The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Felicity grumbled and sighed as she flicked through her potions book, Friday was the only day that she had two potions classes in a day; she would have preferred it to be earlier in the week, to get it over with but sat nearer to the back she knew that whenever the two lessons were she would argue against it. Whilst no one else had arrived yet Professor Laurendale stood over Felicity and had her write down all of page references in order to catch up. "I would like nothing better than to allow you to spend your study lessons resting Miss Moran, but when the school opens its doors next year to your parents we don't want you to be behind." Felicity didn't agree and grumbled again as she stared blankly at her desk. She had completely forgotten about that, the thought of her parents storming into the school was enough to make Felicity feel ill. She could just imagine her drunk of a father stumbling in, cigar in one hand, the other reaching out for her mother who would notably be five foot ahead and criticising everything, the pair commenting on Felicity’s appearance, work and etiquette; her parents wanted a boy and nothing she was ever going to do would match that ruined expectation. The sound of murmurs and stark laughter coming from the door ay made Felicity pick herself up and look at her work books, but that distinctive Scottish accent stopped Felicity from even doing that. ‘’I’m alright, thanks.’’ Felicity shrugged as Finn sat beside her. Felicity could just about bear Finn; he was a good hand In divination and Felicity could see that it was rubbing Ludovic up the wrong way and that was a great bonus. She still had her suspicions about him and what happened the day before, she realised then that Fin and Ludovic hadn’t walked in together, or at least weren't sitting together. Felicity looked Ludovic up and down briefly before Professor Laurendale started their second lesson.

"Good afternoon students, as you are aware of the potions that I have set for you over the next few weeks I feel that this lesson requires little of an introduction, but just a reminder that I implore you to be careful when using these smaller cauldrons,’ They were resting upon the desks, opposed to besides them ‘You are able to sit whilst using these but It does require more care, as not to spill what you are working on…and also to use the tools provided with care, only last lesson I had a student sent to the infirmary wing because…” Felicity zoned out, she wasn’t concerned about other people’s injuries and she had no clue about what was going on in the lesson, Professor Laurendale hadn’t written anything about the potion that Finn was preparing. Slightly biting her lower lip Felicity leant over him slightly, a hand resting on his upper thigh for support. “Um… Finn, do you mind if I just watch you make your potion… I’m a little…lost.” She smiled first at Finn then down and away. To anyone who didn’t really know Felicity it would have looked very much like she was infatuated with Finn, but all she could wonder was whether Ludovic was watching her; she wanted to make him Jealous beyond all belief; she was certain that he wouldn’t find her attractive to went along the route of ignoring him and becoming engrossed with his closest friend. She didn’t feel sorry for Finn either her, he wasn’t her type in the slightest, he was just as arrogant as Ludovic but lacked the sort of intelligence that Felicity sought, if he had half a brain he would have seen this sort of thing coming. “Ah, yeah… you’ll have to, you know, run this over again with me, just to make sure I understand it…”

Jacob sat at the front of potions with Agni, jumping at the chance seeing as Finley was preoccupied with another girl. But the only difficulty was that Jacob was also unsure of the potion they were making. “Well, I’m sure it’s some sort of tincture?” Jacob held up a small bottle of clear liquid that had a faint shimmer. “I … I don’t know anymore.” Jacob looked down at the desk with a beaming grin and couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m not laughing at you! It’s just that we’re stressing over the wrong potion.” Jacob looked over his shoulder Jacob changed the page to what looked like the right potion. Jacob took a deep breath, “Well…” He had slept well the night before and for the first time in a while had some life about him. “Well I have a free lesson next before Animal care…” Jacob didn’t want to ask her if she wanted to spend it with him; for all Jacob knew, Agni would be practising potions with Finley, he looked over his shoulder to where he was sat; Agni didn’t deserve a slime bag like him. Felicity watched Finley make his potion and had to bite her tongue most of the time, he was doing little things that annoyed her, just the way he was preparing the ingredients, it wasn’t the same way or same style that she would. “I haven’t got any study lessons today, tonight? I can’t.” Felicity had to think on the spot; she wasn’t explicitly trying to avoid Finn, she had to meet someone that night to get a hold of the alcohol that Polly needed. “Yeah, maybe then.”

Felicity picked up her books and quickly left the lesson as Finn was still storing the remainder of his ingredients, she didn’t want to be followed to her Charms lesson. Felicity hated charms with a passion. She had always practised her defence and didn’t have to think about it but with charms she had to stop and think about, it wasn’t a matter of not being able to cast a charm, Felicity was overly conscious about her ability and it affected her performance. But it was only for an hour, she had defence after and her specialist class would cheer her up. Walking into the large classroom Felicity’s heart sunk to see Ludovic at the front talking to the professor, she had avoided the class for so long that she completely forgot the discussion about him being one of the assistants. And to add insult to injury Larissa was there, giggling away and flicking her long blonde hair, Felicity turned to the door but she had already been seen by her professor who insisted she stayed for a change.

James could hardly remember anything, but as he came around he could see a few hazy lights and a figure in front of him. The tension he had been holding all of a sudden released and James was sent flying to the floor from his bundled upright position. “I am so going to…” But before he could finish his sentence James fell asleep on the classroom floor, blood still crusted around his mouth as he dreamt of how he had gotten into this mess. He had been sat there in his classroom over lunch; she had a free lesson straight after so was having a break before marking. He had asked the Moran girl in first year to come by to complete her Ovomancy assessment but instead he has been greeted with a far more pleasant surprise. “Ah, come in.” James smiled, it being all to convenient that she arrived now. He stood, inviting her into his classroom, she practically lit it with her presence, and even in his semi conscious state James was still sure his dream did not do Polly justice. “I saw you and…oh yes.” He had been cut short. The rest was a little hazy but he next remembered his shirt being undone, that kiss, even in his sleep that kiss was divine, until the sharp pain of her unusually sharp teeth awoke him. “James? James are you alright? What’s happened here?” One of the Herbology assistants was stood over him with an open book, trying to cool his fever, he had forgotten the rest of what had happened and could rightly say what he could remember. In too much pain to move he just lay there for a while and shook his head. “Who knows at this school…. Who bloody knows…”

Felicity couldn’t get out of the classroom faster, she felt humiliated in front of Ludovic as he just smirked at her nervous attempts, there was no way she was returning to that class again. She didn’t lend too much thought on the lesson once she was out in the open air, she had somewhere to be right away, not in the mood for Defence she skipped that too, making her way down to the edge of the lake where her friend was already waiting, “You got it?” She said bluntly, obviously not in the mood to play any games. “Yeah, here.” Felicity handed over a vial of a pale blue liquid that she had stolen from a potions cabinet in exchange for the three flasks that she cleverly hid under her robes. The pair didn't waste their time and instead parted quickly, Felicity headed towards the great hall to eat. She had an astronomy test to study for later and had to make sure the alcohol was hidden until tomorrow night. But as the hall filled with students and Felicity sat to eat her dinner she noticed how snow was beginning to fall outside; it was a sure sign of winter arriving which lead to the thought of going home for Christmas, her parents had insisted on it, but it would hardly be a Christmas, Felicity would have been glad to stay in the school, at least there would be decorations.

Jacob hadn’t seen much of Agni after potions in the afternoon and at dinner he was caught up with friends quizzing Sam over what he had been getting up to with Polly, it was fruitless conversation; Sam going red and refusing to say anything, wanting to be a gentleman for her. Jacob just laughed at the thought, as attractive as she was she didn’t seem the type to him to attract a gentleman. He looked down the table to where Agni would be sat but couldn’t get away to go and find her. He felt bad for not talking to her so much during the day, but if she was going to be hanging around Finley he would have to keep his distance. Tucking into his ribs Jacob assured himself he would go and see her later, his thoughts were however disturbed by a commotion on the Somery table. Perry stormed into the grand hall after having animal care with an expression to rival an angered god, ’I do NOT believe it!’ he cried as he fell into his seat dramatically, not giving his friends a moment to question him. ‘There I was! Looking at this beast of an animal and...and...ugh! It spat at me!’ A dark haired girl sat nearby smirked at his reaction. “Perry it was just a horse, and they don’t spit like that.’ ‘Lavender! I’ll have you know that it did spit at me and if our professor doesn’t sort this out I swear that I will...’ ‘Do what? It’s a horse...’ ‘Oh! None of you understand me! It was traumatic, the thing has practically ruined my new jumper, I shan’t be going to that class again, no sir! Who wants to care for animals anyway? Don’ we pay people for that? Am I right Finn?’ Perry laughed and nudged Finn playfully as the dark haired girl again commented. ‘Yes, but what do you think the rest of these people are going to do once there graduate?’ The table erupted with laughter as Perry concluded. ‘Yes it would seem more appropriate for them all just to live with the demorfis.’

Later that evening after meeting with the Escorial team Jacob climbed up to the Thrisdin common room to find Agni, he had forgotten whether she was going to the party tomorrow and he also needed to set something straight for her as well as himself. Sure enough after a bit of searching he found her. “Oh, hey.” He walked over and sat beside Agni, opening a book and trying to look a little less edgy. “What’re you up to?” Jacob nodded along, trying to understand but granted there were quite a few things about what she did that he couldn’t quite get the grips of. “I just wanted to uh... say sorry for last night, if I... acted out of terms?” He didn’t want to use a colloquialism in case it came across differently for her French. “I just... I don’t know.” Jacob smiled but couldn’t quite look at her; he felt stupid in front of a girl for the first time that he could remember. “I well...” Jacob went to place his hand on hers when a group of his friends barged it and grabbed Jacob’s shoulder. “Jake! Jake you gotta hear this!!” He pulled him from sitting to the other side of the common room and back down the stairs. He could have kicked himself. It was late by the time his friends has searched all over the inner grounds for 'some escaped thing' and Jacob didn't bother going back into the main common room to look for Agni, if she had decided to sleep in there he didn't want to wake her up. He would have to wait until Polly's party the next day to see her. Both the Thrisdin Escorial and endurance teams were practising tomorrow, the endurance for a match after the holidays (deciding to practise a little earlier after their severe loss to Somery). Jacob wanted to be ready for Finn next week before the end of term, he was going to take him down.

Cael glanced over to where Finn was sitting and it suddenly clicked, he thought that he had caved her head in, that he had hurt her deliberately for some stupid payback or something. He stood up, his hands flat on his desk, gripping onto it. ‘Professor may I leave a few minutes early?’ His voice was strained, as if trying desperately to control his temper. He held a glass vial up in the air ‘Yes I’ve finished, I need to leave… a little early. Please.’ With her nod of approval he gathered his books in his arms, flicked his hair off his face and left the room. As soon as the heavy oak and iron door shut behind him he screamed with outrage, flinging his books across the hallway and against the stone wall. He stared at the wall, breathing heavily with sheer anger, even his best friend hated him because of that manipulative bitch, and he wasn’t going to stand for it. Finley on the other hand couldn’t believe his luck, he had his old pall Perry back, a hoard of girls after him and a party on the cards. He did however find a strange discomfort in falling out with Cael, but still, it was his own fault.
Agni had potions first thing in the morning, she was late for breakfast so decided to skip it all together and run straight for potions, once she was there, she smiled to see Jacob sat in his normal seat, absentmindedly tucking her hair behind her ear (which of course fell out again due to the thin, silky nature of elven hair.) ‘Good morning Jacob.’ She smiled, sitting down in her seat and putting her books down on the scorched desk. ‘Did you sleep well?’ she smiled of his answer ‘no, of course not.’ She pulled on her jumper sleeves; it was a pale colour, making her look even paler. ‘Do you have any idea what we are supposed to be doing?’ she asked, looking at him with large eyes. “Well, I’m sure it’s some sort of tincture?” ‘oh.’ She muttered, straining to read the tiny scribbles of Finn’s handwriting in her textbook. Before she knew it, he was laughing spontaneously, she looked up to him with a frown on her face. ‘I did not say anything marr… funny…?’ he carried on laughing a little, she couldn’t help smiling at seeing him laugh, it was infectious. “I’m not laughing at you! It’s just that we’re stressing over the wrong potion.” she watched him fold over the page and giggled a little ‘this is probably what I have been doing all of the year! I still do not understand your English numbers.’ She began measuring the ingredients out carefully when he mentioned his free lesson. ‘Oh yes, I have a free then too. Maybe we could meet up?’ he nodded and waved his hand somewhat distracted, she didn’t notice however, too brimming with joy over the fact that he said yes. ‘Ah, out by the stables then? I will see you there!’ The lesson ended quicker than she thought it would, with them exploding various glass vials and scorching a few spoons and laughing all the while, she couldn’t help but feel happy.

Cael had walked immediately to the lower charms classroom. He had been told that he would gain extra credit by tutoring some of the lower levels, and would therefore be able to train a little longer for duelling. He was in there early, putting away chairs and kicking over tables to the edges of the room, he was already panting by the time the Professor entered. ‘Ah! Mr Whitehall, glad to see you already warming up. We will be showing them simple Opius charms today, I believe you wrote a certain dissertation on the derivatives of said charm?’ he nodded, his hair ruffled and shirt buttons undone. ‘I did sir.’ ‘Perhaps you could show us some of your discoveries?’ Cael smiled ‘I would sir, but I think we are in too small of a space.’ ‘Of course of course. AH! Here they are come in come in! Take your places, back in here miss Moran, quickly!’ Cael kept his head down. Unfortunately, it didn’t help. ‘Good morning everyone, welcome to your last charms lessons of the year!’ a cheer rose up to the prospect of Christmas holidays, Cael wasn’t so happy, his parents were staying with his brother for Christmas and he wasn’t planning on attending, instead staying at Astoneara on his own. ‘Now, for a bit of encouragement, I’d like you to welcome England’s three times under eighteen’s charms champion… Mr Ludovic Von Whitehall.’ The room clapped, a few of his friends jeered and whistled, he stood out from the corner, batting his arms down with false humility. ‘Please, it’s nothing.’ The professor didn’t seem to think so, rambling and raving about his various achievements before setting the class off in a few simple charms. Cael was planning on sitting in the corner and silently grading his peers, however those plans were scuppered when Larissa waltz into the room late, as per usual. She waved him over and he had to spend the whole lesson giggling and listening to her every word, he couldn’t help but let his eyes wander over to where Felicity was sitting. He smirked at her frustration, she obviously wasn’t a natural at charms. The lesson ended and she left the room quickly, his eyes followed her. ‘What are you looking at Darling?’ ‘Nothing.’ He mused, she turned his face towards her ‘Was it the Moran girl? Terribly unfortunate girl. She could do so much more with herself if she wasn’t so ugly.’ She laughed in that delicate high pitched way that she always did. Something awfully malicious behind it. ‘She’s a team member. I’d think twice about insulting her if I were you.’ He growled, walking off without her.

Agni stood out in the cold grass by the stables, it had just begun to snow, and she looked up, smiling. She loved the snow, it was so white and clean, she spent most of her time in it during the winter. The snowflakes rested on her face, melting instantly with the warm temperature of her skin. She hadn’t been waiting for him long, but had started to listen to the soft braying of the creatures in the stables. ‘move over will you?!’ ‘give over you oversized pigeon!’ ‘I am a Pegasus not a Pigeon!’ ‘oh whatever!’ she giggled at their conversations. As well as having a knack for tending to plants, she had the unusual talent of being able to talk to animals. An unusual talent even for elves.
Agni stood there for what seemed like hours, until her small frame was completely blanketed in snow, she shook it off herself, cold and sad, the tears frozen on her face. She shook the snow from her thick furry boots and went to walk inside the stables. The animals looked up to her as she entered, wiping the tears from her face with small sniffles. ‘What’s up boss? Your man not turn up?’ she ignored the black winged horse, instead walking to the end and sitting on an upturned bucket, her head in her hands.

It was the end of the day, and Finn was sat in his usual place in the great hall chomping down on whatever was within arm’s length when he saw Perry flounce in the room, flicking his floppy hair off of his face. He listened with a smirk to the turn of events described by his friend. ‘Are you sure it wasn’t a llama?’ he said after his flap was over. ‘A Llama I said… they spit, horses slobber.’ His comment was seemingly lost on the boy. ‘How would I know? My father has one on the f…’ a subtle cough from across the table reminded him of whom he was around. ‘On the estate…’ he tucked back into his bowl of cereal. He was so looking forward to Christmas, it was always a riot in his house, they shackled up Cindy the farm quarter horse to a makeshift sleigh and rode around the ice loch’s, the kids mercilessly screeching and cackling with delight. Not to mention the amount of snow there was where he lived up in Scotland. They didn’t have much, but what they did have was special, and he hated having to hide it.

Polly’d made her way up to her room sometime during the middle of the day. She was feeling rough, dog rough. She hadn’t seen a single spirit all day which was good, on the downside, she was starving hungry and every first year was starting to look like a Christmas dinner. It was freezing in the castle too, she wasn’t used to it being cold, having lived in California for the past year. She was sat in her room, shivering through a huge Russian furry hat, unconceivable lengths of hair wrapped about her neck, four pairs of socks, two jumpers a pair of jogger bottoms and a duvet wrapped around her. Her nose was pink and her eyes watery. She had thrown up at least twice that morning and felt like doing it again. She only hoped she’d be okay for the next evening.

Agni had stayed in the stables for three hours, the first two hours spent making sure all the animals were comfortable (with added fits of tears) and the third hour was spent watching a silly boy get spat on by an alpaca. She went up to the common room without dinner, she wasn’t that hungry anyway, but had a munch on some tomatoes once she was up there. The whole of the common room had been transformed into a winter wonderland with all the seasonal flowers blooming about the place. Nobody had any complaints, in fact everyone loved it. The tips of her ears and her nose were red with the cold. She was dressed in a huge knitted Christmas jumper, one her grandmother had made for her a few years ago. You couldn’t see an ounce of figure underneath it; she looked like a sack of potatoes with a pair of skinny bare legs poking out from under it. She had her glasses on and was engrossing herself with grafting an olive tree one of the older students had asked her to. She was just bout finished a branch when she heard Jacob’s voice. She didn’t reciprocate his greetings, instead trying to finish what she had started. ‘I am trying to graft this ceremonial branch into this tree so they grow together as one. It is for Dean in the fourth year, a present for his soon to be fiancée. “I just wanted to uh... say sorry for last night, if I... acted out of terms?” she looked up to him, pushing her glasses back up her nose. ‘Excuse me?’ “I just... I don’t know.” she sniffed. ‘Well, come back and tell me when you do know Elladora.’ He was about to say something when his yob-like friends ran over and dragged him away. She glared at him as he left, he didn’t even realise what he had done, and he had left her, in the snow, for a whole hour and didn’t even remember! She was very angry with him and promised herself that she wouldn’t speak to him all day tomorrow until he apologised for leaving her out there.

Polly woke in the morning with a splitting headache, she remembered possibly passing out on a bottle of Jack the night before to try and drown her sorrows, but was suffering now. The party was in the evening and she had to catch up with several people to make sure they were doing what they had to. Dressing in a large green parka, a pair of dark jeans and a huge pair of sunglasses, she left her room ready for the morning.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Tue Dec 20, 2011 9:43 pm

Jacob woke up later than normal on Saturday, he decided to use Agni’s sedative again and this time it had done an excellent job, so much so that for a while he lay under his bedcovers with a half smile; he wasn’t covered in cool sweat and hadn’t fallen out of his bed in a panic once. But he remembered that Agni wasn’t speaking to him and sighed, he couldn’t remember what he had done, if he had done anything at all. Either way he would find out later before the party but for now he had some Escorial practice to do before their match next week before the last day of term. Not bothering to shower before the session was unlike Jacob but he was late and needed to get down onto the pitch with his team within the next twenty minutes or else their reservation would be given up. Still getting dressed as he ran through the common room Jacob managed to catch a glimpse of Agni as he ran past, it reminded him to speak to her later. He met the rest of his teams members gradually through the halls and all of the young men and the one girl on the team were out on the pitch on time. “Guys, today we are going to practise our second half technique, you all know what that means, grab your brooms.” Jacob was aware that flying lessons didn’t start until the middle of the next term so decided that newer members of the team needed a little extra coaching in order to keep the pace of their performance through the match. “Now, when chasing the opposition you really need to this way.” Jacob demonstrated on his broom by curving downwards and anticlockwise. “From here you will need to the jut up in front of your opponent, it gives the whole startle effect. I guess team up and give it a go on each other, so long as you don’t wall off and injure yourselves.” The team laughed and set off on their practise, determined not to draw again.

Perry had made an executive decision in his application that his ensuite should accommodate a bath for just such an occasion as this Saturday morning. Instead of going to breakfast that morning he woke up and spent the first few hours of the morning relaxing and listening to the latest on the radio. Charming the water to keep its temperature he begrudgingly got out his small paradise into the harsh winter air. As the snow started to fall nowhere in the school could really shake the cold but Perry was oddly used to the temperatures from his travels and could bear it. Being his first weekend at the school he decided to seek out Finley who always knew how to have a bit of fun. Perry didn’t want to regret going to the boarding school so was eager to see what was going on before the holidays where he would no doubt be somewhere warm like the Caribbean. Getting dressed into a pair of well fitting jeans, a dark shirt and a man cardigan all was left to do was style his hair and find his red headed scot and seize the day!

Felicity however was up and at breakfast at normal time, she had to keep on top of her exercise and training. Now the weather had taken a turn for the worse she had moved onto a bowl of plain porridge and some blueberries as she was going to need the energy to face running in the snow. She wore a thermal set of running wear but it wasn’t much good, the temperature had to be well in the minuses and it was still dark outside; undeterred she planned to do three or so laps of the school. Only managing two and a half, Felicity succumbed to the arctic weather and decided to get changed and wait for the sun to rise properly before attempting any charms practices. The school was unusually quiet for the time that it was and even the common room was a little bare. Felicity got back into her pyjamas for and read for a couple of hours until the sun had come up and was breaking through the horrid snow clouds. Then she finally got dressed, utilising layers; her first was a long sleeved black jersey maxi-dress with a grey cowl-necked jumper on top of that followed by a dark jacket. Several pairs of tights later Felicity was ready to brace one of the school’s courtyards and practice the awful charm that their professor had given them the day before. Along the way Felicity saw Polly who was looking a little rough. “Are you okay?” She shrugged. “It’s bleedin’ cold t’b’sure but it looks like y’comin’ down with something terrible…Alright alright.” Felicity shook her head a little, not one to argue with Polly. “Yeah, it’s already up there; I put it in one of the old open telescope cupboards last night, behind some cracked lenses, all fine.” She nodded and let Polly be on her way, hoping she wouldn’t comment on the fact that apart from her hands and face she was completely covered. Pulling on a black wide brimmed hat Felicity pushed the heavy oak door into the open courtyard wand in hand. She wasn’t going to let the Opius charm get the better of her; yesterday she didn’t manage to get any result but after reading about it in the morning she had a better idea of what to do. The very thought that she had to go away and look it up herself made Felicity mad, her parents were paying for a sufficient tuition and there was nobody on hand to help, ’tey were all t’busy with t’eir girlfriends…’ She didn’t know why it bothered her so much. She didn’t even like Ludovic, let alone want him sneering at her struggles. With a clear head and after a few flashes and back fires Felicity was getting the hang of the charm, just in time for her to notice that her fingertips were going purple; but the satisfaction of overcoming that blasted charm helped her ignore the cold.

Jacob had to call the practise off early, the snow was getting too heavy to the point that he wasn’t able to see some of his players when the wind picked up. “Good job guys! Rein it in; see you in the changing rooms!” Jacob was just as quick as anyone else to scramble into the hot showers; there was a simultaneous sigh of relief and it suddenly took the entire team at least half an hour longer to get clean. Jacob groaned as he wrapped a towel around his waist and went searching for his clothes; with his blood colder than the average wizard he had only just warmed up and didn’t want to lose his body heat. But as usual there were a few girls prowling the unisex changing area. A little uncomfortable with his nakedness Jacob felt a little vulnerable “So did you know there is a party tonight?” A black haired second year asked him “Um, yeah?” Jacob tried to discreetly put his shirt on “Want to meet me there?” “Uh yeah…okay? Can I get dressed now?” The girls giggled and suggest him not to before leaving the changing rooms. He felt a little uncomfortable about it, he remembered just then that Agni was going to go with him but then she was being off with him anyway. Every so often Jacob wondered what it would be like not to have to deal with girls for a while; but he quickly concluded that it would be too boring and would have to deal with thins as they came. For now he was going to have to find Agni and see what was up.

Perry wandered through the halls still not able to navigate himself about the school without getting a little lost. He on the occasion asked one of the upper years whether they knew where such and such would be but they either looked at him funny or shook their heads with sarcastic grin which he found most unhelpful. With a dramatic sigh and a hand through his articulately designed quiff he stormed on until he found Finn with a group of friends, “Finn! Oh Finley!” He chirped with a laugh, ignoring some of the strange looks he was getting; they were poorer than him and because of that not really worth his time. “Come with me!” Perry grabbed a hold of Finn’s arm and they started walking. “I want to do something with you, it’s my first Saturday here and it’s nearly the holidays so I will hardly see you until the New Year! So... we have to go and have some fun before we desert this awful place, the only way I can live with this cold weather is the fact that it’s snowing!” After moment of quiet he had given himself an idea. “Let’s go out into the snow! Oh I’m probably going to the Bahamas for Christmas, this maybe my last chance...” Perry did enjoy being dramatic. “Oh you’re the best! Come on let’s go!” The pair missed lunch they were out in the snow for so long, Perry enjoyed catching up with one of his childhood friends. But he also noticed that Finn hadn’t really spoken much about his family or what he was going to be doing. “So Finn, how’s your father’s work going? You haven’t really spoken much about…” Perry’s attention was quickly taken by the sight of an eagle flying overhead “Hey!” Perry felt the whack of a snowball against his Jacket and then the snow crumble down the back of his shirt. “This means war!” Perry scrambled to make as many snowballs as possible and throwing them at Finn, half of the time they missed but those that hit Finn gently crumbled over his shoulders, unlike what he was being hit with; it felt like a sphere of ice. The fight ended with Perry falling into a drift at the hands of Finn. "Okay! Okay I give up!"

“Agni?” Jacob had managed to find his friend but she still wouldn’t look at him. “Agniii…Come on, what’s up? What’s going on?”He didn’t know her to play any sort of joke but perhaps this was a French thing, he looked at her with a raised eyebrow. “What have I done exactly?” But a group of girls came past squawking and he couldn’t hear her answer, he wasn’t too sure if she spoke at all with her not looking at him. “Whatever.” Jacob liked Agni but he wasn’t going to be messed around like this. He shrugged and left the vicinity to find his friends and try to enchant a few snow sculptures and make them fight again like last year.

