, Jacob had half expected her reaction. “Oh do you want me to come out with you? Yeah? Okay I’ll be around here.” He nodded to the older boy; he didn’t scare Jacob in the slightest. He turned to get another drink and sat down at one of the emptier tables. He was watching the couples dancing and the teachers at the top of the room, a few were dancing but most were still sat, chatting amongst themselves, he caught sight of Professor Laurendale and for a brief moment their eyes met; he didn’t break off his stare- Jacob had had a few run ins with the professor in the year before; namely of Jacob reacting to his family rumours. Needless to say there was something that Lucinda Laurendale didn’t like in Jacob and the feeling was mutual from Jacob. His professor was first to look away, feeling smug Jacob was on the verge of becoming bored, with no alcohol and his date missing Jacob stood and saw the coaches’ daughter.

“Amy, care to dance?” He smiled, taking her hand and leading her to the dance floor. “How was your summer?” He was vaguely interested in what she had been up to, but he was more interested in how she persuaded her father in getting Jacob on the team, he was guessed for sure that due to his cheating he would have been banned for the year. “How’s your father then? Well?” He smirked, but Amy didn’t seem too interested in talking about school work. As the music started his partner tensed up a little; obviously nervous. Jacob lead her around the hall, like he did with Agni but he couldn’t help but notice that Amy didn’t flow like Agni did, Amy was far more stiff and looking to the floor as if she were counting her on steps. “Relax, you’re doing great.” He smiled. Amy looking up to him. “Really?” “Sure you are, just follow my lead, and see your doing beautifully...” He noticed Amy’s cheeks blush as the song slowed to a close, but Amy asked him to wait for the next song. “You made dancing... I don’t know, fun? My boyfriend just stands on my feet and pulls me around...”  Jacob laughed and agreed to dance again, Agni hadn’t returned so he decided to dance this last dance before going to look for her. Amy still wasn’t like Agni, but second time around she had lightened up and for a pureblood she was dancing like it was second nature. The second song ended and Jacob saw Agni with the other guy and his eyes narrowed slightly, but his attention was quickly turned to Amy’s man. “Oi, what you do think you’re doing? Filthy mixed blood touching my girl.” He had a hold of Amy; he had to be in one of the higher years of the school. Jacob couldn’t cause a scene here, Agni was back and he had been warned if he kicked off again like he did before there would be serious consequences. So instead he walked away and got another drink, waiting for Agni to finish her dance, she watched her with him and couldn’t help a small smirk escape his lips when he noticed the elfish guy standing on her feet and taking her the wrong way.

“There is a door for a reason” Felicity was nearly startled out of her skin. Clutching the front of her dress she took a deep breath and regained her composure, not looking at him when he sat down beside her, she closed the charms book. However he did gain her attention quickly after. “So it’s like that, is it? I was a pity date or something!?” Playing with the lid of the flask she scowled. “You guess?” Felicity laughed sarcastically. “Damn it Whitehall, and yes, I will call you white hall, I am three times as attractive that you are, all you have that girls want is money and fame.” She snatched the flask back, taking a sharp swig of the alcohol, hissing at its strength; but it seemed to do the job. “Just tell me...” She finally turned around to face her ‘date’ “Why did you ask me to go-but-not-go with you? There have to be plenty of girls who would give a few fingers for you to even say their bloody names, let alone ask them something like going to a ball.” There was a sense of bitterness in her voice, having never had a proper boyfriend herself but the heart of the question was pure curiosity. “I don’t care about those girls down there, they don’t want to be successful, they don’t want to win at anything, they can prance about in their eveningwear, I want to get somewhere in life... I know, I must sound like some bitter, prudish bitch but it’s true.” She took another swig of the alcohol and she stood up, feeling awkward tensions rise. “Come on, if you mean what you’ve said I’ve got something to show you.” She stood up and unzipped the back of her dress, letting it fall to the floor, Felicity looked to Ludovic "No, not that!" She pulled on a pair of dark jeans and a jumper and took Ludovic by the wrist and led him out of the dorm and along the corridor but didn't go down the stairs. "Shh. This way..." She slipped through a broken door along an open air corridor, looking out over the castle. At the end of the open corridor was another smaller door, it was unlocked so they got in quickly. The room looked old and untouched, the windows were dusty but gesturing to the window both could see far beyond the castle grounds. "I want to go all the way out there..."