Felicity couldn’t spend much longer outside, even after shaking the snow off of her clothes and sitting by the common room fire reading he couldn’t shake her chill and felt awful about it. She didn’t have a cold but hated being cold. As usual she was going to get so sympathy from any of her peers so decided to suck it up and focus on her book which even itself was enough to put her to sleep, but it was required astrology reading and she wasn’t going to fall behind in her first term. She contemplated leaving her work until the holidays as she would have nothing to do but that was in itself the perfect time to get in some extra training hours. Before she knew it, it was time to Dinner and one of the Endurance team, a fourth year knelt down by her with a grin “Fancy going to eat something? You’ve been sat there all afternoon.” Felicity didn’t know whether he was being euphemistic about something but she followed him anyway, not asking his name as she didn’t really care for now. “Sit with us.” Felicity had walked past the fourth year and turned around a little bemused. “Sorry?” “Well you know, considering we are all on the endurance team, we could talk, I don’t know… tactics?” Felicity shrugged again, not too bothered about where she sat until she noticed how she was in fact right next to Ludovic on the other side of Larissa, she kept quiet, only really looking at Finn on occasion, wishing her meal away. She was so angry at Ludovic, Finn had it in her head that Ludovic had been the one to put her in the infirmary wing and then he had the nerve to show up at her bedside with over the top flowers and then mocking her in charms whilst sliming over his cheap piece of arse. She tightened the grip on her cutlery considerably.

It had been lights out for a few hours and the whispers were just going around about the party actually happening, Felicity had already met Polly in the astrology tower who still wasn’t looking too great but she assumed that she would feel better later. Jacob was going to wait for a little bit longer, half hoping that Agni would come and speak to him but then remembering the girl he had absentmindedly agreed to talk to later on, he thought that maybe it was a good idea that she was avoiding him. Felicity had yet to see Finn, she wondered If he had forgotten but then she didn’t care if he came if Ludovic didn’t, it was all for effect and she wasn’t going to just get off with Finley for laughs. As more people arrived the tempo soon kicked itself up, the alcohol that had been smuggled in was being passed around nicely and everyone was getting a little tipsy. It looked like everything was so far going to plan.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Thu Dec 22, 2011 9:09 am

It was early morning when Cael woke; he had planned to go out into the forest to look for some creatures he could walk through. Skin walking was a tabooed subject even in modern times, his powers were kept under lock and key by his parents but it was a natural habit that he couldn’t contain, he often walked through the family animals which wasn’t taken lightly. All animals were eradicated from the estate and his sleeping patterns were monitored. However, as soon as he was old enough to realise that he was different, Ludovic dedicated himself to become a master of his skill.
Out in the forest, it was unnaturally dark, like a blanket of darkness had shrouded the place. Thankfully for him however, he wasn’t just a skin walker. There was a very rare mutation of the skin walking gene which meant the witch or wizard could not only possess the body of any specific creature, but after they had done so, they possessed the ability to imprint on that animal with their own bodies and change their own forms. Cael weaved through the trees with ease and speed, reaching almost inhuman speeds; he was fast, really fast.

Finn on the other hand woke around mid-day, his weekends were spent for sleeping, eating and partying, not for exercise, he would get enough of that when he went home for the holidays working on his dad’s farm. Lazing about for another hour or so, he finally rolled out of bed, making his way down to the common room in just his flannel, tartan pyjama bottoms and a white cotton tee-shirt. Flinging himself over the arm of a sofa and spreading out with a sigh he planned on sleeping for the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately before long, he was surrounded by a group of people telling a story. ‘And then, this fire breathing Dragon jumps oot from under the Loch and…!’ just as things were getting exiting, people on the edge of their seats, girls grabbing onto each other and biting their nails in anticipation, Perry walked right into the magic, scattering the particles of coloured imagination and washing the story away. “Finn! Oh Finley!” the group of around twenty people groaned, glared and threw scrunched up pieces of paper at Perry as the image of a giant horrific dragon dissipated. ‘Perry, wat’re’ya…?’ as the smaller man grabbed his arm and dragged him away from the crowd of people. ‘Yooh Canna’e just drag me away li’e that lad!’ he protested grinning. The truth was he could do with getting out for a while; he was getting tired from using his storytelling to entertain other people.

‘I hate this godforsaken place…’ groaned the leggy adolescent teen into the toilet bowl. She had been throwing up since she woke in the morning, her cold was a little worse and she was tired. ‘Oh I can’t be dealing with this… ugh…’ just as she started throwing her guts up again, there was a knock at her door ‘Ugh… Come In!’ she managed to garble out before another chunk of something came out her mouth. ‘Good Morning Polly! I thought I would come and deliver this package that came for you this… oh my goodness! Are you okay!?’ Polly groaned as the little elven girl ran over to her to try and help. ‘No, get off stop fussing I’m fine…’ ‘Well you don’t look fine to me.’
Agni had spent most of the morning brushing her hair in the common room; it was a task in itself seeming as she had so much of it. She spotted Jacob in the morning and he came back down to talk to her later on, she was less than impressed seeming as it was him who had forgotten to meet her, and more than getting upset when he snapped at them, she was furious, it was him in the wrong and not her, so she decided to go and see Polly who always seemed to know what to do, unfortunately she wasn’t in the best of sorts. ‘Was it something you ate?’ ‘The food is bloody enchanted you squealing idiot!’ ‘Alright! Zut Alors! I was only trying to help… Oh Hello!’ Polly turned around to see the Moran girl at the door. ‘Fantastic, the damn cavalry’s here.’ Agni frowned at her ‘Are you coming to see Polly? She’s not very well.’ Polly turned around from being hunched over on the floor to look at Felicity ‘Have I had my Potion? Oh… shit…’ the other girl grumbled, disappearing from sight for a moment before coming back with her medicine bottle clasped in her fingers. ‘But I don’t wanna take it. The part is tonight and if I take it…’ ‘Then you will most probably get better and be fine… just do as… as this girl says…’ it struck Agni that she didn’t really know the other girl’s name, whilst Polly was drinking the horrid looking potion she stood and held out her hand. ‘Bonjour. My name is Agatcher. Thank you for helping my friend.’ She was being very bold today, perhaps it was from her confrontation with Jacob earlier. ‘How are you feeling Polly?’ Polly’s head was down looking at the floor, but she was looking healthier. ‘That was disgusting.’ Agni laughed ‘Good, now, I came here to talk to you…’ it was obvious Felicity did to. ‘I really need something to wear for tonight!’

Finn must have been playing outside in the snow with Perry all day, because the next thing he knew, it was getting dark. With Perry surrendering after topping over from a brush of the arm into a snow drift, the pair decided to walk back to the great hall to see if there were any scraps left. They were walking back side by side through the snow. Finn glanced over to his friend and smirked at the stupid grin he was wearing. He looked ahead again, but bumped into him. ‘Whoops.’ He muttered, holding his hands out in apology. After a brief moment or two, he did it again. ‘Whoops.’ And then again ‘whoops.’ And again ‘whoops.’ Until both of them knew what was going on. Reaching the hall, it was evident that they wouldn’t be serving any more food, which was a bummer for Finn seeming as he hadn’t eaten anything all day and his stomach was growling like an angry bear. The two said goodbye and promised to meet up again at the party. Soon enough however there was a knock at his door. Finn grinned ‘Alright Perry, what do you want no… Oh, it’s you.’ Cael glared at Finley ‘I didn’t do it.’ Finn stepped away from the door to let him in. Cael walked past the Scott, standing in what looked like the only square of floor that wasn’t covered with rubbish or filth or both. ‘Why would I care about her enough to do that? Why would I care about a person like that?’ Finn shut the door behind me. ‘You know what, I don’t care.’ ‘And I d… what?’ ‘I said I don’t care. If you want to lie to my face that’s fine, just don’t talk to me about it.’ Cael swallowed, he would have to put up with that kind of solution for now. ‘Right well. See you tonight.’

Polly sat on her bed looking at the two girls stood in front of her, her long spindly legs sprawled out in impossibly strange directions. She was feeling so much better for taking the potion, but was just unbelievably sketchy; she kept scanning the room for jimmy, praying that he’d be around somewhere. ‘What do I think? Hmm…’ She stood, walking around Agni. ‘Luckily for you, you can pull off scraggy old jeans and a tee shirt… I despair with you…. YOU however…’ she moved over to Felicity. ‘Beautiful. Yep. Good choice by the way with the shirt. Wow…’ Agni popped her head around ‘The skirt is really nice on you Felicity, I wish I looked like you…’ Polly raised an eyebrow. ‘Oh shut up moaning molly. God you’re so annoying I mean… you could look like her if you would bother to wear something like…’ ‘I’ve changed my mind. I like my jeans.’ Polly laughed ‘Yeah that’s what I thought. Right, you look great, love that skirt, you look… like Agni… now get out! I’ve gotta get ready, I’ll meet you up there in a bit.’ They left and she sighed. ‘All this hair.’ Looking at herself in the mirror, her eyes sparking and her soft hair shining in the dim light of the candles in her room. ‘Time for the scissors.’

It didn’t take long for Polly to be ready, she was too used to getting ready in a hurry from being turfed out of ex-boyfriend’s houses and various motel’s. She dressed in a simple tee s
hirt dress and black heels, a leather jacket over the top.Stepping out of her room, she was literally shaking, it was a bad sign, but she had learnt to ignore it. Climbing the stone staircase leading to the astronomy tower three stairs at a time (due to the length of her legs) she was eager to find out what Felicity had managed to lay her hands on. Walking into the room she smiled ‘Well howd’ya know. Out did yourself here babe.’ Looking around the room it hardly looked like an astronomy tower at all anymore. ‘You’ve put some work in here!’ It wasn’t long until people started arriving. Polly spent most of her time telling people to quieten down for the moment, she hadn’t charmed the place for light and sound simply because she didn’t know how. She was so relieved therefore that somebody turned up that could help her. ‘Larissa, hay honey, so glad you could make it.’ Larissa narrowed her eyes ‘what do you want.’ She hissed quietly so nobody could hear through her pearly white smile. ‘Cool it bitch, just a favour to ya know, get this party started. You’re a second year right? Fancy putting a blanketting charm on this here room?’ The other woman looked at her as if she were dirt, although, it was always hard looking down on a person when they were so much taller than you. ‘I am an alchemist, not a magician. If you’re really desperate go and find Ludovic, he’s done a few I think.’ Polly’s mouth curled in a victorious grin ‘Thank you Beta.’ ‘What?’ ‘Nothing.’

About ten minutes earlier, Whitehall had dismissed Larissa under the grounds that he did not need to be escorted to a meagre party by a meagre woman. He was still in his room, looking at himself in the mirror. ‘I can’t wear this…’ he grumbled, looking at the third outfit he had tried on. Pulling the tee-shirt back over his head and folding it nicely into his trunk again, he put back on the first thing he’d tried on. Walking out of his room another fifteen minutes later wearing a pair of purposely distressed jeans and an impossibly crisp white shirt, he breathed a sigh of relief. Apparently Felicity was feeling at the top of her game again if she was organizing some party with the yank. He couldn’t figure out whether to bring something or not, wine, music, flowers. He frowned at himself for being so foolish, fretting about how he looked or if he should take something just because a few women were going to be there. He was pretty sure that they would all gush over him whatever he was wearing anyway. Finally reaching the door, he was almost bulldozed back down the stairs again by the American. ‘God!’ he spluttered wiping his mouth from the royal snog he was just submitted to. ‘When will you stop doing that!’ Polly giggled ‘Just happy to see you is all frat boy. Do me a favour will you?’ he started backing away ‘Uh… I thought you were taken, where is he…?’ She laughed loudly, grabbing onto his collar ‘Don’t be silly, I just want you to do some magic.’ ‘Whoa whoa whoa!’ just as she was about to eat him alive, Larissa stepped in. ‘I would appreciate if you kept your filthy halfblood hands off of my boyfriend.’ Polly stopped and turned slowly, her teeth bared in an aggressive smile ‘I’d watch who I was calling a halfblood if I were you Princess, wouldn’t want out pretty reputation dragged through the mud would we?’ the other girl tensed before addressing Ludovic who was taking care to keep his face as far away from the shark as possible. ‘Just… she wants you to settle a blanket charm over the room. Do that for me will you Darling?’ He frowned ‘I… I’ve only done small blanket charms not on a whole room I don’t think my w…’ ‘Just… just do what she want’s… Darling.’ Ludovic looked between the two of them before nodding his head, which quickly led to him being released by the cougar.

Finn had arrived pretty early for the party, if he was going to drink then he was going to get bladdered, and if he was going to get bladdered then he was going to have to drink a hell of a lot; He was a Scott after all. Thankfully, Felicity was already there. A beer in hand and his best white tee shirt on, he sauntered over to her. ‘Tell yooh waht…’ he waited for her to turn around ‘smuggling all this in must’ay’been some military operation’ he took a long drink from his bottle, holding it up to the light when he was done. ‘Ye Can’nae beat a good beer.’ He looked her up and down, an amused smile on his face. ‘Looks like ye can’nae beat a good seven beers.’ She was tipsy, at the least, just how he liked them. ‘Maybe yooh should sit down?’ He saw her face as Larissa walked in. ‘Say, can we put one music oon?’ his efforts were seemingly exasperated as she went to get another drink. Grabbing another himself, he sunk down on top of one of the wooden crates pushed against a wall, sighing. Being caught unawares, he jumped at the sound of Perry’s high-pitched voice. ‘Lord… wat’re’ya sneaking up oon me lie’k that lad! Ye damn’neer killed me! Auch…’ he grabbed his hand on his chest like he was having a heart attack, grinning a little at teasing him. ‘Yeh been’ere long?’

Ludovic, after rolling up his sleeves, attempted to put a blanket charm over the room. After trying a few times, he was satisfied with what he did, and when he said satisfied, he meant that it would probably hold, maybe… if nobody walked through the door… or breathed. He was well and truly leashed, after he had done, he was roped into standing with Larissa and her friends, talking about him and his house and his summer house and his stables and his money and her money. He wished he had brought a bottle of wine, or a shotgun.

Agatcher sat in the corner of the room sipping some tomato juice through a straw quietly as people arrives, her large eyes scanning the room, the faces. Finley walked in the room and straight over to Felicity. She was happy that he found somebody to pest other than her. When Jacob walked in the room, she sat up a little straighter, wanting to ignore him completely, unfortunately she found it difficult to be angry at people for very long. Just as she was about to go over to him, standing up with her glass, another girl walked over to him, hanging off his arm like an unwanted jacket. She frowned, looking down into her drink a little sad. Just as she was about to go and sit down again, somebody touched her, she looked up to see the smiling face of Elliot, the fourth year who had clumsily danced with her at the welcome ball. ‘Oh… Elliot yes?’ he grinned ‘Yeah! You remembered my name! Cool, cool man.’ She laughed ‘You sound surprised! I am an elf, I remember things well.’ He smiled ‘Oh but I thought you were half elf?’ she giggled ‘Yes! See you remember too!’ The pair went back to sit on the crates together, chatting about this and that, not much but his foolish jokes made her laugh a lot, and it turned out that he didn’t drink much either. They looked a funny pair, him with his cropped blonde hair and hers, long and hanging around her shoulders. ‘I thought you were with the shade boy.’ She flicked her eyes over to Jacob. ‘You should not say things like that Elliot. It isn’t nice.’ He paused ‘so, you’re not?’ she looked over to him ‘no, I guess I’m not.’

Cael watched Larissa as she walked across the room to Finn and Felicity, they were together again, he hated seeing that, he deserved a whole load better than her. As tensions began to rise, he felt the need to step in. ‘What’s going on Greene?’ She turned around, her hair flicking round with her. ‘I came over here to get a drink and this… thing started attacking me.’ Finn stepped forward ‘She’s perfectly justified Lara. You do look like a horse.’ ‘Oh shut up Finnegan.’ ‘MY NAME IS FINNNNLEEEEEYYYYYYY!’ He sang, clearly very drunk by now. ‘Just sit down Finn.’ Cael sighed, however Finn had always been an aggressive drunk ‘Yooh can’dae’nae tell mee to sit daoewn boy! Look at yooh and yer horsey woman! Come back to me when yer a real man yer pipsqueak! Goin round picking on this here woman!’ he slurred, swinging his arm over Felicity and spilling his larger over her a little in the process. ‘He couldn’t have done it you stupid oaf! There’s a damn charm on the female showers!’ Cael looked down to Larissa with a confused scowl. ‘Nobody mentioned the showers Greene…’ she began to panic ‘I mean, it’s common knowledge now isn’t it… everybody knows…’ before anyone could step in, Larissa was physically assaulted by the Irish girl. Cael grabbed Larissa as she was about to retaliate however she had other ideas, slapping him off of her to get at Felicity. Ludovic stepped backward, his feather’s a little ruffled by the revelations. ‘So… what’s going on…?’ the slurred Finn muttered watching the two women fight stood next to his best friend. ‘I think Larissa just admitted to knocking out Moran…’ he took a sip of his beer, Finn laughed, slapping Ludovic’s back, causing to him spit out his drink with the force of it. ‘I knew yer did’nae do it lad!’ At that moment, an almighty scream was heard from the corner of the room.

‘Hay kitten?’ Sam looked down to Polly who was sitting hunched over shaking. He dropped to his knees ‘God Pol… what’s wrong? Too much to drink?’ She laughed through it ‘Huh. I wish…’ he dropped down to sit next to her. ‘Do you need anything?’ She stood, wobbling a bit, ‘Kitten, I’m… I’m f… going to get a drink.’ Pulling off her heels and throwing them to the floor along with her leather jacket, she walked towards the table filled with drinks, however made a turn and headed to the door. She felt like she was ready to die, she was hot and disorientated, her head was banging. She burst through the door, stumbling down the stairs until she hit a window alcove, sitting on the ledge and looking out into the night sky.

‘Agni… hay Agni…’ Agni looked up from her conversation to see Sam, Polly’s boyfriend. She stood with the worried look on his face ‘What is wrong Sam? Are you okay?’ ‘Yeah yeah I’m fine.’ He gushed ‘It’s Polly.’ Agni looked around for her lengthy friend, ‘But I do not see her…’ Sam whined ‘Oh God… She was looking rough a second ago, I mean like ill, not rough, she never looks rough, but she was ill and then she said she was going to get a drink and she didn’t come back.’ Agni frowned ‘well maybe she is just talking with somebody.’ He shook his head ‘No, no that’s just it, I’ve looked for her in this whole place and couldn’t find her… I mean, fifteen minutes is a long time to be gone.’ ‘Maybe she has gone forgotten something and gone back to her room?’ ‘I don’t think s…’ before he could even finish his sentence, a huge noise came before a scream. The whole room seemed to stop breathing, everybody turned towards the door which was no longer there, it had been thrown off its hinges and where it should have been, was standing a huge creature, filling the whole of the doorway. It was about nine foot in height and might have been ten if its back wasn’t hunched over, it had a short muzzle, shorter than it perhaps should have been if it was completely animal, but it was evident it wasn’t. Its horrible shape was terrifying even to look at; it installed fear into the students just by looking at it, a daemon or being from hell. It stood on its hind legs looking at everyone with its crimson eyes, and then it moved, dropping on all fours and attacking the girl stood in front of it. Panic pursued, Agni, frozen with fear was left by the people around her as they scrambled for safety. It was horrible, yet hauntingly beautiful at the same time, she couldn’t move. It was at that moment that the creature turned, another student’s blood dripping from its ravenous jaw, slowly, it began walking towards her, nobody stood in its way as it mercilessly batted people aside, spearing them on shards of broken glass or taking chunks from them with its claws. Agni closed her eyes; she could almost feel its breath on her face. The next thing she knew, a whole new sound erupted from the door. Professors piled into the carnage, first dumbstruck by the indescribable scene that lay out in front of them, then spells were fired across the room at the beast, sending it howling in the other direction, running from the room and down the stairs, followed by some of the staff. ‘Alright everyone. Back to your dorms IMMEDIATELY!’ The words of the Professor causing people to move, escorted by their head of houses, out down the stairs.

Agatcher opened her eyes, finding herself on the floor, terrified and unable to move. Tears were in her eyes but she daren’t let them fall, she was in shock. If the Professors hadn’t of come in when they did, she could have died.

Cael grabbed onto Felicity’s shoulders as they were filed through the doors, he wasn’t going to admit it, but he was shaken up. They walked down the stairs in silence, none of them saying anything. He was safe in the knowledge that Finn was with Perry and Larissa, not that he cared much where she went. Reaching the common room, he didn’t stop until she was in her room. He looked at her, his brown eyes scanning her face for any inkling of fear; he didn’t want to leave her on her own if that was the case. He was about to tell her so when another group of girls walked in, with the surety that she was safe, he left for his room. Sitting on the edge of his bed in just his jeans drinking some whisky he had managed to get from his father, he couldn’t bring himself to sleep just yet. A knock came at his door and he nearly jumped out of his skin, wand drawn. ‘Put that down man, it’s only me.’ Finn walked in, dressed for sleep in a pair of cotton bottoms and no shirt. He sat down next to Cael. ‘Sobered up then?’ Finn nodded. Ludovic passed him his flask, which he gladly took and drank from in silence.
Outrageous.
Outrageous.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Mon Jan 30, 2012 10:44 am

Felicity placed out the last of the smuggled alcohol with a smug grin. It hadn’t taken log to decorate the place because she know that everyone got drunk enough it would all be torn down and thrown up on; not that she really minded, she intended to be one of them. The tower was silent with just her in there, sitting on a crate she opened her second beer and waited for Polly to arrive. As she did Felicity couldn’t help but notice that she was looking very rough but she wasn’t going to say anything about it, she would have come if she were ill too. “Thanks, it didn’t take too long though, one of the few charms I can do properly.” Felicity shrugged and leant back against the wall, her beer nearly gone already. Felicity stood when Polly walked off to the other side of the room, she tended to stay around the drinks as it tended to be where the fun happened, she could tell when Finn entered that tonight wasn't going to be an exception; as he wandered over she grinned. "hah, perhaps, if you were twelve." She had always been good at hiding things like alcohol from her parents, "Yeah, more along the lines of seven...maybe eight." Felicity could handle her drink to an extent, but Finn had to be nearly double her size, she knew very well that he could probably handle his drink better than her but that wasn't going to stop her opening the next.

Jacob had spent the evening in his private dorm so far, not used to going to too many parties, he tended to avoid them where he could, and drunken girls didn’t do it for him at all. But seeing as Agni was going he was determined to make the effort, even if she wasn’t speaking to him still (which he still couldn’t understand why) perhaps she would speak to him if he didn’t look tired and pale, but the only way he would do that was by avoiding black or grey… the majority of his wardrobe. After a while rooting through his still unpacked trunks Jacob found a pair of stonewashed jeans and had to compromise with a black tee shirt. He brushed his hair back a little but otherwise he was ready to go, just had to avoid the few teachers running around. Girls were giggling in the common room whilst painting each other’s nails and still trying to get ready, once he climbed the tower’s stairs Jacob began to hear the slight whispers of the party, someone must have charmed the place earlier. He grinned, not thinking of that himself. Opening the door he was greeted by the rather grim looking face of Polly. “Y...you alright?” He was quickly shot down. “Yeah, stupid question.” Jacob let her past and closed the door behind him, the room was pretty packed, and he looked around for Agni but couldn’t see her anywhere. Before he could look any further however he was ambushed by the girl from before along with a few of her friends, she grabbed his arm quickly, offering him a drink. Jacob looked uncomfortable but tried to laugh it off.

Perry had spent the time since parting with Finn in the bath and getting ready in style, after his rosehip and dittany soak was the long task of putting together his outfit whilst he straightened his hair. He decided for a pair of black skinny jeans, impossibly tight of course, a pair of slightly informal dress shoes; designer, and a dark red button shirt, the sleeves rolled up half way. “Perry my good man…” He cooed in the mirror, spraying his quiff back “You look to die for!” He laughed and stood, straightening his shirt before shuffling his way towards the party, a small bottle of cherry gin in his hand for his own personal use. Once inside he ran straight towards Finn and shook him with both hands, enough to shake a little of the beer out of his bottle. “Ha! Surprise Oooo Finley? Are you alright? Oh, I know, I’m great. How long have you been here?” He laughed at asking the question at the same time “Just got here, going to grab a cup for this anyways, back in a mo!”
Felicity turned back to Finn with another beer in her hand when Larissa pushed Felicity, her eyes narrowed. “Woah there, let’s let the horse to the watering hole.” Laughing a little at her own insult, “You heard me Larissa, you buck toothed slut.” Felicity took Larissa’s shove in her stride and was about to reciprocate when Ludovic came over which made Felicity want to punch her even more. Ignoring the two bickering until Larissa openly admitted to what had happened a few days previous then Felicity went in for the kill, making Larissa the deserving recipient of one of Felicity’s better right hooks, sending her nearly tumbling to the floor if it weren’t for Ludovic. A few hits and Larissa was on the floor with Felicity straddling her, beer still in hand Felicity poured it down her dress with a devilish grin. “Now piss off!” Felicity stood up a little flustered but the sound of a scream grounded her to look the other way. It was Polly, Felicity began to walk over but she left the room, she shrugged and went back to the party, she looked over her shoulder to see that Finn and Ludovic had made up which irritated her slightly but she was too tipsy to really care.

Jacob had just about enough of the party when the Astronomy tower door practically flew from its hinges a few feet into the room, the entirety of the party froze in fear, Jacob’s eyes were wide open in shock and partly fear, he had never seen something like that in the flesh, if that was that it was even made of. The moment he saw Agni Jacob had his hand on his wand and was about to leap forward if it weren’t for the other girl trembling and gripping his arm too tight for him to quickly get through the crowd. The teachers had arrived and drove the creature away, but everyone was too terrified to move. After being instructed to leave Jacob hid behind a cupboard and waited for it to just be Agni left. “Agni!” Jacob knelt down to her side. “I… oh shh.” He stopped her speaking, not wanting to hear her angry at him, he just wanted to make sure she was safe. He pulled her to her feet and walked her towards her dorm, in the common room there were quite a few girls shaken and teary but he just kept his attention of Agni, making sure she was physically in her dorm before leaving. He wasn’t going to try and say anything about before or why she was upset with him, he just wanted to make sure she was safe.