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. on Fri Aug 26, 2011 10:20 am

The conversation with Elliott was terrible. She found herself talking about herself more than anything, which always got her worked up ‘Oh so, you live with your father now huh? Who is a... pureblood...?’ she was still glaring at what was going on to her right with the pretty girl and her date. ‘Yes. Have they only started dancing?’ the guy looked around ‘Oh. Nah, he danced with her last too.’ She scowled ‘And what did you...’ interrupting him, she managed to change the subject ‘So, you’re not all human, there’s some of our blood mixed in there am I correct? Ami or Dark?’ he looked at her totally bewildered ‘Uh... I... Elf I think.’ She rolled her eyes, trying her best to smile ‘How interesting. Ow!’ he apologised again for stepping on her foot ‘It’s fine, anyway, thank you very much for asking me to dance, it has been a pleasure.’ The guy’s face lit up ‘Oh really? Gee thanks... see you in Herbology!’ He walked away, the song having finished, and with his comment left her staring back at him. She had never noticed him in her class before, and felt terrible for it. Suddenly forgetting all about Jacob, she took to the clearest path to where the food table was. An impressive spread as always, however she only had the appetite to nibble on a small slice of apple. ‘Hay, Agni right?’ She turned to the familiar voice ‘Oh. Hello Finley.’

Finley had been dancing with various girls all evening, but still hadn’t had chance to talk to the one girl that had rejected him. Not only did he want to confront her, but he also wanted to rack up Elladora’s temper. He approached her while she was at the food table, picking up a few grapes and putting them in his hand to absentmindedly chew whilst talking to her. ‘So, get a better offer did you?’ Agni winced, ‘Finley it wasn’t like that... I really didn’t want to go but...’ he leaned in closer to her, causing her to bend back a little as his face was almost touching hers. ‘Yeah, sure. Just so’s you know. You’ll never get anywhere with buddy boy over there.’ ‘I don’t know what you...’ ‘Oh shut up.’ He breathed, his voice softer than a whisper but still managing to be threatening ‘He won’t ever go for a thing like you. You’re too... nice. His type pity you, in fact, I think his type eat you...’ he paused, his face now inches away from hers. ‘So, Kitten, how about you just stop playing the fool. We all know you’re cleverer than that.’ He winked at her, pulling away just as his lips were just brushing hers.

Agni watched the Scottish boy walk away, frozen with both fear, hurt and perhaps even anger. She scowled, tears brimming to her eyes, just as she was about to walk away from the situation, a whisper caught her attention ‘Did you see her, she’s such a slag.’ ‘Yeah, and what does she think she’s wearing...’ ‘God I know. I bet she’s putting out...’ In a frustrated shout of anger, Agni turned to the girls, her wand already drawn, advancing on them and slurring out a fit of French profanities. Unfortunately, the girl’s too had their wands about them, and after the first set of attacks from Agni, they began to fight back, surprisingly though, Agni kept the curses and counter curses coming, they began to back off as she disarmed one of them. Suddenly, just as she was about to seriously injure an unarmed girl, a strong pair of arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her away from the fight. ‘Get off of me! Permettez-moi d'aller! Permettez-moi d'aller! J'ai eu assez ! Let me go !’ Her final shout was outside as she was dragged there and plonked on the cold stone floor, the door being closed behind her. She sat on the cold hard floor, her head in her hands. From her moment of anger, she was still shaking, but now instead of feeling that rage that came from all her feelings being pent up since she got there, she began to cry. Her tears brimmed over until they were spilling onto her cheeks. Her sobs were no longer quiet, she sounded like she was really hurting, really in pain. ‘qu'ai-je fait ? Je suis désolé...’

“Damn it Whitehall, and yes, I will call you white hall, I am three times as attractive that you are, all you have that girls want is money and fame.” Cael looked suitably unimpressed as she both slated him and took the alcohol away. “Why did you ask me to go-but-not-go with you? There have to be plenty of girls who would give a few fingers for you to even say their bloody names, let alone ask them something like going to a ball.” He paused, before asking an equally bitter question ‘Why do you care so much about those other girls?’ She seemed to choke on his question, snapping in retaliation. “I don’t care about those girls down there, they don’t want to be successful, they don’t want to win at anything, they can prance about in their eveningwear, I want to get somewhere in life... I know, I must sound like some bitter, prudish bitch but it’s true.” He smiled coldly. ‘That is why I asked you. Ambition.’ Suddenly his tone turned a deeper shade of nasty. ‘Do you really think that I want to be recognized from my Father’s wealth? For the pomp and circumstance that my blasted family has borne for me? Maybe the girls that want all that I possess, are not what I want...’ his slow and sincere reply came and then welcomed silence for a small moment. She seemed to feel awkward in his penetrating gaze, and stood. “Come on, if you mean what you’ve said I’ve got something to show you.” He was intrigued, and then slightly appalled when she started undressing, only to be reassured. Before he knew what was happening, she had grabbed his wrist and pulled him along an ever winding passage, finally leading to a window. She pointed out to beyond the hills. Pausing for a moment, looked out too, a look on his face as if he were seriously considering it. ‘Do you really want to go there?’ He muttered, as if the question was casual. With her reply, he took off his suit jacket, pulled off his tie and undid some of his shirt buttons. ‘Then what are we waiting for?’

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Sat Aug 27, 2011 12:43 am

“Seriously?” Felicity hadn’t expected Ludovic to be so up for exploring, she assumed he was going to be just like all of the others who had rich parents and stick his nose up at anything that didn’t benefit him directly or would cause him to get a little muddy; though from the endurance trials she could see that he wasn’t afraid of getting a little messy. As his suit Jacket and tie hit the floor plumes of dust bellowed up, causing Felicity to cough, “Come on then, let’s get out of here.” She headed towards the door and across the open corridor and paused for Ludovic to follow her. Down the rickety set of stairs the pair were back in the normal surroundings of the school, the music from the ball echoing through every stairwell and hallway. With the majority of the staff in the Hall they would have no problem in getting into the grounds. But to be sure, Felicity lead them sort of back route, by the library and through one of the courtyards by the Herbology rooms. The games keeper’s hut was still in sight and had lights on inside but felicity had seen him and he was little more than a drunk who had a good shot, he was useful when it came to keeping to grounds organised but he would be too busy to spot two students in the grounds and was probably too drunk to chase after the pair if he did see them. Edging down the steep grassy banks, Felicity and Ludovic made it to the start of the forest. “Ready?” Felicity drew her wand and kept it in her hand; not knowing what emerged at night but had been told by many teachers that unpleasant things happened in the forests at night, before Felicity had been charging in front of Ludovic, almost leading the way, but as they ventured into the darkness, she dropped back to by his side.

Jacob separated from Amy, now wanting to see if Agni was okay, he saw the elfish boy standing on her feet and was convinced she couldn’t have had a good time with the lad. But as he turned around, he couldn’t see Agni anywhere, it was as if she had vanished into thin air. Puzzled, he walked back towards the door to see if she had gone back outside. But from the corner of his eye he could see Finley and his lips, touching Agni’s. At first he froze, not sure what was going on, his temper was rising quickly, and he was about of blow his top when he saw Agni tear up. He began to walk over slowly, catching the eye of the Scottish boy but quickly looking back to Agni. “Hey!” He called out as things got violent; one of the gossips was just about to be terrible hurt so Jacob couldn’t stand by and watch anymore. He grabbed a hold on Agni and carried her out of the hall and outside to cool down, closing the door behind the pair he sat down beside her and put an arm around Agni. He didn’t understand what she was saying, but she sounded really upset. “Agni...” He whispered, holding her against him. “Shh, Agni, it’s okay...” But he knew too well that it wasn’t okay. His blood was boiling and it was all because of Finley. He hadn’t really noticed how small she was until he was holding her like this; Jacob was starting to feel terrible for making Agni go with him. After a while of comforting Agni Jacob wanted to find Finley, but looking down at his dam shoulder he couldn’t leave her like this on her own. “Come on.” Jacob said softly, helping Agni to her feet, an arm still around her shoulder. “It’s freezing.” Once inside the door he removed the long robe from himself and put it around Agni. “I’ve got to go check on something, meet me in the common room in a bit?” Jacob hugged Agni again. “Leave them all to me.”