The shock of it all had sobered up Felicity completely, she would never had said but she was quite frightened by what happened, she didn’t even comment on Ludovic’s hands on her shoulders, she just wanted to get back to her room. Stood next to her bed, Felicity turned around to Ludovic, she didn’t look frightened or in need of comfort but she equally hadn’t told him to leave, the just stood there in silence for a moment before some of the other first years wandered in, unable to fully comprehend what happened. Like that Ludovic was gone leaving Felicity to sit on her bed, still not sure what had just happened, but sure enough she was able to change and go to sleep.

Perry had grabbed onto Finn so tightly that he was certain that there would be bruising, he didn’t let go of his forearm until they were in the common room where several people grabbed Perry to gush over what had just happened, the school was alive with rumour and gossip, it was clear that there were going to be few people sleeping well tonight. No one knew what the creature was, some claimed it to be a werewolf but many said it was far too hellish to be anything than a demon, something too terrible to name.

The morning came around quickly and many people were still up from the night before, but Felicity was rudely awoken by a sharp cry from professor Laurendale. “Get up!” Felicity bolted upright, getting a head rush and nearly falling back into her pillow. “Yes miss.” “Miss Moran, get dressed this instance and got to the headmasters office immediately!” There was no leniency in her voice so felicity begrudgingly pulled herself out of bed, chucked on some clothes and ran her hands through her hair, being pulled along by her sleeve through the common room with a grin plastered across her face. She caught the eye of Ludovic before she was pulled down the stairs towards the headmaster’s office. She had to be in there for the good part of two hours before she was allowed to leave, she had a week’s detention where she would be missing dinner and a tightened curfew of six in the evening to be in her dorm, not that it had bothered her, no one knew that a bloody beast was going to crash the party, but it seemed people were still uneasy. Making in time for the end of breakfast Felicity watched the head master walk in and give more details. “Last night, one of the lesser known creatures of the forest found it’s was into the castle and up to… well… as I am sure the majority of you are aware, a party was going on in the astronomy tower, I cannot stress to you all that anything like this is not tolerated and strictly prohibited, but most matters have been taken care of, the creature was sent back into the forest and those involved in organising the event have been made accountable, so I would like you all to enjoy the end of your weekend before lessons resume tomorrow, the last week of term before your holiday breaks.” Felicity wasn’t hung over and was managing to keep down a slice of toast, looking around her and people looking a little worse for wear. After her disciplinary speech she was finding it all a little funny, but was concerned where Polly was, she couldn’t see her anywhere.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:59 pm

The soft foreboding chill of the wind flowed through the forest the morning after the night before. No birds were singing as the musty light streamed through the trees overhead and made delicate patterns over the bed of pine needles and snow on the ground. Curled under the breeched root of a pine, a naked form shuddered from the cold of the winter morning. The patch where she lay was clear of snow, but not of frost as her body glistened with the covering of ice from the night before. If walking in the forest you would mistake it's broken whimpers for that of a wounded animal, but as you approached you would see the arched shadow of a spine appearing through her lightly tanned skin and her bruised ribs. Soon Polly's whimper's were joined by the sound of tiny padding feet wading through the snow towards her, she opened an eye ant turned her head around, only to see the small wrinkled face of her familiar. She smiled through the pain and stoked his hatted head before scooping him up into her arms and hugging his warm hairless body against her for a while before rolling up onto her knees, her palms out flat in the snow. She spat the blood from her mouth (inevitably not hers) into the crisp white snow, before slowly raising to her feet with effort and reaching for her gnarled wand. It was a special wand adapted to her own physical limits, if she went somewhere, it would always return to her, even if it had been confiscated, it would still be close by her side. She constructed her clothes from the night before from thin air, they were torn and battered, but fixing them up a little so it was modest yet believable. She slipped them on and with a pained limp, made her way, barefoot back to the castle.

Agni woke in the morning in a strange room, she had become so used to sleeping in the small stock room that was now filled to the brim with flowers that she hardly recognized her own dorm room. She sat up and was greeted by the two first years that had spoken to her in the common room a few days ago 'We thought it was you Belle!' 'We thought maybe this bed was empty but then you turned up with Elladora last night.' the other girl smiled 'Were you at the party?' Agni's brain was overloaded with information 'I... what... uh.... oui....' 'You're French? Oh cool!' 'I told you she was French' 'did you?' 'yeah!' The elven girl then felt the need to but in at this point 'Excuse me but... who are you?' The girl's looked at each other 'I'm Sarah.' 'And i'm Lucy.' 'And we're your room-mates!' Agni smiled 'Twins?' the girls nodded They talked a little more for the rest of the morning and then went to breakfast together seeming as Polly hadn't rolled out of bed. Agni assumed that she was either in bed sick or in the headmaster's office with Felicity. When the headmaster sat down after his speech however, it was evident something had happened to her.

Cael sat down at the breakfast after his shower, his hair still wet and girls cooing all over him as the water dripped down his neck, wetting his shirt to his skin underneath. Finn sheepishly approached his friend. 'Don't worry about it.' Cael muttered just as the redhead was opening his mouth. Finn grinned and sat down 'You're the best man.' Cael smirked 'I know. Let's not mention this again.' He ate his breakfast quickly and sat patiently waiting for Finn to finish, which would take quite some time. As he waited, he spotted Perry and Larissa coming towards them, excusing himself from the table, he stood, only to be interrupted in his leaving. 'No Cael wait...' He turned himself around with venomous fury as she dared to speak to him. 'You drag my name through mud Greene, You maliciously injure my team mate and try to manipulate me with your wiles. And for what, jealousy? You think that just because our families have been intermarrying for years that I would even look at you twice?! You disgust me Greene. Do not try and approach me again.' He turned and walked away. Standing, with graciously loud applause, Finn stared down the girl, the room soon joined Finn in clapping. Finn couldn't help but noticed the disappointed look in Perry's eyes as he insulted his best friend.

Agni's eyes flicked from the action at the top of the Somery table, to Felicity, she liked Felicity, even if she was scary. According to Sarah and Lucy, Polly was intimidating, but she found that difficult to believe. Standing after eating a whole bunch of white grapes, two apples and a stick of celery and promising to meet the twins later for lunch, she walked towards one of the side doors of the main hall, before she touched the handle however, the door flung open on her and a gruesome image tumbled down to the floor. 'Polly? Oh My Goodness Polly! Help!' The room turned to look where Agni was shouting out for help, Polly had collapsed at her feet.

Cael was close to where the elf was at that time, so he was able to run over and help, she was supporting her head already, but he had a louder voice 'Will somebody grab a professor!?' he bellowed, before turning her attentions back to the girl. 'Yank hay yank, wake up will you? Come on it's Frat boy, wake up for me Ephemera...' From across the room Sam stood, his eyes glazed over as he saw the action unfold, his friend's stood with him.

'What happened Miss Epheremra?' Polly furrowed her brows, the light shining in her eyes to check her pupil dilation blinding her. ‘I’m awake already, quit shining your wand in my eyes…’ she batted the nurses wand away with a bandaged hand, only to be confronted with a hoard of professors. ‘Whoa… this isn’t a civil war now is it?’ ‘Answer our question Miss Ephemera.’ She couldn’t figure out who was speaking at first, she was still feeling sick, but she caught eye contact with James for only a second before looking away. ‘I… I was going back down the stairs from the astronomy tower, and I was feeling sick y’see so I was going back to my room and this… this thing… it was horrible, it came up towards me, and it batted me against the wall and winded me, so I couldn’t scream, it threw my wand away from me and toyed with me some more and then, it must have heard something because it ran off…’ the professors all looked at each other. ‘Madame, are these wounds … consistent with Miss Ephemera’s story?’ The nurse shook her head in contemplation ‘Well, your arm is severely burnt… and the slash across your eye seems to be magically wrought…’ The room looked back to her. ‘Burn huh? Like a friction burn? Maybe it was the wall I don’t know, it’s still pretty hazy…’ she brought a hand to her head dramatically. ‘Miss Ephemera…’ ‘Hmm?’ she grunted opening an eye again. ‘This still doesn’t explain why you were missing this morning.’ ‘As I said, I must have passed out.’ ‘I don’t believe I heard you saying anything about…’ ‘Well maybe you should listen more often.’ ‘Miss Ephemera. May I remind you that you are still on a formal caution from your last episode. I hope you are still takin your potion, it’s just, a few of the students described the creature as daemon-like. I hope your mistake didn’t cause a near disaster…’ it was one of the potions teachers speaking. ‘How… are you seriously suggesting I put students in danger? I mean… that’s ridiculous! If you don’t believe me ask Miss Moran, she made me take my potion.’ ‘Your comrade in arms?’ ‘Fine then, ask Miss A Belle… ah, there you see… I deserve an apology.’ The room was silent for a moment as they all contemplated her fate silently. ‘Luckily for you Miss Ephemera I think that your injuries are punishment enough. Good day.’ They left her alone

A few days later, it was time for the death match. The air was buzzing with Christmas excitement, but Finn hadn’t let that be an excuse for missing training. They were only a little better than the beginning of the year, but he hoped that his extra training would just tip them over the edge. Everybody had gathered in the snow covered stalls of the old abandoned knest pitch to watch. Cael was with Finn, for extra encouragement, but also to keep away from Larissa who had been giving him death-stared since he had publicly humiliated him. ‘Now, I don’t want you to do anything stupid but, if you can annihilate him, please do so fairly.’ Finn laughed, clapping a hand around his friend’s shoulder ‘That’s why I like yooh mate, make everything sound so damned posh. I can’nae dare say I will batter him today, but I will try my damned best to aggravate the bairn.’ Cael grinned ‘Right, well I’d best be getting out there. Good luck.’

Agni had been sat in the common room for an hour, she was only there to make sure that Polly wasn’t alone, but as she had insisted on her being alone in her bedroom, there wasn’t really much choice in the matter. Felicity came to visit once or twice. Agni sat quietly and smiled every time she did, completely outraged that the blonde Somery snob had intentionally sabotaged her health. Being so engrossed in her herbology textbook, Agni almost didn’t notice the sound of crutches sneaking past her, until they knocked into a table. ‘Shi…’ ‘Polly! Where are you going?! You are supposed to be resting!’ Polly frowned ‘And you weren’t supposed to notice.’ Polly’s arm had been bandaged from her thumb to her shoulder due to burns, and she had a leather eye patch on to minimise scarring. As well as that, she was forced to wear crutches and looked almost like a pitiful sight if it weren’t for the terribly annoying fact that she pulled of the invalid look wonderfully. ‘You’re not planning on going outside are you?’ Polly looked down to her scarf ‘Agatcher, honeybunch, you can’t expect me to stay in here, when there is a fully fledged death-match going on in the abandoned knest ring can you! I mean, I can see it from the window! And by the looks of it, things are going to kick off!’ Agni stood up, placing her book on the table ‘Kick off? Who are playing?’ ‘Oh come on, you don’t know?’ Agni ran to the window and nearly fell under her own weight as she saw Finn and Jacob fighting tooth for nail out on the snow covered pitch. ‘Rumour is it’s all over some girl…’ Agni grabbed her cloak and boots ‘Come on.’

‘COME ON THEN YER FILTHY SHADE! DO YER THINK SHE WOOULD WANT SOMETHING PAETHETIC AS YOOH EH?’ Finn’s team were trying to hold him back, the game had turned into a brawl, the balls had been cast aside and wands ignored as it began to get violent. ‘YOOH WOULD’EH LOVED TO HEAR HER SCREAMING EH? SHE FORGOT ABOUT YOOH, YE CAN’NAE SEE BOY HOW SMALL YEH ARRE!’ Without warning, the other team couldn’t hold the shade any longer as he bowled down the Scott. The Somery team backed off too, it was getting bloody and vicious looking. Cael watched from the sidelines , glancing over to Felicity once or twice, but nothing noticeable. He was never one for brawls, he preferred to sort quarrels out eloquently. However, when the sound of Finn’s nose breaking (again) and strangled whispers of the shade overpowering him, Cael stood, and everything became serious. From across the field however, a commotion was taking place.
‘Don’t be stupid Aggs! They won’t hear your puny little voice! Let them fight this out! Geez girl.’ Polly muttered. Sam looked down to the blonde who was getting increasingly riled ‘Yeah mate, they’d snap you like a twig… No No WAIT!’ Before anyone could stop her, Agni was running out onto the field. The whole wring watch with baited breath as she drew out her wand.
‘Perstutio!’ a green shot of light erupted from the end of her wand and ripped the pair apart. Winded for only a moment, Finn sprung to his feet again, only to be confronted with the elf. ‘Princess…’ ‘SHUT UP! ‘Ow Dare you speak about me like zis to Jacob! Incroyable! Tu PLEASANTS FINLEY! I am disgusted in you, you are a filthy… lying… COWARD!’ with each adjective she pounded his broad chest with her fists, her sheer rage causing him to back down. ‘Kitten I don’t know what you’re…’ He stopped with a sharp intake of breath as she pulled out her wand and jabbed it in his face. ‘Shut up!’ she heard a small snigger from behind her, and turned to face Jacob, ‘You think zis is funny Jake? EH? Ze bug strong man being taken down by ze pathetic petit femme eh? Zut Alors! Tu est… ugh, you make me so… so angry Jake! Why do you get so jelous of zis Queke eh?!’ She was angry, her wand spouting dangerous looking sparks every so often, but in her eyes, there was a kind of sadness, like she was holding back tears. ‘I never EVER want to speak to EITHER of you again! D’accord!? BON!’ with her last word, she slapped Jacob hard across the face, sending a hollowing crack echoing around the pitch. She stormed off, wand in hand, back to the common room.
‘Salut Peaches! Ca’va?’ ‘Papa?’ Agni’s sniffles through the water message were still heard clearly by her father. ‘Whatever is the matter mon petit pois!’ ‘I want to come home. Right now.’

Finn waited until she had completely left the pitch before standing up. He faced the Elladora boy again, but this time, after being taken down a peg or two. ‘Uh, look mate…’ he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. ‘Sorry for winding yooh up liek… I never touched her… She… Wow…’ he grinned, watching the direction where she had left. ‘She’s all yours! Crazy Bitch.’

After all the excitement the past few days, it was time to say goodbyes. Polly sat on her own in the common room as people around her hugged and kissed, promising to meet up. She felt horrible after just having dumped Sam before Christmas. He cried, she hated it when they cried. But at least he could get on with his life. Besides, she was staying at the castle anyway; it wasn’t like she had any family to go home to. She was reassured however in the feeling that Felicity wasn’t going home either and that at least she wouldn’t be completely bored out of her brains.

Cael looked to his best friend and smiled ‘Will yooh come fer a day?’ Cael shrugged before being punched ‘Okay, sure, I’ll come for a day. Only if you’ve got me a present though.’ ‘Is the loch cold in winter?!’ ‘Excuse me?’ ‘Yes I’ve got yer a damned present man!’ the boys embraced each other before Finn left for the deformi train station. Cael had received a letter that his parents were going to visit his older sister Eleanor in France for the holiday’s and he had no intention of joining them, especially since her new fiancée was too much of a tool to handle for two weeks. Going back up to the common room, he wondered what he would do to entertain himself while everyone was gone. It had sure been an interesting term.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Wed Feb 01, 2012 7:05 am

Perry hadn’t stayed in the hall after he saw the way that Finn had humiliated his best friend like that, only looked at him glumly with a slight raise of the eyebrows. He didn’t understand what the whole fuss was about Larissa possibly hurting some Irish girl anyway, a full blood or not it wasn’t as if Larissa had hurt someone who really mattered. He sighed and decided to go back to his room and start on his packing. Larissa and her family were staying at Perry’s house in Paris for a week or two, which meant that most of Perry’s clothes were going home with him just in case such an occasion should arise that that he might need a pair of black sequined gloves or a pair of gun metal shoes.

Felicity stood as Agni ran to Polly who had collapsed, she looked terrible; beaten up too. It made Felicity feel a little bad for enjoying the evening after all of the scare was eventually over, she wondered what must have happened, it couldn’t have been a guy or anything like that, for one her wounds were probably too severe for that, but mainly Felicity figured that Polly wouldn’t stand for anything like that. It must have been that creature from the night before. Once she was carried away Felicity sat back down to finish her breakfast, she had a day of cleaning chalk boards and cauldrons. A few days later, the day of the death-match Felicity had received a letter from home, she half expected it to be from her aunt letting her know what time they were going to collect her but as she turned the letter over it has the wax seal of her father on it, she went a little pale as she opened it in the common room and read, skimming through the ‘you’re a disgrace to the Moran name’ and ‘Only Merlin knows why I couldn’t have a boy’ along with ‘you need to learn responsibility’. She could seal with those as she had heard it a hundred times before but at the end of the letter it read ‘Your mother and I have decided it would be best for you to stay full board over the holidays so you can reflect on your appalling behaviour.’ Felicity didn’t care to read the rest, throwing the crumpled paper into the fire and pulling on her coat. If that was the case she wasn’t going to bother to finish her weeks detention, rather she went out into the snow covered stalls to watch the match. The two teams assembled on the pitch and she sat on her own as Polly couldn’t come outside, wrapping her coat tightly about her waist, something was about to kick off.

Jacob and the rest of the Thrisdin team walked up through the trampled snow towards the Somery group, he was already grinding his teeth. Sam, who was notably pale from the loss of Polly, put a hand on his shoulder. “Come on mate; just beat him at the game yeah?” Jacob shrugged. “Look at him, cocky as hell and twice a grim.” The team sniggered but Finn had heard. “Oh?! And what makes YOU think she would want a BLOODY NEANDERTHAL!” Jacob was now being held back by Sam and the others. “You dirty little piece of!” Some came over Jacob as he lashed himself free from his team members and ran at the scot with all his might and threw the first punch, square in the stomach, he didn’t dodge Finn’s but came straight back with left hook to the nose, an almighty crunch echoed. As Finn quickly reached a hand towards his nose, Jacob kneed him in the stomach and grabbed his neck as if to push him to the floor before hearing the shout to the side of him ‘Perstutio!’ and he was thrown a few foot back but still standing. A little bewildered he paused upon seeing Agni running up but she completely avoided Jacob and went towards Finley, as he was getting a verbal battering he couldn’t help but let a little laugh out, it was just funny to see what was going on. Felicity, watching all that was going on had began to enjoy what was happening, as much as she disliked being out in the cold and watching too boys fight over a half elf, she found some enjoyment in the drama of it all and had decided to stay until the end of it. The second crack of a slap across Jacob’s cheek wiped any remnants of a smirk from his lips, he reached a hand out to her as she left but he didn’t follow her and as she disappeared he shrugged with a long sigh. “Hah, mate its fine…” They mirrored each other with their sheepish grins; it looked like there was no need for a death match after all.

As the last day of term came to a close Felicity watched people with their suitcases and trunks struggle down the steep flights of stairs, she had never wanted to go home in the first place but the fact she was being made to stay in the school just irritated her more than having to clean the boards and stables all week, luckily Professor Laurendale was in a good mood, she didn’t make Felicity complete the week seeing as it was Christmas next week and all. But what was she going to do all of the Holidays? Agni was leaving, she hadn’t seen Polly around for a while and assumed she would jet off somewhere (remembering that she didn’t actually have a home to go to.) She slumped into one of the large leather chairs of the common room in a half sulk, but still, she would be able to go out into the forest a little easier, most of the teachers had gone home too so there would be less supervision.

Jacob was one of the many trying to leave the castle, except he only had one briefcase full of clothes; his parents were brining the clothes he left at home on holiday for him. Catching the train he had felt bad for not being able to say goodbye to Agni, and he missed her quite a bit, for a whole week she had not even looked at him sideways which told him that she was really angry this time. But perhaps the holidays away would lighten the mood when they got back. Jacob wasn’t looking forward to the whole concept of a skiing holiday, but his younger sister had insisted on the idea so much that their mother then insisted too; and Jacob new too well that their father would always give in eventually to his ‘two favourite ladies’. But Jacob preferred the sun and the warmth so planned on staying in the lodge for most of the day, or maybe ice skating but the snow and mountains were generally a no go for him. Jacob met his older brother halfway one he had gotten into France, taller than Jacob by an inch, Martin was considerably thinner than Jacob or Tony, the eldest, and the only Elladora to have taken on the previously dominant gene of jet black hair, which only made him look paler and more melancholy. His personality often matched his appearance too, if it weren’t for the occasional grin it would seem as if he were going to a funeral. “Takes after your father, sweetie.” Their mother would always say, they were an odd couple in themselves, not particularly matched a first glance, but it was a part of being a shade, a significant difference between appearance and reality.

After nearly a day’s travelling, Jacob and Martin met their older brother in car towards the snowy mountains, Jacob was a god-given child who had excelled in everything he had done, a reader of ancient magic for the order and leader of several projects to aid certain ‘equality issues’ but he never really spoke to much about it, single and living on his own in London, he was considered to be somewhat of a bachelor at twenty three. The three boys finally reached the lodge house that they were staying in where their mother, father and younger sister would already be staying. “Oh my babies!” Their mum cooed, jumping out of her seat and kissing the three boys on the forehead. “You took too long.” She said rather suddenly, a harsher tone; it was a habit of his mother, to almost flip personalities now and then. “Tony dear, get the drinks? I’m parched.” He swaggered over to the bar as Jacob found himself a seat in the corner, partially behind his sister who was bothering Martin, trying to plait his hair as he reading, only to be hissed at by him. Jacob picked up a broadsheet news paper and began to read about deformis things, not particularly interested but it was something to pass the time, for instance, he could never understand The Sun, but they had alright cartoons at the end.

Tony wandered over to the bar to see a younger girl chatting to a slightly older barmaid. “Hi there guys.” Tony grinned. He was about to speak when he noticed the younger girl’s ears. “Uh miss, you aren’t by any chance a…” He pointed to his own ears with a smile. “Yeah I can see them, nice one, anyway,” He passed over a list of what his mother wanted to drink for the family. “If you could bring that over yourself, I’m sure my mother would be delighted to know that someone like us is about up here. Ta.” He winked and walked back off to talk to Victor, their father about some urgent Order news. “Mother, an elf is working behind the bar, she’ll be over in a minute.” Lorelei turned around with a bright smile. “Well I never! Isn’t she just the cutest thing? Victor? Isn’t she? Jacob, Martin, one of the chalet girls is an elf!” Jacob looked over the paper with a look of sheer dread, his cheeks losing their already minimal colour. “ I thought we came here to mingle with the deformis, not other magical being…” “Oh be quiet Jacob, you could have stayed at school if you wanted.” His father laughed without a smile before going back to his conversation with his eldest son. Lorelei was the first to speak “Lovely to meet you, sweetie! Nice to see someone else up here that isn’t all politics and economic crisis, eh? I’m Lorelei, this is Victor my husband and my children, Tony, Martin Jacob and Sophia… Oh Jacob would you stop reading for one moment? I am trying to be sociable, there, thank you.” Jacob had begrudgingly pulled down the paper, only looking at Agni once, slowly dying inside of embarrassment.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Wed Feb 01, 2012 9:41 am

Agni’s father Jean-Luc had travelled in his baby blue pickup truck all the way from France in order to collect his daughter, but in his opinion it was worth it. She was the meaning to his life since his wife passed, and they were as close as anyone could ever be The trip back was relatively painless, however Agni slept all day after in order to keep up with the time zones. She was soon called back in to work however. Their cottage was situated just inside the border of the ski resort and therefore they had to pay rent to them, it was lowered because she was popular with holiday makers due to her bi-lingual nature. Dressing in a pink polo top with ‘The Lodge’ embroided on the pocket, a pair of black Lycra ski pants and two large fluffy boots, she pulled her hair back into a high ponytail and walked across the snow. It was warm in the chalet; she was welcomed warmly by Pierre the barman who was a personal favourite of hers. ‘Bonjour Pierre! Ca’va mon petit pois?!’ They kissed each cheek before hugging each other and exchanging stories. She was preparing the leaflets and itinerary for the family she was to be waiting on when she was startled by an English voice. She looked up, only to be a bit taken aback. ‘Oh excuse me Sir, he does not speak English.’ She had expected the family later, but apparently they had arrived early. She was also startled by his lack of discrepancy. ‘Oui, I am. And you must be a magical family! Fantastique!’ her face lit up in a smile. ‘Oui Monsieur, I will bring them over right away.’ She took a note of here he was sitting and looked at the list of drinks.
The elf carried the large circular tray with the various drinks on over to the family. ‘Bonjour! Et welcome to The Lodge! My name is Agatcher or Agni and my reference number is 150602. I am your assigned waitress and personal activities co-ordinator for your stay. Here is an itinerary for the week including a list of ski slopes and opening times. I myself am a qualified ski instructor and would be happy for any bookings with myself as I am the only English speaking instructor on the slopes this week. Et le femme’s? The spa, gym and pool are open twelve hours of the day. Your drinks.’ She smiled, knowing that she was doing an excellent job. The woman was the first to speak as the oldest who had ordered the drinks was engrossed in a conversation with his father. “Lovely to meet you, sweetie! Nice to see someone else up here that isn’t all politics and economic crisis, eh? I’m Lorelei, this is Victor my husband and my children, Tony, Martin Jacob and Sophia… Oh Jacob would you stop reading for one moment? I am trying to be sociable, there, thank you.” Agni smiled down into the drinks, handing them out onto the small mahogany and pearl inlaid table. It being a premier resort, everything was of the highest calibre. Even the coffee tables. She looked up to each of the family as she laid their drinks down, guessing perfectly who each drink was for. ‘Bonjour Victor, Tony, Martin… Jaco… Jake?’ She looked at the youngest son with sheer astonishment. ‘I… Sophia, bonjour. May I show you to your rooms…? Her face was flushed red as she refused to make eye contact with anyone else. She couldn’t believe that Jacob was there. She hadn’t stopped thinking about him since she left. It was evident that Lorelei had noticed her change of attitude as she soon professed her interest for Jacob’s love of the outdoors which Agni knew only too well was completely fictional. ‘Would a skiing or snowboarding session be of interest? I could ask if there is a group session for tomorrow…’ she gulped when a one on one lesson was mentioned. ‘Um… oui, I shall, ehh… fetch you the price lists…’ She quickly left the family to go back to Pierre and profess her embarrassment with big hand gestures and fluent French.
After taking somewhat of a breather, she came back with a list of prices for her services. ‘May I also suggest on a personal level,’ she whispered in a lowered tone ‘the caves of Asgaroth are just off the path of the yellow run and are beautiful this time of year. As well, if anyone is interested in the wildlife…’ she was cut short. ‘Excuse me, I do get carried away… I shall leave you for tonight, my personal reference number is 150602, if you need absolutely anything, feel free to page me. I am on call twenty four hours a day. Thank you for booking the lessons and Jacob, I will see you tomorrow morning at eleven by the kit hut. Mercy et enjoy your stay.’ She walked away hurriedly as she felt her face burning up with the shame.