“Apha.” Felicity held up her wand, it cast off a small light, hardly visible even in the aphotic darkness of the forest’s depths. The small light faded just as quickly as it came, it was a pointer as it would only light in the direction that Felicity wanted to go, just to make sure that they weren’t going into the lake. “I can’t transfigurate as well as I’d like, isn’t that a speciality of yours, transfiguration?” “Seemed like it during the trials.” But Felicity stopped talking as they reached a thinner part of the forest where some of the night light shone through; she could have sworn she saw somebody. “Did you see that?” Felicity whispered with a Cheshire-cat styled smile. She cut past Ludovic to get a closer look at what it was, stood on two legs it took Felicity a moment to realise that it was a human. “No way...” Felicity looked at the girl covered in blood. She was walking back to the school grounds and Felicity couldn’t resist the urge to follow. “Screw going out there.” She began to follow the girl, Ludovic no longer by her. Felicity kept her distance from the girl at first and noticed she took a back entrance into the school, but she was going down a set of stairs, Felicity assumed that the dungeons must be down there so she wanted to know what was going on. Felicity sped up and followed the girl down. But before she got to the bottom of the stairs she heard a voice call back to her. “Oh. I assumed this was another way in? My apologies.” Felicity then ran back to the top and waited for five minutes before creeping back down the stairs, following the dim firelight, he saw the shadow of the blood drenched girl and frantic rattling, looking around the corner Felicity called in. “What the- what are you doing?”

In his waistcoat and white shirt, Jacob walked back into the great hall with clenched fists; he wasn’t going to hold back on Finley if she could get him outside, he was enraged. Jacob knew how much Agni didn’t want to go to the ball and he was sure he had nearly convinced her it was a good idea. Jacob caught sight of Finley and wasted no time in approaching him. He was surrounded by the girls that Agni had frightened and this just wound him up more. “You owe her an apology.” Jacob said sternly, pushing through the girls, who seemed to have their attitudes. But before Finley could reply Jacob punched him square in the jaw with full force, startling the redhead. The girls surrounding them screamed and backed away, but Jacob wasn’t going to hold back anymore. “You... little... shit!” Jacob was repeatedly punching Finley, his knuckles bloody, Jacob had been hit several times by him but the adrenalin didn’t let him feel a thing. Jacob’s eyes physically darkened, the colour draining from them, he went to throw another blow but his hand was caught from behind him and Jacob was thrown off of the Scottish boy. On his knees Jacob was grabbed by the headmaster and one of the Herbology teachers and dragged to his feet and out of the great hall; he looked to Ludovic who must have pulled him away and then Finley, “Watch your bloody back!” He shouted back, the hall going quieter. Jacob’s shouts could be heard down the corridor but then there was nothing.

Thrown into a chair in the headmaster’s office the man slammed his hand on the desk. “What on earth do you think you were doing Elladora? answer me!” Jacob was calming down, the usual deep blue returning to his eyes, with deep breaths he looked at the two professors stood before him, “What did it look like?” “Damn it Elladora, you could have killed that boy, I should expel you on the spot now, without question!” Jacob smirked. “But you can’t, you know you can’t.”

Cael wasn’t your ordinary hard faced snob; he lived for competition and that adrenaline rush you only got when in the midst of danger. So when Felicity’s offer for adventure proposed itself, he was more than ready for it. He went along with her; she seemed to know where she was going. After what seemed like moments, the cold hair suddenly hit him, he smiled, almost laughing with the sheer briskness and excitement that he could feel clinging on the air. It was as if the forest was calling to him, and he wanted to explore every bit of it. She looked at him, both of their wands drawn “Ready?” he nodded, taking his first step into the forest. He could tell as soon as they started moving that she was holding back, in endurance, she was one of the first to go, but the trials were in the day, where the natural light streamed through the trees. At night it was like a different place. She lit a small light from her wand; of course it did no good, not in the thick blanket of dark that consumed the forest. ‘Transfigure your eyes. Cat’s work best I believe.’ He already had done so himself, morphing his eyes to resemble that of his assumed anamorphic animal the panther. “I can’t transfigure as well as I’d like, isn’t that a specialty of yours, transfiguration?” ‘I wouldn’t say so.’ “Seemed like it during the trials.” She suddenly stopped talking; he had already heard what she was straining to look at, from what he could tell it was human, female probably. “No way...” he spotted the girl moments before she did. It was the one from earlier. ‘Come on, looks like she doesn’t want to be messed with...’ “Screw going out there.” Before he could say another thing she was gone, following after the other girl. Ludovic stood on his own in the forest, looking around. Everything most certainly was eerie. He sighed, deciding to find his way back to the hall.
Agni’s tiny frame was shaking with sheer shock. As an arm was put around her, she jumped, trying to push it away. As soon as she heard Jacob’s voice however she couldn’t hold it in any longer. Turning into him, she grabbed the front of his shirt, twisting it between her fingers as she cried, her face against his chest “Shh, Agni, it’s okay...” she shook her head ‘non ce n'est! Ce n'est pas pas mal, Jacob...’ sje calmed down a little, feeling stupid for crying in front of him, she hated feeling pathetic, which was pretty much all the time. She pulled away a little, her nose a little red and her eyes still sparking from the tears. ‘I’m sorry for ruining your evening...’ she muttered, feeling completely awful. He merely smiled, helping her to her feet and commenting on the temperature. He was right; her skin was almost an icy white with how cold it was and she was sure that hypothermia would set in soon. He walked her back inside, removing his jacket; he draped it around her, which she thoroughly appreciated. She nodded to his invitation of meeting her back in the common room, turning around and walking towards it.