Agni was glad not to be called on all night, they had arrived earlier than imagined the day before, but it was still late. She was also glad for the lie in, unlike Germans or French, the English never liked to get up early for the morning activities. She ate a warm breakfast and packed her bag including simple survival and first aid kits as was nescassary when taking a person out on a one to one lesson. Sighing, she clicked on her boots and looked in the mirror. ‘How do I look Papa?’ Her father looked up from the breakfast table ‘Adorable peaches. Any reason?’ she frowned ‘of course not, but I do like to look nice Papa.’ He laughed warmly ‘well you do. Have a nice day. And keep safe!’ she waved him off, strapped on her board, pulled on her goggles and set out into the snow. She was casually wearing a thin black ski jacket and a white tank top. She wore a pair of baby blue, thick ski trousers and blue goggles. Her hair was plaited as it was for every lesson. Unusually, she was overly nervous about speaking to Jacob again. Sadly he was early. ‘Bonjour Monsieur, excuse moi pour keeping you waiting…’ she was trying to act cool but it was just coming across as frosty. ‘You cannot go out to ski wearing this.’ She said with a half-smile. ‘It is too thin for a beginner, you will freeze…’ she was taken aback by his protests ‘Excuse me! Your mother informed me that you hadn’t graced the slopes before… hundreds of times you say? Well! We should go to the black slopes today then oui?!’ her excitement rose as she anticipated her first run of the season. Dropping to her knees to clip on his skii’s, she did so with speed, offering her hand to help him up afterward. They made quick progress to the ski-lift, and were strapped in by Lucy, another instructor who looked Jacob up and down before winking at Agni. She glared at her colleague before strapping them in making their way up the slope.

The trip was silent for a while as they ascended the mountains before Agni finally decided to give in. ‘I’m sorry Jacob… I did not mean to shout at you so hard, I mean… I suppose I had been finished with being used by people or something… what Finley said made me mad you know…’ slowly, she started to giggle ‘I was so surprised when I saw you sat there… I thought I was going to die when your mother booked a lesson…’ she laughed a little more as she listened to him. ‘When I heard your brother ask for drinks… um… Toni? Toni, yes, I had a heart attack, your voice sounds similar to his you know.’ The awkwardness of the conversation seemed to melt away as they continued talking, however she couldn’t help but notice how he became more anxious the further up they went. ‘Are you sure the black run is okay with you? You are looking a little scared…’ his excuses made her smile ‘D’accord D’accord…’ They finally reached the peak, slipping off the lift, they slowly made their way to the top of the run. ‘Belle…’ she whispered, looking at the incredibly steep expert’s run, she knew it like the back of her hand. ‘Are you to go with me then? Okay, UN, DEUX, TROIS!’ leaning forward, she hit the first jump, catching big air and grabbing the tail of her board, however, when she looked back, all she could see was the tiny shiloette of Jacob still stood on the hill.

‘What do you mean you were lying!?’ Agni exclaimed after trudging back up the slope again to meet him. ‘You are an idiot Jacob.’ Sitting in the snow, she wondered what to do next. ‘Ah I know… we could walk down through the national park no?’ Reaching into her huge rucksack, she pulled out a pair of snowshoes. ‘Here, put these on.’ She said, throwing them at him and unbuckling his boots. ‘No I do not need a pair, I am going to ride down seeming as I am not a complete… how you say… woos.’ She giggled, narrowly missing a snowball. ‘D’accord. Let’s go.’

About half way down the run, Agni was starting to get a sick feeling in her stomach ‘Jacob… shh… no stop… I am being serious Jacob…’ the pair paused motionless. Agni was picking up a dull sound a little way away, but whatever it was it was big. ‘Can you hear that? No of course you cannot… your ears are too small…’ She looked back up the slope with her large eyes ‘Oh no.’ she muttered, the sick feeling intensifying. ‘Jake we need to go, we need to go quickly… one of the snowdrifts has collapsed…’ as soon as she said it, her radio attached to her belt crackled ‘Bonjour…’ she held it up to her ear ‘Oui… Le nord… oui… non noir… un maison? Cabin what is… oui… d’accord…’ she shut it off, and without explaining, grabbed Jacob’s hand, kicked off her board and left it in the snow, moving quickly down the slope. ‘Stop speaking we need to hurry…’ before she knew it, the noise became louder and louder, before they were literally running for their lives through the splitting trees and thick snow, a white blanketed wave pursuing them. ‘Come on Jacob, just a little further… there is a cabin… come on…’ Turning a corner, the shack was in sight, but now, so was the avalanche. ‘COME ON JAKE MOVE!’ she screamed, feeling the air hitting the back of her neck, with intense speed, she shoved him through the door and was pushed back on top of him by the door which was forced shut by the toppling snow. She daren’t move as the roaring sound of crippling snow poured over the small log cabin. It seemed like an age before the noise subsided and everything was deathly quiet. She lay on him, her breath rapid from the running and her eyes wide with fear. Snapping out of it, she stood and tried her radio. ‘Bonjour…? Salut Lucy? Agh…’ she threw the thing across the room in frustration. ‘This is all your fault!’ she shouted, not even looking at him. ‘If you had told me the truth in the first place… zut alors Jacob!’ she put a hand over her face before snapping back at him again ‘Do you know how serious this is!? People die Jacob, every year people die because of snow drifts.’ Plonking herself down on the single bed, her head in her hands, her breath picked up. If it was one thing she was deathly scared of, it was being buried alive. Her eyes streamed with tears and she began to struggle for breath as she launched into a panic attack. ‘Jake… Jake we’re going to die… Oh my god… Help me Jake…please… please… die… we’re going to…’ her gasps were laboured as she gripped onto the side of the bed bent double in panic.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Thu Feb 02, 2012 10:23 am

Once Agni had walked away Jacob wanted to crawl into a deep and dark hole and stay there for the entirety of the trip, which his youngest sibling quickly picked up upon. “Jake, what are you doing? You’ve gone all red, haha, tony! Look at him!” Tony turned around with a razor-toothed grin. “What’s she like then? Eh?” Lorelei interrupted the conversation “Oh hush will you? The lot of you, you’re giving poor martin a migraine.” He hadn’t spoken once but his face said more than he would have had to. Martin enjoyed seeing Jacob squirm; they had never seen eye to eye from the moment that Jacob was born. After Agni left with the price lists Jacob got up and professed the need to go to his room, not feeling well, tired, in need to peace, anything to get away from his mother before she made him commit another social suicide. Laying on his bed as the room filled with the steam of the red hot shower he had left running he couldn’t help but think about Agni, not once had she mentioned working in the alps, all he knew was that her dad lived in France, he had not expected to see her and it was going to get to him, the way she was so confident and cheery around the deformis and other guests, she was a completely different person out here and it was refreshing, but he dreaded the thought of going skiing, he had only ever tried it once before and it was of little success as he fell over and broke his ankle. After a long shower Jacob decided to try and sleep off his shame, he would have rathered staying at school than be here, but he was going to have to bear it. Reaching onto the windowsill by his bed, Jacob pulled some of the leaves off of the plant that Agni had given him and crushed them up as instructed; it really helped him get some sleep.

Thankful for a good night’s sleep Jacob managed to pull himself out of bed rather painlessly at a reasonable hour and get dressed, his parents had bought him skiing clothes but Jacob had refused to wear anything that resembled a puffer fish and was therefore left with a rather uninspiring amount of clothes, neither the less he kitted up, ate breakfast and was out by the kit hut at quarter to eleven. Already Jacob wanted to go home, his younger sister was already ice skating with an instructor down on the frozen lake and he assume the rest of his family were asleep or just not braving the cold as none of his family enjoyed it. “Why…” Jacob muttered under his breath. But he quickly quietened down as Agni arrived, “I think I know what to wear, I’m not a beginner ” Clipping his skis on with suppressed difficulty Jacob shook away her hand. “I’m fine.” He couldn’t understand why she was being so frosty about all that had happened, he had been fighting for her. Ascending the slopes, Jacob looked down over the lodge as it got gradually smaller, feeling a little bit sick ‘I’m sorry Jacob… I did not mean to shout at you so hard, I mean… I suppose I had been finished with being used by people or something… what Finley said made me mad you know…’ Agni’s apology brought Jacob out of his petrified state he half smiled back, not really sure what he was doing, other than gripping the lift for dear life. Once Agni noticed his nerves Jacob put on a brave face. “Scared? Ha. Not likely Agni, just cold I guess, not used to the snow.” However, as Jacob looked over the edge of the jump, his knees got a little weaker and he felt sick, he did say anything and let Agni shoot down, he was glad he hadn’t joined her as the height she went on that board was intense, instead he sat in the snow at the top, wondering how exactly he was going to get down.

“Sorry!” Jacob felt like running into the forests and mountains like Frankenstein’s creature after Agni came back up to the top. “Walking, yeah that sounds like a better idea.”He grinned and popped on the snow shoes. “I’m not a woos! That run is mental!” They walked for a while in silence but just as Jacob was about to speak he was cut off by Agni. “What? What was he saying? Agni what?” But there was not time to explain as they ran. Tumbling to the floor of the cabin and Agni on top of him Jacob tried hard to catch his breath. As Agni scrambled onto the bed Jacob sat up, about to answer back about the blame being put on him but as she started to cry he stopped immediately. “Hey… stop that…” It was the best he could do for the moment as he struggled to breath. “No… we won’t” Jacob had no idea what was going to happen, but he couldn’t stand seeing Agni so scared, but it actually made him more certain that something terrible was going to happen, by the looks of it Agni was an expert out here and if she was scared there was reason to be. But for now, he kneeled and shuffled his way over to the bed, took off his pathetic ski jacket and sat on the bed beside her. “Hey, come on, they knew we were close to the cabin right? Well this will be the first place they will try to find us; we just need to give it some time.” He had no idea what he was talking about, so instead he settled to just wrapping an arm around her and leaning his head on hers.
A while passed before Agni stopped crying and even after that there was a horrible silence that was only interrupted by the sound of the snow creaking on all side of them. It once again felt terribly awkward as Jacob tried desperately to look somewhere, but there was hardly anything in the cabin. He slinked off of the bed and decided to sit on one of the wooden chairs instead. “I uh… Only lied to you because I thought you were still really angry at me, and I wanted to impress you… a pretty crappy reason, but yeah.” Jacob began to fiddle with his shirt sleeves as he noticed it getting darker, it had to be mid to late afternoon now, he didn’t know what else to say to Agni, he wanted to take her mind off of what was going on. “So… how long have you and your father been up here? I mean you never mentioned it before…”

Back in the dreary midst of nowhere, Felicity had taken a habit for two days straight of not leaving her bed. As much as she wanted to go out and train, it was really cold and her bed was stupidly warm. Only getting up to shower she read most of the day and then buried herself underneath the covers and slept, it was all going perfectly well until the sound of footsteps came into the dorm, only for Professor Laurendale to be stood at the foot of her bed. “You have one days detention outstanding Miss Moran, come on, up you get, you will be helping clear out the stables for a few hours.” Felicity swore violently under her breath and she dragged herself from the blissful warmth of her bed and got dressed. A plain black tee shirt, a pair of shorts paired with two layers of tights and a dark grey woollen coat. Felicity wasn’t looking forward to going anywhere near the stables, she had never ridden a horse and as far as she was concerned she didn’t like them much. Without so much as being able to grab some breakfast she was drill marched to the stabled by Professor Laurendale herself to the watchful eye of the groundskeeper who was not a cheery middle aged man with a passion for all sorts of animals, rather a wiry looking man with one hell of an attitude problem. Luckily he left Felicity to it and said she could stop at lunch time, still being a few long hours to go. Felicity looked down at the shovel in her hand with a disapproving sigh, she hadn’t ever shovelled anything in her life, she would have thought there was some charm for it, but obviously that wouldn’t be a punishment. Starting with at the furthest end she started to chuck out the soiled straw and whatever else she found, she wasn’t going to discriminate, everything went, she wanted to go for a run or walk through the grounds, not be stuck clearing mess. Her self-pitying thoughts were interrupted a while later as she more or less half way. “What?” Felicity threw her arms out at Ludovic, shovel still in hand. “Well go on then, ponse away on y’ li’l pony now!” She sighed heavily, putting the shovel down. “Do I look like I even care what it is? If y’still talkin’ t’me because y’expecting some apology when keep waitin’… You’ve got a problem with me, I can tell; now piss off b’fore I throw a shovel at you.” Felicity picked up the shovel, threatening him a little with it.

James was not looking forward to staying over the holidays to supervise, he had planned to visit relatives in New Orleans but as a professor of animal care had fallen ill, he had to cover whilst the older man recovered. But there were small graces, there weren’t so many student about this year over the holidays, practically all of the first years were gone, except of course, he had noticed that Polly was staying over the holidays, it was possibly the icing on the whole thing. But he wasn’t going to lurking after her. No, that would be too obvious and not as much fun as he would like, he was going to go about his usual business and wait for her. They hadn’t discussed him being poisoned yet, and of what he could remember, how he was poisoned, she had begun to enjoy herself. Knowing a little of Polly’s personality, he suspected that she would come around again. For the mean time he kept himself away in the restricted areas of the library, reading up on some more…controversial areas of magic.

Jacob after a while began to get colder and colder, he could tell that it was getting later, perhaps even late evening now. Agni and Jacob had stopped talking a little while before, he still thought that things were a little awkward between them, Jacob lay back on wooden chair and sighed, if he looked back far enough he could in fact blame this whole situation on himself, if he hadn’t been so headstrong as to demand a fight between him and Finley then Agni wouldn’t have been so upset with either of them, and that would mean that coming on the skiing trip would have been else embarrassing making Jacob more capable of admitting his lack of snow-sport experience which would have in turn save them from being several foot under snow. He felt bad enough already but he still asked “So, what Finley was saying… it wasn’t true?” It literally slipped from his mouth. “I just… curiosity? Uh..” He shut up quickly, not wanting to upset her anymore, “I don’t… uh, think anyone is going to pick up.” He looked to her radio that was continuing to crackle away, no faint whispers of a voice, they were very much alone.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Fri Feb 03, 2012 8:04 am

Ludovic woke at the break of dawn as he did every morning since the holidays began, to the sound of his swallow charm. Rolling out of bed and into a pair of black shorts, Lycra fitted tee-shirt and a large woollen scarf wrapped twice around his neck and mouth for extra measure, he began to stretch. Since the forest was out of bounds without a Professor present, Cael had set himself on jogging around the castle before going for an hour or two’s ride on a horse. He loved horse riding, it was a time where he could use his powers without anyone knowing, where he could link his soul with the equine and ride as one being. Finishing his run (the only adverse feeling being his wet feet) he made his way to the stables, only to be greeted by an angry Felicity. “Well go on then, ponse away on y’ li’l pony now!” he frowned, moving towards the tack wall to pull down an appropriate saddle, one doing so, he looked at her with a slight raised eyebrow ‘She’s a horse.’ He muttered, apparently not helping situations. “Do I look like I even care what it is? If y’still talkin’ t’me because y’expecting some apology then keep waitin’… You’ve got a problem with me, I can tell; now piss off b’fore I throw a shovel at you.” Cael frowned, guiding the now bridled horse out into the courtyard. ‘I’ve never seen a leprechaun so angry.’ He said nonchalantly while strapping on some snow protective guards on the animal’s legs. He could tell the horse was beginning to become agitated due to her shouting, so standing up, he handed the reins to the bridle, moving to collect the saddle off the fence and lift it onto the already laid out blanket on the horses strong back. ‘You know…’ he started, louder than before, and stronger, as if he demanded respect. ‘If you weren’t such an intimidating, angry person…’ he wedged his foot in the stirrup and climbed into the saddle, reclaiming the reins ‘you could be quite attractive.’ Without so much of a thread of feeling, he turned and left, riding out into the now.

Polly had woken up with a sore neck, and sore ribs, and a sore arms and a sore leg, she was basically aching all over, she blamed the cold. As well as having about three blankets and a hot water bottle, she was covered head to toe in woollies. It was around mid-day when she finally got up, with both a terrible cold and a mending body. She collected her crutches and made her way down stairs in thermal socks, leggings, blue jogging bottoms, a long sleeved tee-shirt, a short sleeved tee-shirt, a cardigan, a hoodie, a scarf a hat and a pair of fluffy uggs, ready to get some food. Finally reaching the great hall after what seemed like hours of hopping down stairs, she was met in the door by the nurse who had apparently been waiting for her for quite some time. After being released after some rigorous medicine taking, leg and chest bandaging and questioning from the woman, she felt at least a little better. With Jimmy by her side, she sat down in the hall, a large bowl of honey soaked porridge put down in front of her.

‘Finley? Oh there you are Finley! Angus is coming over with Kira and the new baby today, will you get Blaine and Isla up and tell them to get the little ones ready?’ Finn smiled, looking up at his mother ‘Lorna and Malcolm are already dressed, I got them ready earlier.’ The tired, yet glowing woman ruffled her middle son’s hair ‘you’re a good boy…What about Stewie sweetie?’ Finn paused pairing up socks while he thought ‘ugh… I think he’s outside with Dad…’ right on que, the door opened, snow blasting in and the whistling of wind almost hurting their ears. The door slammed shut and the six foot six giant of a Scot walked in with his equally large son. ‘Och… It’s blowing a gale out there! Manage to get Laddie back home just in time eh boy?’ he elbowed the large lad in the ribs who grinned a little before hanging his coat up on the higher pegs and sinking into one of the well-worn sofa’s. Only Angus, Finley and Lorna were red-headed like their dad, the rest had mousey brown hair, there was no dispute about who’s children they were however, with similar features and bone structures, they looked about as alike as if they were all born within a month of each other.

Agni managed to calm down after a while, moving out from Jacob’s arm and pacing the length of the cabin. There wasn’t much in there, a fireplace, some steel bowls, a bed and some firewood. She was just thankful she still had her rucksack with her. There were two oil lamps in the room, their only source of light and heat for the moment seeming as the generator looked like it’d packed up years ago. She was now sat on the cold wooden floor unpacking her bag and laying out their provisions carefully and in order of importance. She continued to try her radio, pressing the connection button and speaking into it with fluent yet desperate French. In her panic, she had almost forgotten that Jacob was there. “So, what Finley was saying… it wasn’t true?” she paused, her hand shaking ‘Pardon.’ He seemed to regret even saying anything as she began a bit more frantically, attempting to get through to someone with the radio again. “I don’t… uh, think anyone is going to pick up.” ‘I know!’ she shouted, throwing the radio across the room until it smashed against the other wall into several pieces and then clattered to the floor. ‘And… and I do not think you know me at all if you even think that the things Finley was saying were true, I mean, how could I like someone like him!? He is big headed, stupid, lazy, ignorant… I mean, he is ginger pour l'amour du ciel! Zut Alhors! I do not like him, I like y…’ she caught herself before she said anything more, now standing and facing him. ‘I like… to be alone… because, because then I do not get upset so much.’ She paused, looking down to her snow boots which were weighing her down. She walked away from him, sitting back down on the floor to pull off her boots and count how many matches she had left.

After another long silence, the elven girl sat dejected and grumpy on the floor. She soon honed into the sound of teeth chattering however, turning her head slightly to look at Jacob who was wrapped up in the thin brown blanket like his life depended on it, obviously freezing. ‘êtes-vous froid?’ she asked, forgetting for a moment that he was English. ‘Excuse moi… Are you cold?’ she asked again, this time in the correct language. She grunted at his reply, pushing herself off the floor to check the oil lamps. ‘No I am not cold, I am very warm. My skin counteracts the environment, part of being elven I suppose…’ she smiled whilst folding a bandage from her first aid kit. ‘Although I have grown up here… and I did mention it to you, you were not listening.’ She stood elegantly, walking over to check the oil lamps. After seeing how low on oil one of them was, she blew it out. ‘You are going to die of hypothermia…’ she muttered to herself, seeing how blue his lips were. After a moment of frowning and thinking, she pointed at him ‘Unzip your jacket.’ She rolled her eyes ‘I know it is cold. I also know what I am talking about so please Jacob, do what I say.’ The temperature was rapidly declining; however there was a glimmer of hope for him as she saw his loose grey tee shirt. ‘D’accord… Bon… perhaps there is some hope for your life after all… take off your tee-shirt et then put your jacket back on… bon… n…now, close your eyes.’ She said, a dark shade of red coming to her cheeks. ‘Just do it. And do not look.’ She turned away from him and unzipped her jacket, folding it and throwing it on the floor. She then slowly pulled her top over her head and put that on the floor too, sucking the cold air through her teeth as her skin prickled with the severity of the cold. Then, quietly, she turned around and sat on the bed, pulling the covers up over herself and wrapping her arms around Jacob’s broad back. ‘Z…z…zip t…the jacket up… Jacob…’ she lay there for a moment, her head rested on his shoulder. ‘Do not get any ideas. I am saving your life.’ She looked up to him with her large amber eyes, looking away again quickly turning a brighter shade of pink as she caught his eye accidentally. ‘Say something…’ she said after a moment ‘This is awkward enough as it is without you just lying there…’

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Mon Feb 06, 2012 10:02 am

“Leprechaun!?” Felicity threw the shovel in his direction, “That’s a bloody insult!” Felicity could have boiled over in rage as he rode off; she hoped for his sake that she was finished by the time that he came back. Rushing the last few stables however, Felicity was done before lunch and decided to run off before the grounds keeper came back and made her do something else, getting back to the school’s main building she headed straight for the showers, not caring that she was traipsing mud and snow thought the school. She didn’t want to leave the warmth of the water but as she heard other girls walking in Felicity dried herself off and hurried back to the dorm where she got changed. Stood behind her bed she changed into a pair jeans and a dark red knitted jumper. She stood in front of her small mirror as she sorted her hair out, pulling pieces from side to side; it always looked the same. What did Ludovic mean when he said she might be attractive? She didn’t know whether to take it as a compliment or not. “Ugh!” Felicity decided not to think about it or Ludovic for that matter.

Jacob was having a harder time, after being shouted at again, Jacob went quiet and really started to feel the cold, there was an unspoken knowledge that the fire couldn’t be lit, it would burn up all of their oxygen and also melt ice in the chimney that would either put the fire out quickly or flood them; probably both. As Agni got up to check the oil lams that were in the cabin he stood and sat on the bed. “I..i..i’m fine…” He chattered painfully, not wanting to cause Agni any more hassle, he felt he had done enough of that to last them a while. “What?” He put a hand to his lip, he could hardly feel anything. “Uhh…” He wasn’t sure about unzipping his jacket but he wasn’t going to argue about it. “Closed.” Jacob closed his eyes tightly, not too sure what she was doing but the lack of the extra layer was enough to make him wince from the cold, as soon as he felt the significantly warmer skin of Agni his eyes bolted open, having nearly jumped out of his skin. He fumbled inelegantly with the zip of the jacket but after two or three attempts they were locked in together. For a moment Jacob just laid there, not sure what to do, or say even, he was grateful for the warmth but he couldn’t help but think that if things hadn’t been awkward already, they were about threefold now. “Would you… like me to … I don’t know … comment on the weather? Because… I..i..i.. think it’s pretty terrible.” He wasn’t doing himself any favours so started to ramble a little. “It’s funny you know, the fact that shades originated in darkness yeah? Where the sun was never seen, only preying at night on the weak… you’d think that I’d at least have some ability to withstand the cold… my great grandfather was rumoured to have never seen daylight in his entire life. My father had never seen light either… yeah I know, he’s blind.” Jacob laughed. “I know it’s not funny, it’s just that he must be the most perceptive man I know, he has other worldy senses that compensate I suppose, if he ever makes eye contact, you can guarantee he is staring straight into your soul.” Jacob paused. “I’m sorry that was creepier that it was meant to sound.” He grinned, at least he could look Agni in the eyes without dying of embarrassment whilst he was talking now, he took a moment to realise just how lovely her eyes actually were. “So, go on then, you tell me something witty and entertaining…what do you mean that I’m not witty and entertaining? I think I’d be better if we weren’t trying to impersonate a Siamese twin….which I am really grateful for by the way, you are… very…warm!”

Felicity didn’t go for her planned run around the school buildings; instead she sat in the common room for a few hours reading over some old folk law and then some recent articles about demorfis culture. Not once was she disturbed which was a good thing, she hadn’t gone to see Polly for a while, she would make the effort to tomorrow, she was just enjoying not being hassled, most of the girls who caused her grief had left for the holidays. Approaching dinner time she walked down to the hall, seeing Polly. “Shame about you and Sam.” She didn’t sound sympathetic on the account that she guessed Polly would have a new man by tomorrow lunch time. “How are you healing? Ouch, well, I’ll catch you tomorrow yeah? Would ask what you want to do but… all bandaged up like that…” Felicity laughed in a friendly way. “you’re hardcore.” Leaving Polly to sit at the Thrisdin table, Felicity sat next to a half demorfis girl wittering about Christmas in the demorfis world. She had never really experienced demorfis life, she could only imagine there was nothing terribly exciting about it but followed the girl back to the common room after eating, half making an effort to be social, but it didn’t work as the girl was joined by her friend and Felicity was left to read again in the common room, which she didn’t mind, this time it was a local newspaper reporting that a wizard who had broken free from the country prison had still not been found. Every so often Felicity looked up toward Ludovic who wasn’t too far away, she caught his eye once or twice, she desperately wished that she had come up with some witty comeback about English people but she wasn’t well educated in dry humour, he father being lewd in nature and her mother deprived of any humour at all. The dull beat of boredom within the common room was getting to much to bear, she wished she was in Thrisdin, then she would have a laugh with someone, seeing as she couldn’t get into their common room, Felicity stood and grabbed her coat, deciding to go out for the evening. Without saying a word she left the common room in plain sight of everyone.

She was quick to leave, rushing down the stairs and using her skill as an endurance team member to slip out of a window in into the grounds. Feeling pretty confident, she hurried into the forest, but un-surprisingly not to deep, the moon was still a good source of light but she wasn’t visible to the school building. The noises that came from inside the forest didn’t particularly scare her, she preferred to stay where she could see at night. It was just as she was contemplating walking over to a clearing that out of the corner of her eye she saw a figure, she wasn’t even sure what it was, tunring quickly she fired a charm hurtling in that direction, though successful, it missed, straight over the shoulder. As light fell onto the silhouette Felicity let out an exasperated breath. “What are you doing Whitehall!?! I could have hit you! That were a warnin’ shot… I know it’s after hours… so? What do you want?” She began to carry on walking but stopped ant turned around to face him, a little uncomfortable being around him, but not for the obvious reasons. “You can shove off if you think I am going back now.”

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Wed Feb 15, 2012 9:04 am

Agni found herself listening to his mindless chatter, but made a mental note to ask him about certain things later, like what he meant about shades and the whole creepy soul scenario. She looked at him with her large amber eyes, her pupils large and doe-like in order to take in as much sunlight as possible as it was with all ami elves. When conversation turned to her however, she looked away. ‘Witty and entertaining? How about deep and creepy?’ she laughed a little about his comment of her warmth. ‘Of course I am warm, you conserve energy through body heat, and as an Elf my body heat is warmer. And for your information I think they do call them conjoined twins now, that is because not all of them do come from Siam… which is no longer a place.’ She looked up at him again with a grin ‘perhaps if you did spend more time with the deformis, you would be smarter. Instead you are an imbecile!’ she smiled, pinching him a little to add insult to injury, or visa versa. ‘I did learn that off of a deformis doctor, he was in his training and from Austral… Astralasia…. A… thank you, yes, he and his friends did come from there to here to ski for a holiday after passing their exams while I was sixteen and just a waitress and spa attendant… they were nice to me…’ she stopped talking, thinking back to the last summer after she had been pulled out of her previous school, it was a hard time for her but the deformis always helped her through. ‘As for witty anecdotes I am French and wit escapes us. And Entertaining speeches? I am far from entertaining…’ she sunk her cheek into Jacob’s bare chest. ‘Your hands will be warmer on my back. Your gloves are useless. Look will you just do it because I am the professional here not you.’ As he did what he was told, she hissed through her teeth as his cold hands brushed against her scars. ‘No no, do not worry, it is not your fault.’ She grumbled after almost forgetting about them for just a second. As soon as he began talking again, she decided to change the subject, just in case he asked her about them ‘It should be time for sleep, it is dark.’ She waited a moment before wriggling out of the jacket, barking at him to close his eyes as she flitted over to the lamp, looking at it for a moment before looking down at herself. What a day to wear a totally unattractive sports bra with electric green straps. Shaking her head for being so shallow, she bent down and blew out the light.

Cael smirked every time he spotted Felicity for the rest of the day, knowing that he had wound her up. However, he was just walking back to the common room after dinner when he saw something out of the corner of his eye. He quickly turned and saw the tail end of somebody jumping out the window. He smirked, knowing just who it was. Zipping up his jumper and handing his bag to one of his female followers, he thanked Merlin that he was wearing his tracksuit bottoms and knest shirt. Jumping out through the window a few moments after the shadow, he suddenly realised how dark it was. Running after her, he soon approached the forest. He cursed her silently before taking a deep breath and walking in, wand raised.
The pine needles crunched under his feet with the cold frost as he walked heavy footed through the wood. He was cold and totally not happy that she had led him in there. Suddenly, a crack of light came hurtling toward him. Expertly, he flinched out of the way, however the heat of it was felt on his cheek. He strode towards her, his hands out ‘Its afterhours Moran!’ He shook his head, moving towards her again ‘you have no supervision, it’s dark it’s cold and ugh… you’re insane! I’m not leaving!’ He ran after her, yet again, flicking his wand until it emitted a warm glow, more to warm him up than to emit light.
‘Where are we going…?’ he grumbled after a while. ‘Fine. Where are you going?’ he spat, not enjoying his Christmas walk. ‘Do you know what day it is? It’s Christmas eve! I should be at home in bed with my winter socks on waiting for Santa to bring me a pony…. Ugh are you even listening to me!?’ he growled, however, something caught his unnaturally trained eye. ‘FELICITY!’ he shouted before tackling her to the ground just as a fiery dart whittled past them, engulfing the tree next to them in flames. He looked around, a hand on either side of Felicity on the floor as if protecting her from whatever was attacking them. He crouched as everything seemed quiet, however soon dropped to the floor, grabbed onto her and rolled to their left as another ball of flames hit the ground where they were laying just a second ago. He pushed her off of him and scrambled to his feet, standing in front of her and drawing his wand and firing a ball of light into the trees. It soon lit up their opponent. ‘Oh god.’

Agni’s eyes burst open, it was still pitch black but the noises she was woken by weren’t natural. Jacob’s skin was beaded in a cold sweat and he was shivering. At first, she thought he was cold, jumping out from his jacket; she covered him with the blankets, her jacket and her ski trousers, leaving her with her thermal leggings and sports bra. She climbed on top of him, terribly scared and frightened for his health. Agatcher shook his shoulder gently, her eyes welling up with tears as he thrashed and cried out in his sleep. ‘J…Jake? Jake wake up… Jacob…?’ His eyes flickered open and for only a second they were pitch black. She gasped, jumping away from him for a second, tears rolling down her cheeks and dropping onto his skin. ‘Jake… Jake you’re scaring me Jacob… Jake please… wake up please…’ She pulled all the blankets off him again as his skin started burning up. She was getting to the brink of her limit, scared and alone she looked to the broken radio on the floor and then back to her friend. She cursed herself for not bringing her wand, and for not knowing what to do with it even if she had. Just as she couldn’t take it anymore, tears streaming down her face, he woke with a gasp. He was still burning up, and out of breath, but she was just so glad that he was awake. Without thinking, she wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging herself into him, crying still and spluttering out garbled thank you’s to the ancestors. ‘Oh my goodness Jake… Jake are you alright? Are you too hot…?’ she pressed her small hand against his head, brushing his hair back from his face, searching his face with her concerned, tear filled eyes for an explanation or reaction. Her gentle fingers stroked his hair as he cooled down from his experience.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:59 am

Felicity let out a winded gasp as she was pushed to the floor, she could hardly thrash as Ludovic to get off of her but seeing the whirling torrent of fire fly past them, she was glad he had tacked her to the ground. She looked up to Ludovic wide-eyed as he crouched and looked around, she was about to open her mouth to creech but a second bolt flew at them causing them to dive out of the way, Felicity jumped off of Ludovic, looking around in the darkness for what was attacking them the tree that was alight behind them only gave so much light, watching Ludovic’s like she took a step back at what she saw. It was a dragon alright, she froze for a moment just looking at it, and from reading about dragons she knew it was only young but obviously agitated. Felicity put a hand on Ludovic’s shoulder and thrust him behind her; she didn’t say anything to him and ignore his protests. She had never confronted a dragon before, she wasn’t trying to attack it either, she was more interested in not being attacked. A third jet of fire was hurtling their way when Felicity barked “Evertamae!” and thrusting her wand into the direction of the attack a silverfish-blue light spattered in all directions in front of the pair and as the flames hurtled forwards, the almost firework-like light engulfed the flames into nothing. “Come on, this way!” Felicity nodded to her left, presuming it was the way back towards the school. They were going to have to be quick, there wasn’t much you could do to really fight off a dragon, Felicity herself wasn’t experienced enough in charms to attempt it and she didn’t want Ludovic to hang around and try to. As the pair darted through the trees expertly they could hear the dragon let out a low roar in anger and attempt to follow, she felt the heat of another bolt of fire and turned around just in time to cast a protection charm of some description, her words a little muffled but her wand still produced what could almost be described as a translucent shield around them, the fire hitting it hard and covering it for a moment, flaring around the edges. “Shit!” She cursed aloud and made another brake for it. The dragon was getting tangled up in some enchanted plant which gave the pair enough to time to get out of its sight and back into the official school grounds. Felicity nearly fell into the snow as they slowed down, one of her jumper sleeves incredibly singed, she couldn’t help but smirk and laugh a little, the relief.

Jacob Let Agni get out of the jacket and he sat up for a minute, he wanted to talk to her some more, he wasn’t good at charming girls with words but he felt comfortable talking to her about his family life which wasn’t a usual thing, but he was aware of their circumstances and shrugged, she was probably as tired as he was. Closing his eyes Jacob half hoped that the snow was still around in the morning.

His eyes bolted open, everything was in black and white- there was no discrimination with a kill like this, the first thing he could find would do. Sitting up on the bed Jacob looked around the room he could smell her blood and it would be only a matter of moments before he found her. And there she was, cowering on the floor, her whitish blond hair tinted with red, he opened his mouth with a cruel smirk and whispered…

“Agni!”

Jacob bolted upright, his eyes opening in frenzy whilst he nearly took out Agni who was leaning over him. “Oh God.” Jacob wrapped his arms around her shoulders and didn’t let go for a moment, his red hot skin quickly cooling. Their heads resting together he took a few deep breaths, his hands shaking as he went to hold her. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean for you to… to have to see that.” He couldn’t look at Agni in the eyes, she had seen why he couldn’t sleep at night, one of his weaknesses but worst he couldn’t imagine what she must have thought, he had been used to seeing his sibling’s night fits but for Agni it couldn’t have been pleasant at all. “I…” He didn’t know what to say so instead pulled Agni over to him, he wriggled away some of the covers that she had put on him and put his arms around her again, he didn’t speak again for a few hours, he closed his eyes but didn’t let himself go to sleep, it felt like a brief paradise.

Felicity decided not to tell any professor about what she had seen with Ludovic, instead she had ran away from him and back into the school in a different broken window, she made it back to the common room and her dorm room before anyone had really noticed Ludovic’s long term absence (knowing that no one would really care about her whereabouts.) She had pretty much forgotten about the whole Christmas holidays, she knew it was Christmas eve, but her parents only really did the commercial side of things and the fact she had been kept at school made her assume she would be getting nothing as some sort of punishment. There wasn’t much sleeping going on as the rest of the first year Somery girls had piled into that dorm room and were excitedly waiting the deliveries that would happen in the morning, Felicity was even woken up by the squeals of her classmates running down into the common room. She got up and brushed her hair a little and dressed in a pair of soft tracksuit bottoms and an amethyst coloured vest top. Her bare feet stung against the initially cold stone, but looking over the balcony into the rest of the common room she was very impressed, there was almost no space on the floor to stand, people were sat on tables and the ends of sofas around the fire ripping into their presents and shouting with excitement. She noticed that a lot of the presents were in a similar paper and all addressed to the same person, she rolled her eyes with a little smile, people were certainly looking enviously at Whitehall as he attempted to make a dent in the pile. Felicity sat down and was surprised to see the tealy-silver wrapping paper with blue ribbon that was trademark of her mother. There was only one, she was surprised enough at that. Opening it with care she had been given a rather old looking book, the tag reading Darling, Merry Christmas, I hope you have thought about your actions and I thought this may interest you a bit, Love your Mother and Father. She raised an eyebrow, it was something she would find in the restricted section of the library- ritual sacrifice and control of the dead. Her mother was right, it was very much interesting, but she still felt spited about the fact she had been sent a ratty book whilst all around her people were getting wonderful things. But she quickly heard behind her. “Felicity! This is yours!” It wasn’t a familiar voice but she was swiftly hit in the back of the head with another present, this one not in her mother’s wrapping. She looked around the room a little confused but opened it none the less; there was no name as to who it was from. She pulled out the endurance top with amazement, to many it was just a sports top but for her it was much more, she instantly recognised the elven threading, that made it near impossible to tear and tight enough to be a second skin and still comfortable. Her eyes lit up as she held the amazing piece of attire. It must have cost someone an arm and a leg to buy, she couldn’t believe it. “But who?” She mouthed; she didn’t mind the mystery for the moment.

As Jacob could see the sun was up when he next opened his eyes, or her could feel the air temperature rising so sat up a little and looked around the cabin, he was going to try and get them out today, he had remembered that it was Christmas day but didn’t know if elves celebrated it. Regardless he could only imagine what her father was thinking; his family would no doubt still sense he was still alive. He slid out from behind Agni and was looking around on the floor. “My wand, I know I brought it with me, I know I did.” He laughed. “If a demorfis saw it? Well they just think magic is a trick, so I guess I’d be some spontaneous entertainer? Or a nut…” He laughed a little, absolutely tired and looking forward to getting out. “Ahah! Found it!” He ran over to Agni, “You’re clever, think of a way to use this to get out! I don’t know some melty charm? Look you don’t have to remember how to do it, just give me ideas!” He grinned with a little optimism.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:35 am

Cael froze as he saw the creature, its leathery black wings hooked around the branches of the tree. He’d read about them in books and seen pictures that his brother had sent the family but to see one that close was terrifying. He didn’t even register when Felicity pushed him back, firing spells at the creature while he just stood there, when she ran however, he ran with her. The adrenaline ran through his veins, so much so that he didn’t even think to move into his panther form. He couldn’t even breathe for the most part of it he was so tense, he lived on that kind of rush, however he soon woke up from his trance like state when the hairs on the back of his neck were singed. He must have parted from her a little as when he burst out from the tree’s, hurtling towards the ground out of breath, it was a moment or two before she joined him. Too stunned to say anything, he looked at her, before not being able to control himself and breaking out into an exasperated laugh. He was so relieved that they had gotten out alive, but the thrill of the chase was intense. His laugh was strangely natural for someone who spent his time looking down on people. Finally calming down, he noticed she was gone. Picking himself up from the snow and brushing himself down, he made his way back into the castle, wondering if he had ever had a Christmas eve quite like that one.

‘Psst… Finley… Finn.’ The sound of exited squeaks in Finn’s ear soon roused him from his sleep. He rolled over with a groan, opening a sleepy green eye. He waited a moment to adjust to the dark until he could pick out the tall, skinny silhouettes of his little sisters. ‘Isla… Lorna what are you doing up? You know Father Christmas won’t come if…’ he was interrupted by a grunt from Stewart which reminded him to speak a little quieter ‘If you two aren’t in bed asleep!’ he spoke in an exited tone for the benefit of the younger of the two, however Isla just rolled her eyes. ‘She had a nightmare and wouldn’t go to sleep until she saw you.’ She said in a rather un-amused tone. Finn glanced up at the fourteen year old with attitude with a half grin after she had obviously been woken up. ‘Alright.’ He said whilst pulling himself up in his bed. ‘Come here princess’ he said with a groggy smile and wide arms. The little red-haired girl jumped into her brother’s lap, wrapping her little arms around his neck. ‘Alright Isla, you can go back to bed now.’ Finn whispered, at which the girl turned and stormed off back to her bedroom.

Polly sat in the common room, her long legs hung over the side of an armchair as she watched people come in from their evening meal. She was reading a magazine, a glossy Italian looking deformis magazine on which a beautiful woman was posing in a large furry hat on the cover. Most of her was healed by now seemed as she was quick to get better, however her arm was still bandaged from the burns. The heat in the common room was turned up to the max, so she was quite happy to wear her small cotton sleep shorts and a sports bra covered only by a see through, sleeveless white shirt. She was so engrossed in her magazine that she didn’t even register the group of girls whispering about her in the corner. Her now short hair was wet, and slicked back of her face which only accentuated her bone structure which cast shadows on her face when the light of the fire flickered over it. She was just getting into an interesting article about the latest trend on the catwalk when she was interrupted by a familiar voice. ‘Ephemera? Polly Ephemera?’ she looked up, her deep red eyes framed by black eyeliner. With an endearing smile, she bolted up to crouch on the arm of the chair, sending Jimmy hurtling off her lap with a yelp. ‘Harlequin Jones! Oh my God!’ She laughed loudly, wrapping her arms around his neck and almost hanging off him (if it weren’t for her long legs). The pair laughed until he pulled her off of him to look at her. ‘Now I knew there was something magical about you!’ he laughed. Polly’s grin was huge, but she couldn’t avoid the jealous glares of some of the older girls in the room. Polly met Harlequin back in the old days when she was still modelling in the states; she had done a couple of shoots with him and stayed friends until he lost contact with him when he moved abroad. ‘How come I haven’t noticed you here before baby!? I never knew you were magic!’ He grinned ‘Yeah I know, I’m in my fifth year here, part time you know, so I can work? I’ve just got back from Romania. Plus I’m not even in this house, I’m in Hadinas.’ He looked around a little ‘our common room’s better…’ she smiled ‘You haven’t changed a bit have you?’ He smiled, looking her up and down ‘You never did wear any clothes. Cover yourself up and have a nice Christmas.’ With a pat on the head and a kiss on the cheek, he turned, a group of people following him out of the room. Polly frowned she was left alone again, on Christmas, like every Christmas. Looking about the room, nobody so much as battered an eyelid towards her, she was friendless and in lack of a family. Kicking on a pair of brown boots and a large knitted cardigan, she left the room, wondering through the corridors, she soon found herself in the library, sitting down in an enclosed room made out of bookshelves she picked out a book from a shelf, a book she had often read. Flicking it to an often read page, she glanced her eyes down. ‘Werewolves.’ She whispered with a frown.

With Agni’s relief, she completely forgot about covering herself up, their bare skin pressed up against each other as he held her. She closed her eyes, trying to control her breathing from the shock she just had. Soon she calmed down, slowly drifting off into a deep sleep. Agni was woken in the morning by the creaking of snow on the roof, her eyes bolted open to the dim light of what must have been the morning. Looking down, she could only see Jacob’s chest and his strong arms wrapped around her. Her face flushing a bright shade of pink, she wriggled herself free from him and stood up facing him. She frowned, thinking of what her father would think if he saw her. Her face then softened, a small smile coming across her face. ‘You are cute when your mouth is shut.’ She muttered with a smile, then turning, picking up her top and jacket and pulling them on. She then dropped to her knees and routed through her rucksack. It was only a few moments before she heard Jacob rustling about behind her. She turned around with the sound of his voice ‘You brought your wand?! What would happen if a deformis saw it? You are so irresponsible.’ She muttered, pulling out a small paper bag. She listened to his excitable chat for a moment before standing and throwing his jacket at him. ‘Are you an imbicille? Put your jacket on before you die. Zut alors.’ She muttered before looking at him. ‘Oh, I have something for you… but it is back at my house…’ she was less optimistic about escaping, they could have been hundreds of metres under the snow, and there was no way they could use any sophisticated magic, mostly because she was useless at magic and he was asking her for advice or ideas meaning he wasn’t any better. ‘Oh et… joyeux noel.’ She said with a slight sniff. She would have most probably be at work, but still the deformis were always kind to her, giving her Christmas bonus’ or little presents. Then she would later go home to be with her father and open her presents and then cook them a delicious dinner of root vegetables. Just as she was about to lose hope however, she picked up a noise. ‘Shhh.’ She said sternly, walking over to the door, and then the chimney. ‘Can you hear that?’ she exclaimed ‘no, no your ears are not refined… Shush!’ her heart lifted at the sound, elated, she began to whistle. ‘Bernard! Here!’ soon, the barking could even be heard by human ears, and then a low scratching before a babble of noise. Excitedly, she grabbed onto Jacob ‘Jake Jake!’ Soon, the snow began to be broken through, until finally, the door burst open and a huge mountain dog followed by hoards of search and rescue crew, including their families. ‘Agni?’ ‘Papa!’ she cried, spotting her father at the door, without more of a thought for anything else, she ran up to him, tears of gratitude streaming down her face. Soon however, the pair were whisked off by paramedics. Sat in the medical tent, Agni looked at Jacob. ‘Are you okay?’ she asked as one of the medics was checking his heart rate with a stethoscope. She gave a weak smile, knowing that she had probably ruined his holiday. The paramedics started to ask him questions, but she halted them ‘Il est l'anglais, voulez-vous metraduire?’ she asked, the medic looked at her for a moment before smiling ‘Non, non, il est bon d'aller. En dehors del'hypothermie mineure, il est bien.’ She smiled back ‘He tells me that you are fine Jacob, but you must have something warm to drink when you get back. Pouvons-nous aller maintenant?’ she asked, getting up ready to leave, however a hand came down on her shoulder to stop her ‘attendez un instant ... vous êtes un peu anémique, j'ai peur de vous dire, vous aurez donc besoin de venir avec nous à l'hôpital.’ She looked up to him with concerned eyes. ‘Jacob, can you get mon papa please?’ she looked to him ‘No, they… they want to take me to hospital and they, well they cannot… please…’ Her father was called for to argue her case, finally, they let her go, the main rod of the argument being that she was a vegetarian and so it was natural for her to be anaemic.
Getting back to the chalet, the pair were sat around with blankets and hot drinks. The staff shared their concern for Agni seeming as they knew how young she was and her terrible fear of being buried alive, she hated the fuss however, insisting that she go home.

Christmas morning in the castle was loud and exiting, Cael however, wasn’t in the lease bit exited. He was always greeted with heaps of presents, wrapped by department stores and chosen by personal advisers, nothing was personal, not even the card was signed personally. He opened each glossy black box topped with golden ribbons with care, making sure to keep all the wrapping paper for something later. He had a pile of sportswear, a pile of food and a pile of clothes; however his favourite present was a date for a wand fitting within the next few days. Wands were perishable, and most had to be upgraded at some point, however once you reached a certain age you could qualify for a permanent wand, one that you could make a connection with. If you were really rich, wand fittings were customary, they would be made and designed especially for the client and Ludovic had been waiting for his time for years. Amongst all the excitement of the morning, Cael’s eyes flickered over to Felicity, she was sat on the floor opening her second present. It was wrapped in elaborate paper that melted as soon as the intended receiver touched it. Her gift was revealed and her face said it all. He had persuaded one of the girls in her dorm to fetch him her endurance top and sent it off to his personal tailor a week previous so they could fir the top exactly to her measurements. The back was fitted with solid silver, elaborate hook and eye fastenings and a sealable strip of fabric that worked like the Venus fly trap, when touched, would attach itself to the over piece of fabric, therefore sealing the wearer in for streamlined movement. It was waterproof but and fireproof to an extent. Most of all however, it was expensive, he spared no expense. A hint of a smile played on his lips as he saw her reaction, of course as she look around, he downed his head, donning his trademark scowl.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Sat Mar 03, 2012 9:11 am

Jacob, half delirious from the excitement of being out of the cabin hardly looked back to Agni as the search and rescue crew practically bundled her, alongside her father who looked as if he were about to cry with joy. Jacob looked around to see if any of his family had been looking for him; about to be disheartened, Tony and Martin came around the other side of the half-covered cabin with grins. Though Martin was not as enthusiastic, both brothers grabbed Jacob and hugged him tightly. “What the hell?” They both laughed at their younger brother and followed the search party back towards the cabin where the pair were chucked in front of a roaring fire with blankets, though it only looked as if Jacob needed them, only just regaining the little colour he had. As people came and went looking after Agni, Jacob looked over to his mother and father who were sat talking in hushed tones, looking over to Jacob and then back towards each other. His mother waved and mouthed whether he was okay, but of course she knew he had been relatively okay, it was a connection between families; they had known all along that he was alive so weren’t as enthused as the demorfis and other creatures who couldn’t have foreseen this. He didn’t really know what to say to Agni after all of this, instead he just smiled at her as they sat there, Jacob was surprisingly tired and as soon as he was given the all clear he decided to go to his room. Standing up his hand drifted over Agni’s, he smiled ‘see you around?’ but shuffled away before she could really reply, he was still a little embarrassed about what she had seen him do and was sure that she would think he was a freak or something. His family wasn’t much for Christmas day either as it wasn’t celebrated by shades in the majority, far too cheery. Jacob carefully climbed the stairs and upon finding his room he collapsed into a boiling hot bath and closing his eyes. He didn’t realise how tired he was until he had the chance to lay somewhere where he was safe. He spent an hour making sure he was clean before walking into the main of his room with only his towel wrapped around his waist towards the plants that Agni had given him and broke off a few leaves and tried to remember the instructions she had given him. He lay on the double bed with his eyes heavy, it wasn’t even midday.

Now that Felicity had opened what little presents she had received she stood up, leaving the presents on the sofa and walked back upstairs, deciding to get dressed before going to the hall to eat. It was a sort of rule at home that everyone was to presentable at the table, this also applied on Christmas day. She came back downstairs and picked up her book and new shirt, carrying them to the hall as well, reading the book whilst eating a bowl of colourful puffed rice with her fingers, they looked as if there were enough E numbers to sent a centaur over the edge, but she wasn’t in the confines of her parents and decided to eat what she wanted for a change, to hell with her strict diet. There weren’t that many people in the hall at all. There were a few professors at the front of the room eating quietly to themselves or laughing with another professor. It was so quiet in the hall that Felicity felt a little awkward sat on her own and quickly befriended a fourth year and listened to his ramblings about his exams after the holidays and how he wasn’t getting any time to have any fun, it was obvious that he was being suggestive but even on Christmas day Felicity decided to play innocent and wind him up, she paid special attention to the older boy when Ludovic entered the room. She had had a spark of jealousy that morning at the sight of all his presents.

James sat in his office, a glass of fire whiskey in hand, it had to be midday by now, and he had been up for what seemed like hours. He couldn’t stand being alone on Christmas day and the thought of being surrounded by the few lonesome and needy teachers that had been left behind was just as depressing. He was going to do something constructive, enjoyable, but constructive. He had some books to return to the library and then the rest of the day he would sit in there and draw. It was a talent of his that he had never fully been able to realise. Dressed in a slightly more relaxed fashion, a soft cotton tee-shirt that buttoned half of the way down and a pair of well fitting jeans, he assumed that the fires would be on in the Library and sat in the restricted sections he was sure not to be disturbed. But something surprised him, no librarians were on duty today at all, it was only one of the small gremlin-type creatures that was taking the books on the desk, after that the library seemed near enough silent. He decided to put his own books back as it was Christmas and had to walk all the way towards the centre but turning the corner into the large circular centre he started to see Polly sat reading. “Happy Christmas, healing well?” He smirked putting a book away but turning around nearly fell to the floor. “Haha.” He grabbed onto the shelf for support. “Very funny.” He kept an eye as he walked past Polly, not thinking to ask why she was alone. “Shame we can’t be study buddies, hey?” He left the other side of the circular centre an wend behind the tall door of the restricted section and sat himself down between two closely positioned shelves and pulled open a large old looking book, his sketch book from when he started as a professor and began to draw away magical creatures, but whilst losing himself in this he suddenly realised what Polly had been reading, it puzzled him to think that a student would we studying on Christmas day, but he was well aware that Polly was far from the average student, he grinned.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Sat Mar 03, 2012 9:12 pm

Polly was just getting into interesting folklore when she was rudely interrupted by James making a comment about her wounds, seeming as they were substantial, she decided to not only ignore his festive words, but to trip him over. A twisted smile curled across her perfectly sculpted lips as he fell into a bookshelf, the pain of her ankle being substituted for humour. She raised an eyebrow at his comment; her wet hair clung to her long neck as she turned to watch him go, water droplets running down the skin of her collar bones. Her scarlet eyes flickered from down to her book, to the door which housed the restricted section. Sighing, she stood; closing the heavily bound book and picking herself up carefully from the chair, making sure that she didn’t bust herself up any further. She knew that the professors had been warned about her unsubstantial story as to the night of the attack, giving her cause for conversation. Kicking open the heavy door to the restricted section, she pulled out her wand from the brown leather holster that was strapped to her thigh, flicking it delicately and lighting up the lanterns in the room dimly. They soon lit up Professor Sparrow who was working by candlelight. ‘Aren’t you supposed to be keeping an eye on me?’ she muttered, dropping the book down on the wooden desk. ‘You know, because I’m a liar and everything, because my story doesn’t add up because I’m a troubled young woman.’ she paused, sitting down and opening her book again, running her perfectly manicured nail down the old page. ‘I’ve heard it all before.’ She muttered. ‘Merry Christmas.’ She hadn’t expected everything to come out so bitterly, then again seconds before he had turned up, she had been contemplating torching the entire library. Changing her tone, she looked up to the older man. ‘Are you drawing?’ she smiled her eyes briefly glazing over, ‘your mother said that she always loved your drawings.’ Coming back into focus, she dropped her eyes to her book again as if nothing had happened. ‘What was what?’ she murmured, catching his eyes and piercing them with her glare, daring him to press the matter further. Leaning back in her chair, she lifted her feet up on the desk, her long tanned legs bare, still looking at him. ‘you could draw me, but there’s not enough graphite in that pencil for my legs.’ She said, more as a matter of fact than anything provocative.