After being thwarted in her second attempt of getting into the ball, Polly decided it would be a better idea to go outside. She couldn’t find Jimmy anywhere, which was never a good sign, so her decision to go somewhere where people weren’t around was very sensible. Just reaching the lake opposite when, suddenly, everything went black.
Polly couldn’t remember how she had found herself in the forest, or how the elk next to her came to be dead, what she did remember was an excruciating pain in her forehead. She woke up screaming, lying on top of a thoroughly dead animal. Backing away quickly, she looked to her hands, they were covered with blood, as was her shirt. Her hair was dripping with the stuff, and she had a large cut on her arm. She was aware that she was still screaming, but it was like her vision was hazy, her head was screaming out in pain but she could do nothing about it. Slowly, things started to get clearer, she stopped screaming, instead violently shaking. The blood was still hot, and the stench of the dead carcass was filling up her nose. Slowly, she rose to her feet, stumbled backward, away from the animal, turned, and began to run. She had no idea where she was however, so running around in the dark was disorientating, especially since she was panicking. Falling over roots and tripping on broken branches sent her hurtling to the hard ground, but she just got up and began to run again. This was until she had no more strength to do so. She sat down on a rock, surveying her surroundings. It was dark, but her eyes soon accustomed themselves to it. She could hear the noises in the far distance of music, and people dancing and laughing. They must have been about half a mile away, but she could hear them. With that in mind, she began walking, more aware this time, still violently shaking, with her bloodied hands held out in front of her. Finally, she found her way to the castle. By the curves of the stairwells and the decreasing temperature, she could tell she was getting closer to the dungeons. The winding corridors were hard to negotiate, but she soon found what she was looking for. At the end of a narrow hallway was a large wooden door, large iron chains were wrapped across it, ending in a rusted padlock that looked like it had been there for years. She almost ran to it, her legs bucking underneath her and her whole body convulsing. Reaching it, she pulled off the padlock as if it were mere candy floss. The heavy chains dropped to the floor and she swung open the doors revealing shelves upon shelves of bottles, herbs, strange ingredients and liquids. She began rooting about them, looking for something specific, however a voice caught her attention. Spinning around to face the girl that was being maliciously ridiculed perhaps only a half hour before, she strained to hold her composure. With a look of a madman on her face, she stumbled toward the girl ‘You don’t understand... I need this...’ the pain in her voice was evident, suddenly, in an apparent change of person, she screamed, clutching her chest and dropping to the floor. Slowly, she looked up, blood soaked hair across her face ‘Hello...’ her voice was deeper this time, and frighteningly different. But that wasn’t the worst thing; her eyes were a milky white. ‘Are you scared...?’ another convulsion sent Polly gasping for air and clawing at her head ‘GO AWAY GO AWAY...’ she looked up to the girl again ‘Help me... please, get out of here just run and ARGH... No... Stay here... I’m terribly hungry... NO! LEAVE ME ALONE! Please... go and get... Laurendale...’ it felt like her head was being ripped apart. She was in desperate need of her potion, or at least a distilled tear from a unicorn to stop the pain. The girl had left, and she was now thrashing about on the floor in pain, the incurable heat consuming her.

It felt like hours of pain until anyone arrived. Only Professor Laurendale had been informed of the potions she needed to take, she didn’t know the full extent of her condition, but then again, nobody did. Cold glass was pressed against her mouth, she couldn’t control her body, her arms were flailing wildly trying to scratch out the eyes of anyone who came near. A curse was used on her to immobilize her body, only working for mere moments, it was all they needed though, she swallowed the mixture and her breathing began to slow, so much in fact that the pain started to slip away. Polly remembered being almost dragged to a room by the girl who had found her and Professor Laurendale. She was sat on a chair, shaking violently with the cold and with the severity of what just happened. ‘I haven’t taken my potion in a week...’ she replied, slowly coming back to her senses. Polly looked up to the girl and smiled ‘Thank you... I’m sorry for trying to... well... thanks...’ seeing that the situation was in hand, she thanked the professor also and assured her that she’d be fine alone with the other girl. ‘I’m Polly by the way. Sorry you had to see me like that.’

Finn stood around with the girls that had just been attacked by the elf. ‘Mental huh?’ he stated as a conversation starter, the girls hurriedly nodded ‘Murderers, the lot of them. Should be shot.’ ‘Animals, just animals.’ ‘I know right? I didn’t even say anything!’ Finn smiled ‘Well, I don’t think she’ll be bothering you ladies again.’ He smiled smugly as he saw the Elladora guy approaching. ‘Got your dog under control yet Elladora?’ he laughed, but the laugh was soon knocked out of him with the first punch that he took. In sheer shock, he didn’t hit back, paralyzed with what just happened, he took another hit. Finley was built like a tank, but with the attacks coming thick and fast he could only take them, especially with the pain of a shattered jaw. He threw a few punches, catching the guy off guard and bruising his eye pretty badly, which only seemed to anger him more. Just as the pain was becoming unbearable, Jacob was on the floor.

Cael found his way back to the hall pretty quickly, but wished he didn’t, coming into the tail end of a fight that Finn was inevitably loosing. Just as it looked like he couldn’t take another hit, Ludovic ran in, catching the guy’s arm and pulling him over onto the floor behind him, standing between him and Finn, his wand drawn. At that moment the Headmaster saw it fit to also intervene. Jacob was dragged away, shouting threats. As soon as he lost sight of the boy, Cael turned to his friend. ‘Finn you alright?’ his mouth was mangled pretty badly, and he was crippled over grasping his side. ‘ALRIGHT MOVE ASIDE.’ Cael shouted, grabbing his friend under the arm and supporting him to his feet.