Finley woke up in the morning to his brothers and sisters exited squeals and shouts, pulling on a pair of lounge pants, he trenched down the stairs to be greeted with a tree that touched the ceiling, decorated with popcorn strings and cinnamon oranges. Underneath was piled various coloured tartan wrapped packages, all with golden bows delicately placed on the top, he smiled seeing the children’s faces, having wrapped some of them with his mother only the night before. His deformis father sat in his faithful armchair with his wife perched on his lap, the vision of happiness as they watched their children’s amazement at the new gifts they had received, Angus and his wife Kira were sat on the floor by the tree with their new born Henry who seemed to be overwhelmed by everything that was going on. After all the presents had been opened apart from a small pile in the corner, Stewart finally managed to join them, instead of dressed in his pyjama’s as everyone had expected however, he was wearing a rather smart shirt and jean combo, his hair combed and his rough stubble shaved. ‘Yooh goin’ oot son?’ asked their large bear of a father to his second born whilst sitting by the fire, delicious smells of roast wafting in from the kitchen. ‘No,’ he grunted, ever the melancholy soul, even if it was Christmas. At that exact moment, there was a knock on the door, before anyone could even think about answering it; Finn’s older brother had snatched at the chance. Pulling the wooden front door open, they were greeted with the sight of a heavily dressed, yeti-like being. As she stepped inside however, it became apparent that instead of being the snow covered creature Finn had taken her for, she was in fact Stewie’s long term girlfriend who had trekked there through the snow to be with them. Finn was at that point sat on one of the various mismatched sofas in the small family room, watching everything unfold. Stewart helped Kenzie unpeel her scarf, hat gloves and various other snow laced woollen outerwear until she was stood in the room with a small backless dress and a pair of leggings, her brown hair pinned back off her shoulders. ‘Morning everyone.’ She smiled in a cheery tone. It always bemused Finn how someone as grumpy and life-hating as his brother, could bag a lass as hot and cheery as her. She went to sit on the sofa before noticing Finn ‘Oh… hello Finley…’ he smiled at her slightly aghast face. ‘Morning Kenzie,’ however before he could say anything else, his brother had already turned round. ‘Fer God’sake man, go put yer clothes on!’ he exclaimed, his face slowly turning red. Finn enjoyed winding up his sod of a brother every last bit, and embarrassing him in front of his girlfriend was always his favourite game ‘What if I de’nae want to?’ Their father also laughed at Finn’s game, however Stewart wasn’t finding it any funny ‘Come oon Finley boy, Stewie is obviously intimidated by yer body’ Angus jived, being a great fan of watching Stewie explode also. The middle boy was literally shaking in rage. ‘Yooh’ll go put yer clothes on if I have to turn yer face inside oot, I swear…’ ‘Okay okay!’ Finn exclaimed as his brother was about to grab him, getting up. He looked to Kenzie, winking at her before walking towards the stairs, then getting a shoe in the back of the head for pushing it.
When Finn arrived back downstairs, everyone had gathered back in the family room to watch Stewie and Kenzie open their small pile of presents. The kids were excitedly helping Kenzie pull open each one until finally they were all opened. Finn sat with his youngest brother on the floor, now with a white top to satisfy his brother. The pretty young addition looked around the floor with a bemused face ‘Did… did you not get me anything Stewie?’ she asked with a small voice, looking up to him. ‘He shrugged ‘Nope.’ His mother’s shrieks at her boy’s plain rudeness were enough to chastise him, let alone the dejected face of his four year girlfriend. ‘Hold on…’ he grumbled ‘I think I did actually…’ he stood up, Kenzie standing with him as he rooted through his back pocket, finally pulling out a small red-velvet box. ‘Kenzie Ann Wilson…’ he said, the sadness turning into shock and excitement from the woman, a gasp escaped from all the women in the room as the oldest homebound boy dropped on one knee. He opened up the box, tears now welling up in his eyes (a rare sight) ‘Will you marry me?’

Cael spent most of the morning organizing his presents into piles and carrying them up to his room to store them away until he needed them. It soon came to lunch however; he dressed himself in a crisp white shirt and a pair of ironed jeans before walking into the hall. He had literally no friends from his group thee at the castle; they had all been whisked away on exclusive, exotic holidays or expensive family Christmas’. Sitting on his own at the spot of the table that he usually did, he couldn’t help but let his eyes wander over to where Felicity was publicly toying with a fourth year, quickly dropping his eyes to his bran flakes every time she looked up, finally, out of risk of looking like a complete friendless git, he picked up his plate, and walked over to where they were sat. ‘Good morning Yates. Moran. May I sit here.’ It was a statement more than a question, but the exited fourth year answered for both of them anyway. He sat, opposite the two of them, viewing the room from that end of the table before proceeding to eat his bowl of boring. When somebody commented on the plainness of his breakfast, he looked up, staring Moran in the eye. ‘If I eat a balanced breakfast in the morning, I can enjoy carbohydrates in the evening.’ He muttered, his face full of scowl, he knew that he was probably to be laughed at, but he was used to it with Finn. Speaking of Finn, as he was near enough finishing his bowl a package was delivered to him by a post gnome. He collected it, exchanging a small fee before looking at the note -

‘fout u migt b lonely. Got 4 u. Enjoy. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! ’

Cael’s face twitched in a half smile, both at his appalling spelling, and at the fact that he knew his friend with be enjoying himself more than any other time. Unwrapping the cello taped together paper with a charm, he was left staring at ‘A blow up doll. I’m going to kill him.’ Somebody obviously found it hilarious however, as the sniggers from the other side of the table told him while he was spreading marmalade on his brown toast as an extra treat for Christmas. However whilst trying to enjoy his toast, he was soon bombarded by brightly coloured rice puffs. ‘What… what are you doing? Stop that. Desist! Immediately! Don’t you know anything! I’m going to procure secondary flab from you if you keep doing that!’ he was soon showered with a handful of the beasts, his face less than amused. He waited until she proceeded to eat before throwing a slice of marmalade toast, it being a perfect shot and sticking to the side of her milky-white face. ‘I was doing what should have been done a long time ago.’ he exclaimed before dodging three rashes bacon, the fourth hitting his clean, white shirt. The room went silent, the fourth year already removing himself to a safer distance. Cael stood, hands gripping the table in sheer anger. ‘You pathetic, miserable, worm.’ He growled, a face to rival thunder ‘You overgrown… leprechaun!’ he threw a tangerine at her, narrowly missing, the grease of the bacon slowly seeping in to his designer threads. ‘You’re not allergic to fruit! You’re allergic to exercise… oh yeah, then how come you wobble when you walk!?’ He could feel the bacon on his skin now, pointing down to it angrily he shouted ‘Look at me! Look what you have done! Now due to osmosis, I’ll probably get fat. LIKE YOU!’ That was the last straw, the next thing he knew, he was knocked to the floor, Felicity on top of him, straddling his chest with her hands around his neck in a vice like grip, screaming blue murder. He would have been strangled if it weren’t for his wand in his pocket, pulling it out; he aimed it at her, a blast of red light exploded from the tip, sending her flying across the room. He stood, brushing himself down, straightening his collar, and leaving the room to have a cold shower, taking his inflatable doll with him.

Agni was soon whisked away from the lodge, given a day free from work and more if she needed it, even though she insisted on staying, her father was fussing. ‘It must have been so scary; I wish I was there for you, what exactly happened? Good job the hut was there, did you lose your board?’ ‘It was, I had Jacob, there was an avalanche, and yes it was lucky the hut was there, my board is gone.’ He took her back to the pink chalet where they lived for most of the year; she had painted it herself a few years ago given the freedom that she could choose any colour she liked. Walking into the front room, it was decorated with many glass ornaments celebrating Christmas, all sparling from the light streaming through the windows. She smiled, taking a deep breath in, no longer the feeling of claustrophobia hanging over her. It was late when her father decided to go to bed, leaving her downstairs with her thoughts. The morning came and despite her wishes, her father booked another day off work for her, perhaps including a swim at the spa later. She sat, watching him leave in his light blue pickup for work, a box of sugar mice on her lap. Munching on an ear of one of them, she stood up, her pale legs covered by a pair of denim shorts and a huge white tee-shirt. About an hour into her morning, whilst she was cooking some breakfast, a knock came at the door. Putting down the frying pan and turning off the heat, she cleaned her hands on the bottom of her shirt and opened the door. ‘Oh!’ she exclaimed, her face turning red upon seeing Jacob. ‘Should… should you not be warming up?’ her house was incredibly warm due to a charm her father placed over it. She invited Jacob inside, sitting him down inside the kitchen. ‘I would ask if you had a nice Christmas, but I fear I may have ruined it for you.’ She muttered after having thinking about it the night before. Cracking some more eggs into the frying pan, she looked to him over her shoulder ‘I am cooking you breakfast, no it is too late, it is in the pan now.’ She smiled, never having been good with charms but being very practical with her hands. ‘You do not celebrate Christmas?’ she exclaimed, totally shocked ‘but that is so sad!’, now plating up the fried eggs and bread and handing them to him. ‘Then you do not want my present?’ she asked, both in concern and teasing, standing to eat. ‘Yes I have you a present. Two actually. But seeming as you do not celebrate Christmas…’ she smiled at his enthusiasm ‘okay okay, I shall go and get them, if you stay here. And eat your food.’ She put her plate down on the table before lightly trapping up the stairs to rifle through her trunk from school, finally she found the small package, it was a box made out of the blue paper she had written his note in back at Astoneara, she hadn’t charmed it this time however, wanting to actually see him open it. She came back into the kitchen, the tiny silver bells on her anklet jingling as she walked. ‘You ate my food too?’ she asked, looking at her now empty plate. ‘It is okay, I have my sugar mouse.’ She picked up a pink one from her box before sliding his present over to him. ‘There you are.’ She smiled, watching him open it. Inside was a beaded necklace, most of the beads were black, but the rest were silver. In each bead were carved tiny elven symbols and it was all threaded together with thin silver wire. ‘It, it is not a lot but, well, the silver beads are made from the condensed flower you were given in herbology in first term, I mixed it with the crystals found in the caves up here to make it durable. Instead of giving luck for the day, it should hold onto its luck for decades…’ it had taken her ages to do; she spent a lot of evenings in her father’s workshop. ‘The black beads? They are made from your belladonna plant, to help you sleep… although it is called by another name… deadly night shade… which I think is more fitting… ironically… It means you do not need the plant as such. Oh oh!’ she said, her excitement picking up again as she leaned over the table to point at the beads ‘This, this is your name in elven, and this is my name in elven, that is clever no? I did think so.’ She paused for breath ‘so, do you like it?’ his response was more than she could ask for, and a good excuse for eating her eggs.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Tue Mar 06, 2012 11:57 pm

Perry tossed and turned the whole night, he was so excited about Christmas, it were as if he was a small child again, even in the knowledge that it was his parents who were buying all of his gifts, he still loved he festive season. When the sun was peering over the Mediterranean foot hills of his parent’s island he decided that it was time to go downstairs and to his delight his younger sister was already up too, waiting for his parents to get dressed and come downstairs. Squeals of delight echoed though the well lit villa as the candlelight illuminated mountains of presents, taller than themselves, the wrapping paper an absolute assortment of colours and just like his eight year old sister, Perry got stuck straight in. It could have taken any ordinary child hours to go through so many gifts but for Perry he tore through them all, his cheeks actually hurting from all of the excited smiles. “Oh mummy!” He cried with delight on seeing the one present that he had wanted the most. A new broom. It was the latest model out but was especially commissioned for him, carved out of enchanted mahogany and his initials engraved by the top. It was certainly a brilliant day for the whole family. But best of all, Larissa and her family were to join them for dinner later that day. After the initial excitement Perry went back upstairs, gnomes carrying the endless train of gifts behind him towards his bedroom. He ran himself a bath to make himself more presentable for later on.

James had smirked at the sound of the restricted area door being opened with force, he could tell Polly had followed him in. He listened to her sly and bitter words. “I never said that I didn’t believe you...” He half smiled, only looking up for a moment from his drawing. It was true that he had never said anything against Polly, he wasn’t sure about the whole situation and he did think that the young Irish first year wouldn’t have been capable of organising a large gathering on her own but it did seem that some of the professors were trying to pin the incident on that they perceived to be a ‘lost cause’ James had more faith than that in Polly, even if he wasn’t going to out rightly say it to her or the other professors. However as they continued to talk Polly unnerved him somewhat. His expression becoming a little more agitated at the girl’s games, especially when his mother was involved. He looked up at her as to question what was going on but the look he was given before he could open his mouth was more than enough to kill the conversation dead in its tracks.“Not enough graphite you say?” He leant back, she had said it is such a way that made her impossible to read, but at the same time it made reading her all the easier. He simply raised an eyebrow and gently drawing his wand from his pocket James waved it over the table besides his paper and three other pencils appeared, he looked down to them and then to Polly with a smile. “I’m sure I could manage.” Without saying another word he turned the page of his book and began to draw the young woman before him, he didn’t look up often, when he did it wasn’t to observe her body, rather he looked straight into her eyes for several moments at a time.

Felicity was just about to go with the fourth year when none other than Ludovic wandered there way, she rolled her eyes ready to tell him where he could go exactly but her new male friends was far too eager to climb a social ladder and invited him over gladly. There was an awkward silence after that; Felicity knew exactly how to deal with that. “Enjoying that bowl of cardboard Whitehall? How festive...” Felicity raised her eyebrow at him, the fourth year a little surprised by her comment. But Ludovic’s reaction wasn’t really enough for Felicity, she rolled her eyes and looked back down at her own food, laced with E numbers, but when she looked up to see the present he had been delivered she nearly spat out a whole mouthful of food everywhere, chocking a little in the process with stifled laughter. But Ludovic remained quite composed after this as well, she decided to be blatantly irritating, for the sake of her own amusement. (Without watching her family trying to remain formal when drunk there wasn’t much entertainment). Picking up one rice-puff she placed it on her thumb and flicked it at Ludovic, not trying to conceal the fact that she was doing it. ‘What… what are you doing? Stop that. Desist! Immediately! Don’t you know anything! I’m going to procure secondary flab from you if you keep doing that!’ She grinned and picked up a handful of them and leant across the table, sprinkling them like glitter over him. Satisfied, she went back to eating the few she hadn’t wasted. But before she ate the third, she was assaulted by a piece of toast. “urgh!” She froze, peeling the toast from her face, a pale orange residue left behind. “What... are you doing!?” ’I was doing what should have been done a long time ago.’ “Oh really?” Grabbing at the fourth year’s plate she continued to assault Ludovic with bacon, the fourth rasher hitting him right on target. ‘You pathetic, miserable, worm.’ He growled, a face to rival thunder ‘You overgrown… leprechaun!’ “Ha!” But the peeled tangerine hitting her was enough to make Felicity stand and sneer at him, voice like thunder. “You idiot, I am ALLERGIC to oranges!!” You’re not allergic to fruit! You’re allergic to exercise… oh yeah, then how come you wobble when you walk!?’ “You dick!” The whole room was staring at the two now, she was beginning to shake with rage as he continued to talk, to publically humiliate her. ’ I’ll probably get fat. LIKE YOU!’ That was the final straw for Felicity, with all her might she launched herself over the wooden table and tackled Ludovic to the ground. Her hands instantaneously around his throat, her nails digging in to him with no mercy, her grip was vice like in anger. “How... dare... you...fascist... bourgeois... fucking... pig!!” It probably would have been possible for her to render Ludovic unconscious if it weren’t for his use of a charm. Sliding several foot from where she landed Felicity was immediately met by two teachers who grabbed her by both arms, insisting that she calm down. Being taken out of the hall by another exit she was made to sit in one of the rune studies professor’s office for an hour to stop her from chasing after Ludovic and again attempting to rip him to shreds.

He wasn’t sure how long he had been drawing Polly for; it could have been a matter of forty-five minutes or three hours forty-five minutes; the library’s light didn’t change and not carrying a time piece he could only go by how much he had drawn, nearly complete he added the glints of light that reflected in her slicked hair. He was impressed with his work, looking at it for a moment but choosing not to sign it like the rest of his work. Running his wand along the seam of his the book the page detached itself perfectly. Turning it face down he looked up to Polly. “I have to check on the Hadinas house common room.” He stood and left with his book in hand, the drawing left in Polly’s possession.

Jacob woke up the next morning; he hadn’t slept so well in a long time, even if as always he had woken from a terrible dream, he still felt far better than he had done in a long time. When getting dressed and going downstairs, his father, youngest sister and middle brother Martin were sat by the fire reading storybooks or the latest deformis news, telling Jacob that his mother and Tony had gone skiing allowed Jacob some freedom to go and walk, he was dressed for it this time. After a while he decided to go and find Agni, she had told him before about their pink house so after a couple miles of walking the house wasn’t hard to find. Knocking at the door, Agni’s face of surprise was one that made him grin. “I’m fine Agni, how are you feeling, that’s what I wanted to know.” Walking into the kitchen, Jacob quickly peeled off the several thermal layers he had on over his other clothing “Oh, Agni you didn’t, trust me, we don’t even celebrate Christmas really, our family, our father doesn’t particularly approve.” He looked around the room to see how it was decorated, it looked lovely. “Breakfast? Oh Agni I’m fine really… oh okay…presents you say?” His smirk became a grin “I’m sure I could get away with a few…oh come on…” He leant in closer. “Yay!” Eating his food, he was suddenly given an appetite and quickly managed the remaining food before she arrived back with a gift. “Ooo.” He opened it carefully and was surprised by what was inside; she let Agni explain it before he looked to her with the most genuine smile, it practically lit his entire face “It’s absolutely wonderful Agni, I love it.” He paused and looked around the room, now a little nervous. “You see, I do have something for you as well, it isn’t really much at all but…” He couldn’t really find any words to say so instead gently took a hold of Agni’s hands and leant into her, making sure that she wasn’t trying to pull away from him his lips brushed against hers. He stayed there for a moment, it seemed like a wonderful eternity, and a rush surged through him. Pulling away he let go of her hands and suddenly didn’t know where to look. “Merry Christmas Agni.”

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:55 am

Polly had sat for who knows how long waiting for him to finish, her hair was almost dry, and almost noticeably longer. Her eyes never left his face, the red, piercing stare boring into him, saying everything and nothing all at once. After an age, he stood, making some excuse and leaving her alone with the page that he had just finished. She sat there a while, wondering if he would come back. Knowing that he probably wouldn’t, she reached across the table and flipped over the parchment in her long fingers, viewing the almost photograph like drawing. She grunted at his talent, before muttering to herself ‘wishful thinking’ upon seeing the size of the breasts. Folding the paper into a small square, she slipped it into her back pocket before making her way back to the common room, a smile on her promiscuous face.

Cael had made sure to write an angry letter telling of the morning’s happenings to Finn, explaining his anger and frustration; he got one back surprisingly quickly.
‘Yo home boy, sounds like fun; I’d love her to cover me in bacon. Anyway, if you want my momma says you can come visit us for a couple days if you want? Mail me again when you’re on the train
Finn’

Reading the brief letter, he sighed, being the youngest of his family, Cael had never to endure the trials of children so it was always a struggle for him to visit with Finn and his family, not to mention the cold and remoteness of Scotland, however it would be better than spending the holidays alone, and he and Finn were almost unstoppable with the Scottish women. Deciding to think it over, he donned himself in a pair of high-end tracksuit bottoms, a zip-up jumper and knest shirt; he made his way out into the now, his trusty scarf wrapped around his mouth and neck. The white snow crunching under his trainer cladded feet, he soon found his way to a bare, solitary looking tree in the middle of a field. There were no branches, but there was nobody around but the birds, thinking for a second, he found himself sitting up in the tree, swinging his legs, looking out at the scenery. He loved being alone, when he was alone he was never judged or scrutinized. His siblings could have been made out of solid gold as far as his parents were concerned. More bourgeoisie than a jar of caviar, his parents only wanted the best, shown by his overly flamboyant name. The time passing by quickly, he had no idea what time it was when he felt another presence, looking down from his high branch, he spotted a familiar frame jogging past, looking around him for something to throw. He had a direct hit as the snow he had compacted broke against her back. He smirked, almost breaking out into a laugh if it weren’t for her spotting him. ‘Sorry, I slipped.’ He called, the half-smile lighting up his face, even if it was due to the suffering of somebody else. ‘What am I doing?’ he echoed at her question ‘Sitting.’ Her inquiring as to how he got up amused him, although she wouldn’t know why ‘I flew.’ He chided, watching her turn ‘No, wait a minute.’ He called, looking down below him and praying that he wouldn’t break anything. He wriggled to the edge of the branch, closed his eyes and pushed himself off, landing on his hands and feet like a cat. Standing from his incredible feat (never having trouble with jumping over walls himself) he ran his hand back through his hair, tightening his scarf and walking over to her. ‘I could use a jog.’ He muttered, stretching his legs out ‘I wasn’t asking.’
Finn lay on the long sofa groaning from the amount of food he had eaten, his hair curling at the bottom from him not having it cut in a while. Angus walked in the room, his new baby in his arms. He took one look at his brother and laughed. ‘You need to know where to stop my friend.’ He said in his deformis way. ‘I feel like a god.’ Grunted Finn, feeling ready to burst from the sheer amount of turkey alone.

Agni smiled broadly at his joy for the present; however he stopped her from speaking again by talking himself “You see, I do have something for you as well, it isn’t really much at all but…” Her large doe eyes opened a little wider ‘Oh! Oh what is it Jake? I do love presents. I will close my eyes!’ She closed them tightly, holding out her hands to him only to feel his hands fill them, her eyes burst open in confusion only for her lips to be greeted with his soft kiss. Her face instantly turned a deep shade of vermillion, but she didn’t pull away, staying there until he did. His remarks of merry Christmas were lost on her as her mouth stayed open like she was catching flies. ‘Je… uh… uh… oui?’ before she could stop it, a small giggle escaped her; she slapped her hand over her mouth only for more laughs to escape her. ‘I… I’m sorry…’ she managed to garble out before giggling some more. ‘No, no I am not laughing at you, I am sorry.’ She smiled, wiping a tear from her round eye ‘I was just thinking that you must have concussion!’ she giggled again. ‘No, no I am sorry Jake it was… It was…’ she thought of something to say, smiling a little sadly when she did ‘Well, I did spend a whole lot of time making this…’ she said, taking the necklace from him, standing and clasping it around his dark neck. ‘You are humouring the elf yes?’ she said with a small voice, her little hands on his shoulders. ‘I… I mean, why would you and… me…’ she trailed off, the house silent if not for the quiet ticking of a wall mounted clock. She backed up a little as he stood ‘I… I mean what I am saying is you are well…’ she looked up at his face, seeing the expression on it ‘O…okay, I will be quiet now…’ She waited for what he had to say on tender hooks.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Wed Mar 14, 2012 7:55 am

Felicity was finally let out of the empty classroom to continue with her Christmas day, she walked back through the now empty hall and back towards the Somery common room. She had never been one to pay attention to what others said about her appearance, at best anybody willing to comment on it usually had an insult thrown right back at them. But this time she felt a little differently, looking at her thighs as she walked thinking ‘do they really wobble?’ She had always thought herself as being at the peak of her fitness level. “Obviously jealous.” Felicity mumbled whilst trying to avoid stepping on any breakable present that was left on the floor, her presents had been left on her freshly made bed and the sight of the endurance top gave felicity an idea as to how she was going to spend her Christmas afternoon. She donned a pair of thick tracksuit bottoms, a pair of boots and her endurance top, all finished off with a zip-up thermal jacket and gloves. Melting in the heat of the fire Felicity quickly found her way outside to the lesser grounds of the school. She didn’t want to be running on stone as nearly all of the paths had iced over so decided that a little cross country wouldn’t do any harm. It was going well at first as she kept to a good pace, her breathing surprisingly relaxed, Felicity had left her hair down to keep her ears warm but stopped her from being able to see where her assailant had come from as she crossed a field, she called out in shock more than pain to hear a little snigger from above her. “What the hell? What are you doing?” She wasn’t impressed with his overly obvious answer and sighed, “Well how did you get up there then?” Again it seemed that Ludovic just wanted to mess around so she turned away ready to run on. A little peeved that he had invited himself along for her jog she rolled her eyes and mumbled ‘ I didn’t offer’ But regardless they went on in silence, Felicity focusing on her pace and breathing to notice Ludovic beside her but she did however notice as he began to push forwards and pick up his speed, she wasn’t going to have that at all and also picked up her pace to equal with him and continued to do so until she had slightly over taken him but it was apparent that Ludovic could quite easily keep up with her so decided to change her tactics a little. Looking to Ludovic out of the corner of her eye Felicity pretended to trip on something and in the process intentionally trip Ludovic and send him stumbling. With a grin she ran on, this time really exerting herself to try and get away from her team mate but she could quickly hear his footsteps and before she knew it the pair were on the snow covered ground, felicity having managed to turn onto her back to avoid falling face first was now pinned down by Ludovic, her breath literally taken away.