Agni had changed out of the dress, packaging it back up and instead pulling on an oversized tee-shirt which just skimmed mid thigh. She plaited her hair, removed some of her earrings and made her way to the common room. She had been waiting for Jacob for more than a quarter of an hour, his jacket wrapped around her still (literally drowning her it was so big) She began to get tired, her pale legs stretched out on the sofa in front of the fire, her eyes closed.
Soon after, Agni woke up. Sat in front of the fire was Jacob, just staring at it, not facing her at all. She smiled. ‘Took your time?’ when he turned around however, she gasped in horror, elegantly rolling off of the sofa to kneel in front of him ‘Oh my goodness... What happened...? Jacob... What did you do...?’ She brought her hands up to his bruised eye and bleeding eyebrow, first shaking the sleeves of his jacket away from her hands. ‘Does it hurt... oh gosh... hold on.’ She ran over to the basin in the corner of the room, filling a bowl of water and grabbing a hand towel. She brought it back to him, pulling out her wand and heating up the water. Bringing the damp towel up to his cuts, the wiped at them gently ‘I’m sorry... Gosh... can’t I leave you alone for one minute...?’ she looked down from what she was doing into his dark blue eyes. ‘Thank you...’

Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé on Mon Aug 29, 2011 8:42 pm

The dungeons were far cooler than the rest of the castle; even the firelight didn’t provide enough warmth from them to be comfortable. Felicity had even heard from a few final years that before they started the school that students used to sit detention in the dungeons and one terribly cold winter a group of students were frozen solid; looking towards eerie darkened tunnels Felicity could almost believe the stories to be true. The girl in front of her she didn’t recognise at all, Felicity didn’t know if she was a first year who had just joined or perhaps a third year in one of the our student houses that she couldn’t remember the name of. But as felicity took a step closer something suddenly changed about the girl, “What do you mean you need it?” Felicity stood back just as quickly, the girls harrowing as she leant towards her. “What’s going on?” Felicity drew her want and took a few more steps back; stumbling on the staircase that was directly behind her. Blood was dripping on the floor around the girl and Felicity wasn’t sure whether getting professor Laurendale was such a wise idea, even if the girl was a student in trouble Felicity would be disciplined for being on restricted areas of the school grounds. But finally Felicity’s conscience (and a hint of fear) got the better of her and she scrambled up the stairs and towards the great hall. To Felicity’s good fortune professor Laurendale was just outside of the hall. “Professor Laurendale!” Felicity shouted, running over to her, the rather un-amused professor looked to Felicity but didn’t say anything. “There’s a girl in the dungeon, acting strange, she asked for you personally.” Suddenly Lucinda went a whiter shade of pale and gestured for felicity to follow her. The pair ran into the dungeon to see the girl on the floor in near fits of pain. “Good heavens!” Lucinda cried, throwing open the potions cupboard and pulling out exactly what was needed in a matter of moments. “In the name of... why didn’t you call me sooner!?!” Felicity tried to say that she hadn’t had a clue what was going on until she asked for her, but as Lucinda immobilized the girl and gave her the quickly thrown together concoction that seemed to do the trick for now.