Jacob instantly regretted what he had done, he could have wished allowed for the entire earth to swallow him up where he was stood and never return. Her laughing felt like pin pricks, all over his skin. Jacob looked to the floor not really sure what to say, ’laughing at me…’ He whispered, his fingers interlinking and fidgeting uneasily as she placed the necklace around his neck. He didn’t say anything to fill the silence, he just looked around the room awkwardly until the front door burst open, her father stood there. Jacob suddenly became more animated, he turned back to Agni, and nodded to her. “Yeah, Merry Christmas! Bye!” And quickly rushed passed her father, wishing him a merry Christmas before flying out of the door and down the snowy slope to the path that would take him back to the lodge. On the way back he shouted out loud his personal displeasure in his own actions, kicking small piles of snow about in an attempt to make himself feel better. But getting back to the lodge it was as if his little sister had been watching him. “Why did you go and see the elf?” She inquired loudly, catching the attention of Martin who was having his hair forcefully braided and Tony who had just been ordering drinks from the bar. “The elf girl you say?” Tony grinned as he sat by his younger siblings. “Now why would you want to do that… come on… tell…” Jacob squirmed in his seat by the fire. “Just to see how she was, it was my fault that we got caught in that snow, I felt a little bad you know?” Tony, the only sibling to be unaffected by his father’s shade bloodline sat back. “Well, you were gone a pretty long time to just be seeing if she was all right, her papa was here earlier, and surely you could have asked him?” Jacob covered his face with an old French newspaper as his sister laughed, suddenly realising what must have gone on. “Oh Jacob how naughty! And with an elf girl! Daddy will be cross!” Jacob lunged towards his sister but Martin pushed Jacob back into his seat before resuming to staring vacantly into the fire, no longer protesting to his hair being messed around with. “You know daddy will be cross.” She grumbled, poking her tongue out her older brother. “He doesn’t like elves does he?” Jacob rolled his eyes. “You know he doesn’t Sophia, he is only civil because she goes to my school, you can’t say anything.” Jacob didn’t need this added complication, still crippled from Agni’s facial expression, he was sure that she was only being nice and he had screwed up.

Perry had a wonderful day with Larissa’s family at his house, they were the pinnacle of upper-class enjoyment, crystal ornaments were suspended mid air and reflected glimmers of light about the room, the adults were busy exchanging witty banter about the lower classes whilst the younger children had taken themselves outside to test their new toys in the snowless countryside Perry an Larissa however spent the remainder of the day over a bottle of wine together. “Have you spoken to Ludovic since?” Perry inquired as he read through the demorfis news, settling for any gossip whilst away from his classmates. “I see…” He rasied an eyebrow, he hadn’t realised that the middle class Irish girl posed any threat to Larissa. “He wouldn’t be interested in her in the slightest, he is most likely trying to protect his pride or reputation… not that he needs to, I’m sure enough witches and wizards would gladly take the blame for anything he did.” The pair smiled as Perry couldn’t resist but spread a little gossip he had heard from his mother a few months back. “You will never guess who her father is anyway…Críostóir Moran!” The pair let out a little shriek of excitement “Yes, the world duelling champion! Well he was…” The pair laughed cruelly. “Losing his title to that urchin was what did it daddy thinks, the shame just led him to the drink… doesn’t venture out of their costal home, her mother isn’t a part of the national endurance team either anymore, having to work somewhere department of magic, I can’t remember, something dreadfully strict and well paid.”

The weight of Ludovic on Felicity was infuriating but she couldn’t help but smirk as she tried to throw him off of her, only being able to push him off using the strength of her legs. Scrambling to her feet she nearly let out a small laugh; picking up a small handful of snow and rubbing it though his hair. “But that’s for getting my hair covered in snow...”

The next day started well of James, he was now sat in the hall with the rest of the remaining professors watching the students get over the fact that Christmas day had passed, he however was still feeling a little festive so decided to dress a little more casually than usual, though the obligatory tie and jacket were present, just the lack of a waistcoat and that he wasn’t in just black and white. But he had still some marking to do and thought it was a good idea to get it out of the way. “No doubt the ingredients need re arranging…” He thought aloud and decided that he would visit his classroom and get things in order. On the way back to his room to collect a few things and his wand he heard a few Professors talking rather angrily. “A female first year was seen leaving the professor’s bathing room on the fourth floor! And I can bet who it was.” James almost knew immediately but kept his mouth shut, expressed a false concern and continued to his room. After a while trying to fit what he needed into a relatively small bag, he took one of the school’s less used stairwells, near the back of building; he wasn’t surprised to see Polly there either. “Good morning Miss Ephemera.” He noted that her hair hand changed again, a smile peaking at the corner of his lips. “I trust you had a nice bath this morning? The water doesn’t cool quite so quickly on the second floor does it?” He raised a knowing eyebrow as he stood over her in passing. He didn’t say anything else and wondered if she knew how he knew; he reached his classroom and closed the door, the cool air was biting so after lighting a fire quickly with his wand James stood over his desk looking at a set of fifth year papers with a sense of a dread.

Post  Outrageous. Sun Mar 18, 2012 8:40 am

Ludovic set a reasonable pace, getting quickly bored as he never usually did on his own. Glancing over to her a few times, he smirked, knowing what he was going to do. He picked up his speed, watching everything unfold as she reciprocated his actions. Naturally, he soon overtook her, however just as a wave of superiority hit him, he was knocked to the floor by a leg and an elbow. He hit the snow, spitting a mouthful of it before pushing himself back up and running full pelt at the girl, intending to knest tackle her to the floor, however, she turned, he panicked and tried to stop but was running too fast ending in a full frontal collision, knocking them both to the ground. He lay on top of her in the snow, trying to catch his breath, however he soon found it more difficult as a burst of uncontrollable laughter. He pushed up off of her, his arms still either side of her. His laughter was strangely natural sounding, his face lighting up with it only making him all the more striking. He couldn’t put up any resistance as she pushed him off of her as he was too busy laughing, instead rolling onto his back and giggling some more before finally calming himself down as she began to walk off. ‘No no, wait…’ he sniggered, staggering to his feet and wiping the tears from his eyes. ‘I’m sor…’ he was just about to apologise when a handful of snow was rubbed into his hair. ‘Tell me you didn’t…’ he muttered, now taking on a deadly serious tone, as he felt the freezing water trickling down his neck however, he was little less than impressed. ‘That’s it! You asked for this!’ he exclaimed, grabbing her around the waist and lifted her into the air kicking and screaming. He then threw her to the ground and jumped on her, pinning her to the floor and grabbing a handful of snow. ‘Do you want it in your hair? No? My my, should a young lady be saying such words?… eat snow leprechaun!’ He exclaimed before shoving the snow into her mouth upon her next cry. With another grin, he got up, brushing himself down, looking at her still on the floor. ‘You’d better hope snow doesn’t have any calories Moran. A moment on the lips…’ he turned from her with a cruel smirk, totally unlike his laugh earlier.

Polly, after having a restless sleep the night James had given her the drawing, decided she would get up early to break into the second floor professor’s bathroom, having heard that they were pretty impressive. It was about five in the morning when she sneaked out with only a towel to her name. Her wand was strapped to her leg still, it being waterproof she always had it on her. Using a complicated unlocking charm, she finally got inside. Dropping her towel, she was impressed with how extravagant it was. Everything was copper, the bath was the size of a small pool and the taps were tiered so the water would gush in faster. After her bath, Polly wrapped herself in her small towel and intended on sneaking back to her room without being noticed, however that wasn’t to be as, as soon as she had locked the door of the bathroom again she was stopped by one of the older professors. ‘Yes?’ she asked, lazily turning to him. ‘W… what do you think you are doing!? That is the professor’s bathroom!’ She rolled her eyes before unfolding her towel, flashing the old wizard. ‘Suck it beardy.’ She exclaimed nonchalantly before running off down the stone halls.
Agni was confused by Jacob’s reaction, one minute he was kissing her and the next he was totally cold. She was about to say something more when her father walked in. ‘Peaches? Oh. Hello.’ He said, rather frostily whilst being faced with the large frame of the shade boy. “Yeah, Merry Christmas! Bye!” he uttered quickly, not waiting to get out of the door. Once it was closed, her father turned to her. ‘Who was that? And what was he doing in my house?’ he said rather sternly. ‘That was Jacob papa, my friend from Astoneara… he was the one in the avalanche remember?’ Her father wasn’t impressed. ‘And what was he doing in my house?’ Agni paused, thinking of something to tell him ‘he was checking if I was okay, but also making sure I would be at work tomorrow as his family are in need of some things.’ Her father raised an eyebrow ‘Is that so?’ he looked down to the two empty plates on the table ‘and you made him breakfast…?’ Agni laughed at her father ‘Papa! You worry too much! Do you not trust me?’ His face then seemed to soften ‘Yes, oh come here peaches’ he said, holding his arms out only for her to run into them ‘I was worried about you is all.’ After a while of talking, Agni had persuaded her father to let her go into work the next day, making her way up to her botany room, the floors and walls hardly visible for the amount of plants, she sat in her woven hammock, thinking about what had happened. She wondered if Jacob was okay, he had ran off pretty quickly, his aura darkening as he left, she wondered if she had said something wrong and what he meant of the kiss.

Polly had found herself sat on a spiral staircase in a less used part of the castle which she had decided to explore later on. Her hair was pulled up into a messy ponytail and she was wearing just a large woollen jumper and a pair of stunningly high black heels, her legs sprawled over several stairs. She was reading a book on the history of elves when she was interrupted by the familiar sound of footsteps. She didn’t look up until he said her name. “Good morning Miss Ephemera.” ‘Yes. It is.’ She mused, her mouth articulating every sound “I trust you had a nice bath this morning? The water doesn’t cool quite so quickly on the second floor does it?” she looked down to her book again with a smile ‘I had heard its especially nice at around 5am, on a Tuesday.’ She muttered in almost a whisper. Listening to him walk away, she smirked, a whole host of ideas popping into her head.

The next day came and Agni was already in the lodge before the sun came up, cleaning tables and vacuuming the carpets in her usual uniform. It had just gone ten when her boss came running up to her looking flustered ‘Agatcher! Agatcher… Eliza est malade, vous sont nécessaires dans le spa dès aujourd'hui! Tout de suite!’ she looked around worried for a minute before dropping the vacuum cleaner and running in a rather fairy-like way down the halls and staircases to the staffroom in the spa. She hurriedly pinned up her usual uniform, accidentally dropping her clothes in a puddle of water on the floor. ‘Zut alors…’ she cursed picking up the sodden clothes and hanging them up, switching to her white uniform, pinning her hair back and walking through the door to the spa reception only to be greeted by Jacob’s eldest brother. ‘Uh… Bonjour, what may I do for you this morning?’ she asked, casually recovering from the shock. ‘A massage… oui monsieur. Here is your robe and um after you are changed, yes well if you will walk this way.’ After he had emerged again, she nervously walked him down the corridor, opening the door to the twin massage tables. Being a jack of all deformis trades, Agni had gained her certificate in full body massage and other spa treatments when she was young; however she absolutely wasn’t expecting to have to practice her skills on Jacob’s brother. ‘If you would like to… yes…’ he had already began to take his robe off while she was still speaking, she averted her eyes in some kind of embarrassment, around the deformis, it wouldn’t have been so strange, but she tensed up around magical people. ‘And how is the pressure for you Tony?’ she asked, hurriedly apologising ‘I am so sorry Mr Elladora sir, it is just I have heard much about you already… it will not happen again…’ she noticed her pressure increasing, apologising again and continuing. ‘Yes, magic hands… it is a shame my real magic is not very good…’ she said laughing nervously, a hint of sadness in it. He wasn’t as muscular as Jacob, but a little taller.

Polly woke up at four in the morning the next day, her hair now long and in loose curls. Her previous partners had commented that it was like dating a different woman very night, and they couldn’t have been more right. She would have been called bipolar in the deformis world, but in this one, she was just mysterious and strange, something different that people were wary of. She pulled on her paisley silk dressing gown and tied it at the waist, her black leather wand holster strapped tightly to her naked thigh. She made sure to walk down the corridors lightly, being extra vigilant just in case there was anyone on guard. Thankfully, nobody seemed to be awake that early in the morning, so getting over to the room wasn’t too bad, getting in on the other hand was a different story, they had enhanced the charms on the lock, but all those years of breaking into drugs cabinets told her that sometimes a hairpin was more powerful than a wand. Clicking the door open and shutting it behind her. She hung up her dressing gown on one of the bronze hooks on the wall before flicking her wand at the tiered taps to set them all running at the same time. The pool-sized bath soon filled up, stepping in, her naturally tanned skin hitting the bubbled water, she slipped in her whole body, the warmth causing her to smile, remembering her home in America. She waited, having arrived a few minutes early, her long arms on the side of the baths, the water being black with the dark. She never noticed the dark, being able to see through it clearly was an ability of hers. Her hair was only wet at the tips where it was submerged, the rest of it waving gently around her collarbones covering the straps of her white string bikini. The flickering candle light bounced off her cheekbones as she waited; her blood red eyed staring at the door. As the large clock tower struck five in the courtyard, its dull bells signalling the time they would meet, the door latch clicked and it slowly began to open. A broad smile curled across her face, looking sinister in the lack of light. She looked at him, knowing that his eyes would still be adjusting and that he probably wouldn’t have spotted her yet. ‘You should eat more carrots.’

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Felicity grinned a little at Ludovic’s displeasure until she was picked up and her voice quickly got louder and louder.“Put me down!” She shrieked, shaking her arms and legs trying to push Ludovic off balance her accent getting heavier the more annoyed she got. “I mean it Whitehall! Put me down now!” Being abruptly dropped to the floor wasn’t what she had in mind and before she could push herself out of the deep snow Ludovic pinned her back down, she was quickly getting more and more irritated. “What are you doing? Get off of me you dick. arhh! I will fucking-.” She coughed and spluttered with the shock of the snow being shoved into her mouth, she felt a little sick and very nearly flew to standing as he got up off of her and was ready to beat the living daylights out of him but his last comment stopped felicity in her tracks, her face dropped a little in shock and instead of reacting she quickly gave Ludovic the finger and stormed off further into the school grounds to continue her run without him. She could have screamed bloody murder after what Ludovic had done and decided that he would pay for it. Her training session was intensified by anger and instead of going to dinner that evening Felicity stayed in the library reading up on a certain type of potion that was used in the medical ward from time to time. That evening after she had gotten all she needed together Felicity walked through the common room with a satchel in hand, she was still dressed in her training hear and when she caught sight of Ludovic she didn’t make eye contact and almost looked straight through him, it could have been mistaken for sadness but she was concentrating, not having brought the instructions with her and trying to remember the order of ingredients. She didn’t stop but went straight up into the bathing room of their dorm and locked herself into a cubicle, slowly mixing different ingredients together, a satisfied smile curling her lips.

James hadn’t really thought much about what Polly had told him the day before; he just assumed that she was somehow being sarcastic or perhaps trying to be, seeing as she was American. But as the small wall clock in his bedroom chimed four in the morning he found himself unable to sleep and extremely curious. Perhaps she wanted to meet with him. James sat up and sighed with confusion, surely it was a far too obvious place to meet and perhaps she was making him go to the baths just to laugh at his arrival. But despite all conflicting thoughts he decided that he would go along anyway and if she didn’t show up he would be able to draw himself a bath and relax before having to deal with any students, all who seemed to be hyperactive with the lack of lessons and sudden flux of sugar. He dressed casually, the same long shirt he had been wearing the day before and dark trousers he didn’t need to carry any of his things to the bathroom as they would already be there upon him entering the room all he had in his hand was his wand, he corridors surprisingly dark for the time of the morning; he couldn’t wait for winter to pass. He reached the second floor bathing room and quickly un-charmed the door and slipped in. It was even darker that normal in the room, a few candles lighting certain spots, he squinted as he noticed that the water was already run and looked in the direction of her voice. “I find the use of a few more candles or one’s wand does just the same.” He didn’t jump, he had half been expecting her to be there, but from where he stood she looked as if she were bathing in the nude, but again as the water rippled he saw the flash of her white bikini, undressing to his grey shorts he stood at the edge of the water now being able to see Polly a little clearer now, her hair seemed longer than before. But after a moment of silence James slipped into the water and with his arms resting either side of him on the edge of the bath he looked over to Polly on the other side of the water. “Why do you not just use the student bathing rooms, I’m sure they are just as empty now, especially at this time of year…” There was something oddly sinister about the way the pair looked in the dim candle light, just barely being able to see each other.

It was time for breakfast and Felicity was already sat at the table, she had set two glasses in front of her and put the potion in one of them and just hoped that Ludovic had something snide to say to her or fancied a round two from the breakfast before. Seeing Ludovic entering the hall she pulled the glass without the potion towards her and drank from it and kept her head down. She felt his presence in front of her and only looked up to raise an eyebrow at him slowly, it was obvious she was unimpressed about the day before, but as he sat and apologised publically in the hall she was quickly looking a little more alarmed and having second thoughts about him drinking the potion, feeling a little bad seeing as he had apologised in such a gentlemanly way. But the effects of the potion were fast acting and she could see his clothes quickly getting tighter and tighter. A small snigger grew into a giggle and felicity had to bite her lower lip to avoid falling into
hysterics. She quickly stood up and left the hall feeling satisfied, avenged and very amused.

Tony decided that he wasn’t going to babysit his younger sister that day and wanted to spend time unwinding from his job, gnomes constantly brining him updates and letters. So for the day he banned all talk of his departmental duties and walked down to the spa, there was no one around but in a couple of moments he was greeted by Jacobs friend dressed up like a masseuse. He smiled, “Hey there sweetheart, yeah a massage if you please.” He changed and de robed into very little and climbed onto the table. He hadn’t ever had a massage from an elf but Jacob’s friend seemed to be very good. “The pressure is perfect sweetheart, please my father is Mr. Elladora, you can call me Tony, and you’re hands are simply magic…”Tony grinned at her small conversation. “It’s just practise, trust me, you’ll do great one day.” Tony was cut off short as the massage room door opened. Jacob stood in the doorway looking a little flushed from the heat that came from the sauna next door; he was fully dressed in a dress shirt and jeans, looking around but not sure where to look. “Uh, Tony I know you said you didn’t..uh… want any work stuff but dad, he wants…” “Oh shh Jacob, come on, join us… Haha, no I’ll get you another masseuse, you’re alright to change in here yeah? I don’t want to get up, this girl is great!” Jacob could have died on the spot, not wanting to remove his clothes in front of Agni but another masseuse came in and saved him, guiding him to a room to get changed in, Jacob came back into the room in a few minutes and then de robed and climbed onto the table next to his brother but hid his face, no really replying to the masseuse of his brother, wanting to die of shame over and over again.”You know sweetheart, I went to your school and I was knest captain like Jacob, only ever lost a game once, isn’t that right Jake.” “Yeah Tony, you’re awesome.”

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Tue Mar 20, 2012 7:08 am

The youngest Whitehall boy got back to his room with a smile on his face, then collecting his things for the communal shower room shared between five private rooms. Once inside, he was almost glad it was empty, when full, it reminded him too much of prep school. Letting the water gush over his naked body, he thought of all the times he had struggled in his youth, his siblings always being in the limelight, he felt the need to match up to them, if not beat them completely. He got a name for himself, his family always laughed at his efforts, although he was rarely last, or wrong for that matter. His lean figure was indebted to years of trying to be physically better than his brother. Rigorous training day after day, month after month led him to become almost addicted to his self-image, to keeping fit and to pushing his body to the absolute limit. He suddenly thought back to Felicity, how he had publicly humiliated her in the hall and then proceeded with the jokes attacking her body image, he remembered when his siblings used to do it to him and frowned, feeling a funny emotion pang in his stomach, Finn had often told him it was called - guilt. He went to bed feeling restless, instead of sleeping he decided to go for a run through the snow, managing to get back at midnight for six hours of sleep.

Polly watched him undress with hungry eyes, “Why do you not just use the student bathing rooms, I’m sure they are just as empty now, especially at this time of year…” she looked straight into his eyes for a brief moment, testing who would look away first. ‘A tengu lives there.’ She muttered, as if it were a completely normal thing to speak of daemons in light conversation. ‘And what of you old man?’ she chided, slowly standing. ‘What brings you to the baths so early in the morning?’ the water rolled off of her perfectly formed body as she stood, watching every move he made. She reached down her thigh slowly, and pulled out her wand. It was unusual in the fact that it was waterproof, a lot of English wands weren’t. ‘Why did you come here?’ she whispered, slowly walking towards him, her wand dragging through the water. As it did, tiny orbs of blue light expelled from the tip, flying around in the water like fireflies, setting a dark blue glow about the room. She reached him, towering above him while he sat as she usually did with ordinary people standing up. ‘You work out old man?’ she asked pulling her wand up his chest and neck, pushing his face to the right with it, outlining his jaw with the tip. Suddenly, her eyes glazed over as she looked past him to the door. ‘Jimmy... no… Jay…Jamie… Jamie…’ she looked at him, her eyes now a milky red instead of having their usual clarity. ‘Nobody calls you James… Jamie… we call him Jamie…’ She blinked hark, gripping her temples with her slender fingers. She felt a little faint, her knees buckling under her weight, she caught onto his shoulders as she was about to fall, their faces now a breadth apart. ‘She’s following you…’ she whispered, her eyes still closed in the searing pain that shot through her head. She opened her eyes, staring straight into his. The air was tense, both waiting for the other’s next move.

Cael slept past his alarm, giving himself a small rest as he had ran the night before. He woke and dressed in a usual pair of cream trousers and a white shirt, never letting up on his appearance even if it was the holidays. He went down to breakfast, spotting Felicity he walked over to her, knowing full well that all of the eyes in the room were on him. An unusual amount of first and second year girls had stayed at Astoneara over Christmas; he had a terrible feeling that he knew why. He cleared his throat for her to look up to him. He avoided eye contact as he spoke. ‘I feel I need to apologise. I have acted terribly brash over the past few days, you are a young lady and you deserve to be spoken to like one. Everything I said was out of order.’ He looked to her now ‘completely out of order. I hope you accept my most sincere of apologies.’ He looked down to the table again, picking up the glass nearest him and taking a drink. It tasted terrible, of chocolate and full fat yoghurt mixed with fried eggs. He frowned, putting it down and about to ask her what it was when he noticed his fingers bloating to almost twice their size. ‘Wh…’ all his answers were soon answered as the girl he had just poured out all his years of etiquette on began to laugh at him, quickly leaving the room. He took a look at himself, his face turning a darker shade of pale before he exited the room, bashing into the leggy American as he did. ‘Yo Frat boy… ooosh… bad day huh?’ she muttered as he barged past her, his eyes mean and closed as usual.

“It’s just practise, trust me, you’ll do great one day.” Agni smiled at his reassuring words. ‘Oh, merci beaucoup Mr Tony sir… nobody has said such things before to me…’ She began to relax with Tony, he was less intimidating than his father, but didn’t half look like him, which gave her the shivers, thankfully he was face down. ‘Your job must be stressful no?’ she asked, apparently a hot subject ‘it is just your shoulders are knotted badly, stress knots they are called…’ she chatted, her delicate voice brightening the mood, that was until the door was opened, she turned her head to see Jacob, a person she really didn’t want to see her massaging their brother. She was feeling little more than embarrassed as he was in there, but when Tony invited him to join them, she very nearly died. Thankfully, saving the day was her colleague Remi, a French male masseuse who was usually off in the mornings. Remi looked over to her as he walked back in the room with Jacob, smiling to her, he apologised in French for ruining her party, she flushed red as Tony instigated the conversation once again in English. ”You know sweetheart, I went to your school and I was knest captain like Jacob, only ever lost a game once, isn’t that right Jake.” Jacob agreed with his brother. She admired the siblings, she had often wished she had a brother or sister to share things with; she would feel quite alone some times when her father was at work. She snapped back into the conversation ‘Is that true? Vous étiez un tricheur aussij'imagine ...’ she said, not wanting him to be offended, so speaking in French, knowing that Jacob’s French wasn’t amazing and hoping his brother’s wasn’t either. She glanced over to where Remi was working on the younger sibling, trying to control herself from not passing out. ‘Remi! Remi! Non!’ she exclaimed, hearing the small grunt of pain from her classmate. Remi was newly trained, coming over from sports physiotherapy so being used to working on much tougher, older men. ‘comme ça’ she said, pushing his hands away and replacing them with her own, moving them slowly up Jacob’s back with optimum pressure. Her hands were shaking, feeling completely out of her depth, her mind flashing back to when he had kissed her in her house. ‘D…d’accord?’ she asked, pulling her hands off again tentatively after showing her colleague how it was done. Moving back to the elder brother, she continued in silence, not saying another word for fear of bringing on a nosebleed. After another gruelling ten minutes, she finished up. ‘I hope that was alright Mr Tony Sir.’ She said, looking up to him as he stood with a meek smile. ‘Oh, thank you very much Mr Tony Sir!’ she exclaimed on his praise, nearly falling over with her beaming grin. She left the room to go and dress in her clothes, completely forgetting they were soaked through. She groaned, picking them up and taking them down to the basement staffroom where her locker was, putting them in and pulling out her other set of clothes, the ones used for promoting and for big events. Walking up to the lobby in a short knitted cream skirt and baby blue V-necked lycra top plastered with sponsors names and logos. She walked into the lobby, only to be greeted by her boss who reprimanded her for being so clumsy and ordering her to get into the lounge and wait on the precious Elladora family who were waiting to be served drinks. Running in, she walked straight over to the other two siblings ‘Bonjour. Martin, Sophia. May I get you anything?’ She could feel the sister’s scrutinizing eyes roll over her. ‘A drink perhaps… or some food…?’ it looked like she needed a good slap the way she was staring, not that Agni would say anything, she was quite intimidated by her. ‘Did you want to say something to me Sophia?’ she asked rather timidly, waiting for an answer.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Thu Mar 22, 2012 7:42 am

James watched Polly stand and with a half smile tapped his fingers against the side of the tiled edge he leant against and watched the water gently ripple as she walked towards him. It was dim as the candles flickered from the small draft that came in through the window but the small orbs of blue light that swam through the water lit up Polly a little more, reflecting blue light on the beads of water that ran from skin. He looked away for the moment ¬“There is no better a place to clear your mind, to relax and…” His voice faded away as she ran her wand along his chest. There was a part of him that felt a little nervous being on the other end of that wand but it gave Polly that edge he enjoyed so much. “Why don’t you decide?” He grinned, but the grin soon faded and chills ran up James’ spine as Polly began to speak, her voice was a little off, as if she had hurt her vocal chords but it was what she said that bothered him, he listened to her odd, blood-curling words and didn’t want to think about what they meant, he knew what was going on now, or at least he thought he knew. He placed his hands outwards to catch Polly but she rested on his shoulders instead and there was a long silence, he searched her face for anything that would have told him she was joking but it was certainly a serious situation. “I… I think I already knew.” But James didn’t want to continue talking about what he thought; a little shaken he placed his hands over Polly’s and stood, helping her stand as well. “ I have to be going. I had been planning to… before…” Not finishing his sentence James stood out of the bath and tied a robe around himself, leaving the room and walking back along the second corridor to his bedroom where sitting at the foot of his bed with the robe only hanging from his waist he closed his eyes and sighed heavily. He didn’t know what to do.