“Come on Miss Moran, help me get her to my office, I think we may need a little chat...” Felicity obliged, hoping that with extra efforts to help she wouldn’t get a disciplinary letter sent home; Felicity was one to bypass rules, but recently her mother was ruling with an iron first by threatening her to stay at the school over the Christmas period. Lucinda and Felicity picked up the girl and with one of her arms on each shoulder they managed to get her to Lucinda’s office where they sat her down in a cushioned chair. Felicity looked around nervously and half smiled as the girl spoke, “It’s no problem, uh really...” Felicity had made up her mind that the girl was American, she had American-Irish relatives over there but had never spoken to an American before. Lucinda quickly steered the conversation. “Now, Miss Moran, there is the task of explaining to you what you just saw; but seeing as the outcome is not catastrophic, I will leave that to Polly in her own time once she has recovered from tonight.” Lucinda raised an eyebrow, sitting on the edge of her desk, looking in the eyes of one of her albino snakes. “There is the question of why you were near the forest and the dungeons in the first place...” Felicity slipped into the conversation quickly, her strong attitude resurfacing. “I was only going for a walk Professor, no harm in walkin’.” Lucinda let the snake out of its cage and up her arm. “But the area is off limits to students unsupervised, especially at night. There a unheard of things in these forests Felicity, things that you yourself cannot handle, I saw you in the endurance trials and you were powerful and determined but reckless too, that will get you into trouble.” Lucinda sighed, “But, seeing as all things turned out for the good, I am sure I can turn a blind eye to it this once, you did Polly here a great favour. You can run along Miss Moran, I believe we have potions tomorrow morning.” Felicity was only too happy to be on her way. Lucida turned to face Polly. “So, tell me about how often you are taking these, we can’t have this happening on a regular basis.”

Jacob walked out of the headmaster’s office to the sound of commotion as Finn was being taken away to the hospital wing of the school. He hadn’t seen how badly he had hurt Finn; whenever Jacob got that angry it was as if he blacked out; the darker side of him coming out in full swing. He looked at his bloodied and bruised knuckles and knew he would regret what he had done in the long run but for now it showed Finley a lesson that Jacob was convinced he couldn’t soon forget. A gust of wind reminding Jacob he didn’t have his robe which reminded him that he had given it to Agni and that she was waiting for him in the common room. He rushed up the Thrisdin tower to the common room and quietly opened the door; it looked like Felicity was asleep so Jacob watched the fire for a while, the heat soothing his already bruising eye and bloody nose, he lost himself in the fire for a while, watching the patterns it made; so much so that when Agni spoke he jumped a little. “It’s not as bad as it looks, really.” Jacob sat down beside her by the fire and let Agni have a look at the damage; he didn’t want to go to the hospital wing with Finn there. As she brought up the warm towel Jacob flinched, the bruising feeling very tender. “Like I said...” He smiled “I wasn’t going to let anyone ruin your night.” Jacob flinched again “I’m not normally this sensitive to...” Trying to cover the fact that what punches Finn did throw were shockers, and had tenderised his face. “Thank you, for doing this... I would have probably just gone to bed like it... bad idea huh?” After a few minutes of silence Jacob stood up. “Come on, it really is late and we both have lessons tomorrow... potions again first I believe... then Herbology, but that’s all I can remember. Come on, I’ll walk you to your dorm.”

Lucinda watched the students pile into the great hall the morning after the welcome ball with a knowing expression on her face as she drank her tea. After what had happened over the course of the evening she wanted to see how people were going to react in the day, she had been filled in on the incident in the hall itself between a first and second year and wondered who the first year was; she didn’t need to be told who the second year was.

Jacob sat down by his friends but he wasn’t as engrossed in their conversation today. He was more concerned if Agni had heard what had really gone on in the hall; how he had taken Finn down and continued to beat him, in fact if it wasn’t for his friend Jacob was convinced he could have done Finn serious and rather permanent damage. But on the positive side he also thought that perhaps he and Agni would be left alone by Finley now. But as he ate his toast a jeer from up the table caught his and a great deal of other people’s attention. ”Hey it’s the shade boy, Hey shade boy! I’ll take you on! The table erupted with laughter. ”Haha yeah! Shady! Following in your family’s footsteps!?! Jacob ignored it the first few times but with each jeer his blood began to boil. He looked over to Agni quickly to see if she was laughing along too but quickly left the hall before he got angrier. Pacing the hallway outside Jacob had to take a few deep breaths. He wasn’t going to stand for the taunts, his sister never put up with it. He decided not to go to potions but sit in the headmaster’s office and drink a murky blue liquid; he’d return to Herbology after.