Jacob was trying desperately not to make a sound whilst he was in the room with Agni and his brother but the male masseuse that he had been given was obviously a beginner or in a world of their own, trying to push air bubbles out of hardened play dough. The French man must have caught a nerve of his as Jacob bit him lip and groaned in pain, instantly trying to suck the noise back into his mouth but Agni rushed over and placed he hands on his back, he tensed up even more and if it weren’t for his head being down he would have shown the entire room that he was a little flushed. But Tony laughed. “Oh Jake, you need to build your muscle a bit more! Don’t complain!” He laughed a little when there was no reply from Jacob. “Someone’s a grumpy gremlin.” Tony stood up after this massage was finished and thanked Antonia. “Twinkle-fingers, I think that was the best massage I’ve had is a long time!” Tony grinned and left the room with Antonia. As soon as the pain had left Jacob commando rolled off of the table and fled from Remi, grabbing his clothes and getting changed; his shoulders and neck were aching more than they ever had, but it was more like bruising from the surprisingly slender-fingered man.

Sophia sat with her older brother and clipped sparkly pink hair grips to one half of his hair whilst Martin sat looking at a page of a book for over half an hour without turning over. He often fell into trance like states where he was fully aware of what was going on around him but was somewhat in a world of his own. It was how he was so tolerable of his thirteen year old, by not always being completely there. The quietly balance state of affairs came t a halt as Agni walked over to the pair who were sat a little away from their parents. Martin looked blankly at the cheery elf but Sophia stared at her with the eyes of the devil, narrowed and intimidating, her stare was unfaltering, she ignored the words of the elf, remembering what her mother had told her about elves and how they were a dirty race, dragged into civilisation, their feet trailing in the mud. Yes, it was the common view of the Elladora family, alongside many families similar to them in status and alliance that it would have been kinder to have left elves to wallow in their woodlands and should return there. Martin flicked his younger sister’s nose in order to stop her staring; her fierce glare was quickly turned onto Martin before softening at the sight of her older brother. Martin turned to Agni, his expression as if he were too tired or perhaps too miserable to speak. “She, is fine. I would…” It were as if he had lost concentration completely and looked in the other direction for a moment, he did return to face Agni again quickly. “ Yes, water would be brilliant…” His voice trailed off as if a little disappointed with his own decision. As Agni left the pair exchanged irate whispers with each other, Sophia looking quite cross with Martin, but after being scolded by him she donned a sickly smile as the elf returned. Martin took his drink with a half smile, though a little shock that she stayed and even sat by him. “Uh… uh… I don’t like snow… Only Sophia and Tony like the snow…” Sophia looked over to Agni her eyes a little glazed over as if she was looking at something else. “Oh yes.” She didn’t say a word after that to Agni and neither did Martin, a little intimidated that a young girl was sat beside him. But after a few moments Jacob came out fully dressed and looking a little flushed still, holding his neck. He saw Agni with his siblings and rolled his eyes, nothing good was going to come out of that conversation, he could tell. He walked straight to Sophia and picked her up out of the chair with a playfully inquisitive expression. “Now, I hope you are behaving here, don’t think dad would want to come over and sort things out.” Looking victimised Sophia wriggled back to where she was sat with a serious scowl. “I was doing absolutely nothing! Besides, isn’t it you who should mind how they are behaving?!” Jacob was quickly shut up and with a nervous laughter he sat down and turned to Agni trying to diffuse the tension that quickly set across the room. “I think Tony is going to ask you to show him the black slopes, he actually skis you see…” Jacob grinned, but there was something a little forced about his smile, he was desperately trying to act cool about what had happened before but he was still dying of embarrassment. She knew what he was and he guessed that must have been enough on its own for Agni not to go for him, but looking at her in her promotion uniform it was a wonder how she hadn’t been snapped up by say the Whitehall guy in their year.

The next morning Felicity woke up later than normal, there was nobody at all in her dorm room which she liked a lot and took her time getting dressed and consequently missed breakfast completely. Walking down the wooden stairs to the common room she heard whispers of worried girls, she wondered if anyone had had an accident and why she hadn’t been there to see it But instead she quickly found out as she walked towards the hall for lunch. Ludovic was a little in front of her and even from the back she could tell something wasn’t right, his hair was a complete mess by anyone’s standard and the way he walked looked more like a shuffle than his usually proud stride. She grinned and began to over take him. “I think you could do with speeding up chubs, shift those extra pounds quicker.” Felicity spat her words before continuing into the hall and for the first time in the holidays spotting Polly, she decided to sit on the Thrisdin table. “You are quite possibly the most allusive person I know…” Felicity commented whilst sitting opposite, “Yeah it was a little concoction I learnt in prep school, nasty stuff, used it on teacher’s mainly…” She looked back over to Ludovic on the other side of the room and grinned. “He had it coming, nasty stuff for nasty people…though it isn’t meant to make someone actually ill…. Anyway, where have you been? Hiding out in the attics or something?” Felicity spent the rest of lunch with Polly, a little glad not to be at someone’s throat for the moment. But she had an endurance practise with Ludovic after lunch and didn’t want to go; she wondered if he would even show up he was so ill. She decided to go anyway so she could rub it in his face if he didn’t.

But to her surprise he was there outside of the games hut and ready to go and start training; though he didn’t look as if he would be able to move from the spot without falling over. “Come on then!” She chirped with a sadistic smile. “Run yeah? Get warmed up a little.” She didn’t say anything else but ran off ahead of Ludovic who was pushing up behind her (LOL) and quickly they were side by side, she could see that he was struggling but he wasn’t going to slow down so like before she kept up with him. They had gotten further towards the outer woodlands of the grounds as they ran and it was just as they were beginning to have to doge low branches that Felicity spoke. “Whitehall slowdown before you have a seizure…” she rolled her eyes at his comment and let him continue but after a few minutes more she spoke again. “Seriously stop for a minute!” She sped up after Ludovic and noticing his stumble she dived towards him and practically threw him to the ground. There wasn’t much snow under the thick intertwining branches of the trees so their fall was broken by moss and dry leaves. “I’m sorry!” Felicity breathed heavily as she found herself practically sat on top of her team mate. She got off of him but looked down to the obviously very Ill Ludovic. “I.. am sorry that I got you to drink that, but it shouldn’t have made you this ill and you shouldn’t have come out to train if you weren’t well… yes you could afford one day’s rest…I know enough about pressure, no, I do!” She fell back into the dry leaves with a heavy sigh. “Alright then Mr perfect, you have the perfect lifestyle, hundreds of women adore you, your family is powerful and wealthy, good school, good at practically everything, what is so pressured for you?” She listened to Ludovic and for a while she stayed silent, looking up to the trees, a little shocked at what he was saying to her, and for a moment she could relate to what he was saying. She blew the few stray hairs from her face and stretched out her fingers. “And you think that only applies to you? Both of my parents were world champions in their field, I’m supposed to have the superior genes of champions, and my brother and I are effectively the reason why they couldn’t compete, so we supposed to be the next greatest. But of course my brother is superior in every field, I came top of every class in preparatory school, except combative charms- which my brother obviously excelled in... so they focused on that."

"It’s like playing a game of catch up that you can’t win, isn’t it?”

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Outrageous. Tue Mar 27, 2012 8:29 am

Polly could feel a migraine coming on, it always happened after spirits from the other world forced themselves upon her in order to give messages to the living. Sometimes it subsided, but she could tell that today it was going to stay with her. While she was trying to bring her head back into the land of the living, he said something; she missed it and kicked herself for doing so as he left her alone again. She sank back into the water with a sigh, missing the boat again. The water was almost cold by the time she heard another noise, she had decided to stay in there, her hair now completely soaked, she had been right, her headache had stayed with her, but no amount of blood rushing to her head could have disguised the sound of the door latch clicking open. ‘Shit.’ She exclaimed, hurriedly diving under the water, pulling out her wand and pressing it to her throat so she could breathe, unfortunately, there was no hiding from the large Hadinas House tutor. Being pulled out of the water by the scruff of her neck she yelped a little, swearing her way through the pain. Once dressed, she was frogmarched to her head of house. ‘Ah, Miss Ephemera… I feel as if we are married I have seen you so many times this month, what can we do for you today?’ The tall bearded man slammed his hands on the table ‘This is the second time this week we have caught her in the second floor professors washroom Magenta, it is completely unacceptable!’ The elderly woman sighed in complete exasperation. ‘Miss Ephemera, no doubt you have an explanation for this?’ Polly looked around the room a little, her arms folded in complete defiance ‘well, I don’t know if you’ve ever had your arm completely scorched before, but water happens to be awful nice on the skin.’ Apparently however her excuse wasn’t good enough. ‘Of course it does, and I expect the student showers were bombarded by angry beavers were they?’ ‘Well not you mention it…’ ‘Silence!’ it was getting serious now, her head of house rarely shouted. ‘Who was it who put the new charm on the door Professor Sanderson?’ The bearded guy looked around the room in thought before shrugging his shoulders. The woman sighed again, taking out her wand and levitating sheets before her face until she found the one she wanted. ‘Ah, here it is… the last person to put a charm on that particular door was Professor Sparrow… seeming as it was his charm you destroyed, it will be him you can spend two hours doing menial tasks with.’ Polly groaned ‘Are you serious?’ ‘Very serious Miss Ephemera…’ she looked the American up and down ‘And I suggest you put some more… appropriate clothes on.’

Agni could feel the girl looking straight into her soul; she shuffled her feet uncomfortably ‘Um…’ thankfully, Jacob’s second brother broke the tension. ‘Um… yes right away.’ Martin seemed to be rather quiet and distant; he reminded her a little of herself. Bringing the drink back over, she felt it her obligation to start up a conversation, she plopped herself down on the plush leather chesterfield next to him and smiled widely, trying to convince herself over and over that he was just a deformis and that talking to him would be easy. ‘How do you like the slopes Martin?’ she asked cheerfully, laughing at his reply ‘Ah! How funny!’ she leaned over him to look at the young girl ‘You do like the snow then Sofia? You do love it like I do?’ her short reply seemed like all she was going to be getting out of her, so then proceeded to chat to Martin, all be it one sided. ‘When I was small, my father did get a job here to pay and I did learn to ski, although I do prefer to snowboard now, I did learn to do a lot of other things too you know. Do you like plants? I think that perhaps you do not, Jacob does not like them either, and he said they are nice to look at but very hard to keep and look after, I think he said something about women being the same but I was not listening…’ She finished, feeling utterly ridiculous for speaking so much as he seemed to curl at the sheer sound of her voice. Luckily, the day was saved by Jacob; she looked up to him, before feeling her face turning to a deep shade of vermillion and quickly looking away again. He caught her conversation again at the mention of Tony. “I think Tony is going to ask you to show him the black slopes, he actually skis you see…” She grinned ‘Ah! I knew he was a good person! Or perhaps he is lying and I will be caught in a shack under several foot of snow eh?’ She stood, intending for it to be a joke but it coming out a little wrong. ‘I shall refill your drink Martin.’ She took the glass and went back over to the bar, asking Jean-Luc for a piece of paper and a pen. She then reached into her pocket and pulled out pink sugar mouse by the tail. The barman laughed ‘Vos favoris? Vous savez ce que le patron va faire si elle vous attrape manger sur un changement!’ it was true that the boss was a battle axe who didn’t tolerate any kind of fun whilst on shift. ‘il n'est pas pour moi’ she murmured, her tongue stuck out in concentration. The barman gasped ‘vous plaisantez! Vous ne leur donnons jamais loin!’ she smiled, tying the paper to the string of the mouse’s tail and holding up her handiwork. On the paper were drawn five symbols, a picture of an eye, O, a sheep, the number 1 and a cross. She hoped that he would figure out what it meant. Walking back over to the cluster of chairs where the family were sitting she laid down the glass in front of Martin and held out the mouse to Jacob for him to take it. When he did she smiled, not being able to contain herself. ‘Um, tell Tony that I will be waiting for him at ten thirty! I will be back later; I have to hire a board because mine is lost.’ She walked away with a little skip.

It was getting dark by the time Agni had almost finished her menial tasks as a chalet girl, she had one last task to do, taking a stack of magazines to one of the upstairs balconies. She had managed to make it all the way up the stairs in completely safely whist not being able see over the stack from being so short. She got to the last balcony, still the stack obscuring her eyes, stepping over the ledge carefully out into the cold air, turning to walk over to the tables and tripping over an out of place chair leg. Tumbling to the floor wish a squeak, she had replaced her skirt with a pair of mid-thigh black Lycra shorts upon her boss’ instruction but was now regretting not putting on the ski-leggings, her knees pretty bashed up from the wood. Her eyes watered and she began to sniffle as she scooped the magazines up from the floor, her grazed knees bleeding onto the wood which she would also have to clean up when she was done if she weren’t interrupted from a scuffle behind her. She turned around, only to see Jacob down beside her. ‘Oh, I am sorry I did not see you…’ she said whilst holding back tears, wiping them away with her arm. ‘I… I will be quick…’ she said, reaching for another magazine only to find him helping her up. ‘Oh, no I have to… I have to… oh goodness.’ She looked down at the silvery blue blood trickling down her pale skin. The next thing she knew, she was gripping her arms around his neck, her legs wrapped around him and holding onto him for dear life as he carried her back to his room. Once there, the temperature impressively warm, she was plopped onto the edge of his bed, wiping her eyes on the back of her hand as she hugged her knees into her. She looked up to him with her large amber eyes as he put the plasters over her grazes. ‘Thank you…’ she squeaked quietly from behind her knees. ‘D…did you like the mouse?’ she asked, assuming he ate it. ‘Oh.’ She wrapped the sheets through her fingers a little. ‘It… was a little obscure…’ she said, thinking over the pictures she had drawn. She stood up, walking over to him and holding the small paper in front of him to read. ‘Is a lady sheep.’ She corrected, looking at his face of concentration. She didn’t know what was going through her mind; it was half excitement and half terror going through her, she had never begun to think about doing anything like this before, but then again, she had never begun to think about anything but Jacob since before their argument. ‘It is not a cross…’ she said, looking up at him again, she didn’t reply to his question, instead just looking at him, waiting for him to understand so she wouldn’t have to say it. Finally, it was like a light switched on in his eyes. She panicked then giving him back the paper and turning around ‘Yes, I… um I need to clean the blood from the… and the magazines… I…’ her head was spinning; he wasn’t saying anything but that was mostly because she wouldn’t let him get a word in. Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself, turning around but not expecting him to be so close. Lifting herself up on her toes, she lifted a shaking hand to his cheek, the air between them almost crackling with the tension, she looked into his dark eyes and for some split second, she decided to be brave.

‘Did you hear?’ ‘Hear what? About Whitehall?’ ‘I heard that he’s been throwing up in the first floor toilets all afternoon.’ ‘I heard it was the second floor!’ ‘It’s all that Moran girl’s fault, did you see what she did to him?’ ‘Yeah, after he apologised to her in front of everyone! I heard he never apologises.’ ‘Shut up!’ came a hiss from the huddle of girls in the common room ‘He’s coming.’ Most of the things they were saying about him were true; he almost stumbled down the male stairs in the morning into the common room. He looked shockingly different to what he usually did. He was dressed in a large grey jumper two sizes too big for him. The dark circles under his eyes indicated his lack of sleep; in fact, he had been up all night his head hunched over a toilet bowl or anything that was close enough. His hair was out of place, messy even, like he hadn’t the energy to fix it. His walk wasn’t arrogant, but like he wanted to be ignored, looked over and like he was about to crumble at any minute. He ignored the stares and whispers, just trying to get outside. He was back to his normal size again, not that he could see it, refusing to take off his jumper once at the endurance site. He daren’t even look at anyone once there, waiting for the starting signal to be set off, but settling on the Moran girl’s words to begin his run. He started off with a jog, but as she pushed away from him he felt it necessary to push himself. His breathing became laboured, like running wasn’t normal for him, like he had never ran in his life, his forehead beaded with sweat as his limbs screamed out in fatigue, but he wouldn’t stop, he couldn’t stop, he could only hear the irregular sound of his blood though his ears until he hit the floor, a fallen branch scraping his elbow. He lay in the dirt, just breathing; his jacket having fallen open to show his endurance shirt, almost an exact match to the one Felicity was wearing. He closed his eyes, his head furrowing with the pain he was feeling. He rolled up onto his hands and knees, coughing badly, rolling onto his back again when he was done, and looking almost green. “I.. am sorry that I got you to drink that, but it shouldn’t have made you this ill and you shouldn’t have come out to train if you weren’t well…”[/i[] he scoffed at her ‘I couldn’t… take a day off…’ he said breathlessly “yes you could afford one day’s rest…” ‘you don’t now, what I have to do” he groaned, slowly pushing himself up on shaking arms “I know enough about pressure, no, I do!” he laughed at her, turning his head to look at her through his grey eyes. “Alright then Mr perfect, you have the perfect lifestyle, hundreds of women adore you, your family is powerful and wealthy, good school, good at practically everything, what is so pressured for you?” he frowned, his eyes holding a deep pain that wasn’t only physical. ‘Powerful and wealthy?’ she repeated ‘My, my family hate me; I’ll never be good enough for them; they joke at my expense. I am the youngest, the best at everything I do, but I will never match up to Vlad or Eleanor, they… they mock me.’ He spat, his heart rate increasing ‘What would you know about that, always being in the limelight, always being centre of attention, everyone waiting for your next move, waiting for you to slip up. I can’t ever be alone… I can’t ever be…’ he paused, looking back up to her angrily ‘What would you know about that.’ He hissed, glaring at her. His face softened however, as she began to talk, something stirred in him, an unease that she made him feel. "It’s like playing a game of catch up that you can’t win, isn’t it?” he moved a little closely, ‘e…exactly.’ The soft wind through the trees brushed against his skin as he looked at her, complete in awe, it was like a piece of him had been filled, by a stranger no less. As she looked back at him, he held her stare, his face having softened. Just as the wind dulled, a low growl let up from behind them, Ludovic turned just in time to see the horrible face of the dragon they had met a few nights ago, breathing in the air which could only mean one thing. It was too close, there would be no time to move out of the way or reach for their wands, just as the first signs of fire began to flicker in the lizard’s mouth, he used every ounce of strength to jump between the creature and Felicity, grabbing her and holding her, however, the pain never came, he opened his eyes to see the supervising professor standing between them, he motioned for them to run as he battled the creature off. Reaching the open air again, they had contracted a lot of attention, both endurance players being taken off by medics to be checked over, the moment lost.

The Final Circle - Page 3 Empty Re: The Final Circle

Post  Rosé Thu Mar 29, 2012 4:28 am

James didn’t spend too long dwelling on what he had seen with Polly, he tried to convince himself that what happened was either a pure coincidence or that Polly had somehow heard that some people called him Jamie, but no one in the school should have really known about that, the only people to call him Jamie were family and they didn’t know where James was anymore. It was all too coincidental for his liking, a sick feeling kept rising in his stomach as he thought about it, there was so much regret weighing him down, it felt as if he was hardly able to stand. He didn’t need to check on his assigned house today so decided that for now he would try and sleep his anxiety off. James pulled off his shoes and shirt before slipping back under his covers. The school was still in the tight grip of winter and he was finding it difficult to warm up with dam¬p hair. Again, he only hoped to sleep that off too. By the time lunch came around he was up and dressed, putting what had happened down to him being very tired not used to being up so early in the morning; his mind must have been playing tricks and preying on what he worried about the most. He was suited as usual and walked towards the hall in order to wake up. He wasn’t one to drink caffeine too often, but he was going to need it to get through the day, especially with the news he received whilst eating. “Serve a detention? In the holidays?” James looked to the rather stern woman, he hadn’t had much contact with her, and after their conversation James thought best to keep it that way. But now he had to think of some menial task for her to do, he had literally just cleared his room of clutter and organised all of the text books for the oncoming term. He would have to think of something later on. James walked past Polly in the hall and stopped just behind her. “Please be at my classroom by three-thirty, Miss Ephemera, don’t be late.” He continued to walk out of the hall and towards his classroom, whilst he had an hour or two to spare her would read and think about planning lessons for when the majority of students returned to their studies.

Felicity felt a strange stirring in her chest as Ludovic had actually agreed with her on something, rather, they mutually understood each other for a brief moment. It felt oddly nice to know someone understood what she felt like, even if his situation felt a little more severe than her own. But before she could speak to him again, the low growl of the dragon startled Felicity; she knew better than to make any sudden movements in the presence of danger but she shot up onto her feet before she could realise that it had taken a sharp and short breath inwards, Felicity saw the flickering of a flame about to hurtle towards the pair but she didn’t move, she couldn’t move. When Ludovic stood between her and the dragon, protecting her from it, she finally came to her senses, but she closed her eyes tightly, expecting to be burnt alive, but she never felt its heat as she heard another voice ahead of them. Felicity looked up to see a professor urging them to run, which she didn’t need to be told twice to do. For once Felicity could keep up with Ludovic; it had to be the adrenalin. She was dizzy from the shock and sudden need to exert herself. There was a small crowd of people nearer the school as they came out of the forest having heard the dragon in the forest and worrying for Ludovic’s well being; the only person to check on Felicity being one of the school medics, but quickly noting that there was nothing actually wrong with her. She followed them back into the school’s main grounds and decided that she wasn’t going to mess around with Ludovic’s drinks anymore; swearing that what happened was some trick of fate. But back in the common room whilst groups of girls asked incessant questions to Ludovic, Felicity sat in an old leather arm chair cross legged, instead of her full endurance kit she had changed into a pair of softer tracksuit bottoms and read, occasionally looking over to Ludovic over the pages of her book. She couldn’t help but think about what they had said in the forest, she caught his eye at least once but quickly looked straight down to the book she had gotten for Christmas. Felicity decided that she didn’t really care about what they had said to each other during training; as far as she was concerned, Ludovic von Whitehall was too arrogant for his own good.

James listened to the clock ticking away as he read through a local magical newspaper, he wondered if Polly wouldn’t show up; part of him wouldn’t have minded if she decided not to come as he didn’t know what to get her to do if she did actually show up. Not to mention what had happened earlier that morning. But a few minutes past three-thirty there Polly was, stood in the doorway of his classroom. “Good afternoon, take a seat.” He pointed to one of the desks on the front row of his classroom. “I guess for the next two hours you can clean and polish the divination crystals and crystal balls, they are in the cupboard at the back of the classroom.” James looked over to Polly with a surprisingly knowing look, remembering that the cupboard was where she and the Irish girl had bundled his half conscious body. “Well, go on then, you will just be here longer otherwise.” James looked away from Polly and back towards his books that he had spread out over the desk; their subjects were varied, from aquatic plant life to the significance of the moon in modern magical practise. He wasn’t looking for anything in particular, but he couldn’t decide what to read, just something to take his mind of teaching and students. He glanced up to Polly occasionally to check that she was cleaning the equipment properly but sighed, flipping the page of a titleless book. “Your cleaning technique is a little to be desired.” He remarked slowly, not looking up from his pages.

After what seemed like a few minutes of a terribly awkward situation Jacob looked at the piece of paper and sugar mouse, a little confused. He nodded to tell Tony about skiing but was really too preoccupied with the note. “What does it mean?!” But Agni was off and out of the Chalet before he could shout again and he didn’t fancy going out in the cold again. Jacob saved the mouse for later and decided to join the rest of his family for dinner, every so often he looked at the note in his pocket, “eyeball zero sheep cross?” He accidentally murmured the note out loud, catching the attention of his father. “Excuse me?” The slightly greying man raised his eyebrow, even though he had no ability to see he looked in the direction of Jacob. “Now what could be so important that would disrupt your sister’s story about the demorfis train derailment she saw today?” Jacob quickly looked to his plate, his father’s voice was quiet and he spoke slowly; it still commanded the attention of the entire table “I’m sorry, it was nothing at all…” Even Sophia didn’t dare to bring up the previous conversation that she had heard between Jacob and Agni, their father never having liked any race except his own, he could tolerate witches or wizards who shared his views on other magically inclined beings; hence his wife. After a few moments the table resumed its quiet conversation, Jacob leaving as soon as he could, needing to get some air. He went to the upper balcony of the chalet seeing as it was next to his room. He sat on a small wooden chair and looked over the snow dusted pine trees of the Alps and couldn’t figure out why anyone would want to be up in the mountains at all this time of year. He sat and ate the sugar mouse he had been given and decided that Agni was just being strange with her coded message and guessed it probably had something to do with sheep not being able to eat one eyeball or something. Even outside he could hear his sister throwing a fit at Tony for not taking her somewhere so Jacob decided to stay out of the way a little while longer. He hardly heard Agni walk out onto the balcony and nearly jumped out of his skin when she fell over but quickly knelt down to give her a hand.

“Hey.” He grinned a little trying to pile up her magazines for her, their hands fumbling together. “Here let me give you a hand, you could use a plaster or two Agni.” He pulled her from the floor. “Come on, get here.” He gestured to give her a piggyback and puller her onto his back and walking into his room and dropped her onto the bed, walking into this ensuite bathroom, coming back with two plasters and placing them on her knees carefully. “The sugar mouse was lovely, but what’s with the note?” He pulled it out of his pocket. “Oh a ewe, right, so you owe me a cross? What like buried treasure?” He smirked, trying to be funny. “Not a cross…” He was even more confused than ever, that is, until the entire sentence clicked in his head and he looked up to Agni, Jacob took a step forwards and waited for her to turn around. “Agni I…” He stopped speaking as she placed a hand on his cheek. Her lips against his felt surreal, before he was sure he had forced himself on her but this time she had kissed him. Jacob pulled away, a look of half surprise, he wanted her to stay, but before he could insist Agni was out of the room. Jacob rubbed the back of his neck in bewilderment over what just happened, but he couldn’t help the sudden explosion of adrenalin that poured through his chest. “Perhaps.” He said with a chirp, perhaps she really liked him after all.
